"Wow…"His mom exclaimed. "Comes the princess we have been waiting for. Please give me a big hug. What a beautiful soul." Mrs. Judge looked at me with her dazzling eyes and she embraced me again. Just at the door post, I was welcomed like an old family friend. I felt the spirit of warmth from the onset and I could put my foot on the floor as if I had been staying in this house for a long time. "Come inside," she held my hand and she took the space of Chris. She too wore a black and white blouse and the way she twisted her hair made her look so classic. We left Chris at the door as he was carried away by looking at the way his mom held me and sat me down at the dining table. "Welcome my beloved daughter." She sounded as if she was about to give a powerful presentation. And there was untold joy all over her face. Some seconds later, Chris came and sat in the opposite chair and I could see his face when I raised my head. But I could hardly face him because his mum had taken my attention. Her attitude made me feel I missed out on not having a mother. Her words were coined in emotions. "It's a pleasure having you in our small house." "Hmm… This is not a small house, but a beautiful and big house," I turned my eyes to the elegant interior decorations. "Let me say a big thank you to your son. He saved my life." I stole a glance at Chris' face and the response of Mrs. Judge made me turn my face to her again. "You're worth saving. You are too precious to go down the lane. My son told me everything. It was…" "A miracle…" I added before she could conclude. "Yes." She nodded with a smile. Chris was just moving his eyes between his mom and me. There was a brief silence and Mrs. Judge broke it. "I gave birth to my son on a wonderful sunny day. Down to this day, he is my everything on earth that gives me joy. When he told me he did an act of kindness yesterday, I was moved to invite you." "It was just an act of kindness. It was my duty to save troubled lives in the air." Chris interrupted. His response looked so formal, but his mother cut in and said, "Chris, you are so humble. I'm jealous of the lady who will walk down the aisle with you." These words made me blush and I looked at Chris and said to myself. His girlfriend will be very fortunate. "Mum…" Chris hushed his mom with his tone of voice. The way he widened his eyes made me smile. Probably his mom was going into his love life. Mrs. Judge quickly stood up when she noticed that our conversation had taken most of our time. "Pardon me. You need a glass of wine. When I saw you, I knew an angel had walked into my house." She took an expensive wine and opened it. The opening made a celebration sound and there was a vibrant energy in the air. Mrs. Judge served the wine into three glass cups and we all took our own. "Please tell us about yourself?" Mrs. Judge took the first sip and turned her face to me. I ogled with a smile and thought about where to start. Chris and his mother's eyes were on me. "Uh… I'm the only child of my parents. Hmm… My mum died when I was so tender. I didn't know her well." "Accept my condolences," Mrs. Judge placed her right on me. Her touch reassured me I wasn't alone in my pain. "I grew up under the tutelage of my loving dad, a co-owner of Z-tech company. One of my hobbies is going on a trip in the air." "That's very interesting." Mrs. Judge said and continued, "Just like your dad, Chris is my only child. His dad died, though, when he was twenty years old. I love buying him flying toys right from when he was a kid. He had always wanted those around him to know how to fly the plane. He taught me how to fly a simple plane, but fear kept preventing me from mastering the craft. I know he will get married to someone who is obsessed with flying a plane…" "Mum…?" Pumped out his eyes and interrupted his mom. His sharp tone made us look at his face and his mom stopped talking. Chris cracked his throat and said, "Nice meeting you Taylor." He turned his face to his mum and added, "Why are we not eating? Our guest is waiting." He gave a noticeable look at his mom. Probably to shorten our conversation. His mom tapped me and said, "My son cares so much about you. How does he know you are hungry?" I didn't know what to say and I shrugged with a smile." She stood up and before moving to the kitchen, she said while moving her eyes on us. "Chris!" She paused and we gave her the attention she wanted and she continued, "Taylor is not just a guest for your information. She is our friend. Taylor," she tapped my right shoulder, "you are welcome to this house anytime. Chris assisting you in the air was not just a coincidence. You don't know how I felt when my son told me about you." "Mum… The last time I could remember, you were standing up to bring our meal?" "Why does Chris always love to shorten his mom's words?" I thought. Then she whispered to my ear and said aloud, "Don't tell him," and she walked away. I couldn't stop smiling, then I giggled. It was great fun and joy with Chris' mum. I thought Chris would start a conversation after his mom had left. He didn't. He only stared at me and turned his eyes to his wine while he gently hit his right fingertip on the table. It seems he doesn't love talking like his mom and when the silence was becoming awkward, I said, "Thank you so much for yesterday. You are an angel sent from above." "Chris has always been my angel," his mom overheard my words, as she spread the food on the dining table she continued, "Chris has always been a helping hand to those he meets." Chris made a sound with his throat and his mom kept quiet. We all ate together in love and laughter. Just like Chris in our first encounter, I communicated with his mom as if we have been friends for a long period. She spoke to me with love and compassion in her eyes. To the point that we took photos of ourselves, to keep and document such a memorable visit. When I returned home, I met my dad and showed him the pictures we took. His facial expressions showed that he was very pleased despite my coming home late. Author POV: An hour later when Taylor had left Chris' house, Chris' mom followed Chris into his room. Chris thought leaving the sitting room would end her compulsory conversation. Chris was surprised when he looked at the time and his mom was still in his room. "It's getting late, wouldn't you go to your room and relax?" "Are you chasing me out of your room? I'm happy you are curious that I am still in your room at this time. Something is bothering me." "And what is that if I may ask?" "Is Taylor." "What's wrong with you?" Chris moved closer to her as he saw his mom's unpleasant face. "I want you to get married to her." "Is this a joke or what? This is the second day I have known her." "Didn't you look into her eyes?" She interrupted Chris and before he could say something, his mom continued, "That lady is in love with you. You just need to move a step forward so that she will know you are serious about her. She is so cute." "Mother, I don't want to take advantage of anybody. Helping her to land safely is my job. I get paid. Why will I use it as a yardstick on anybody?" "Taylor loves you. Believe me." "How will I believe you when you always wanted me to have a girlfriend? Mother, calm down. Give me some time, I will introduce someone to you." "No… my patience is burning." And when he saw that her mum was not ready to give up, he said, "I want to take my bath." He entered the bathroom and because he knew his mom had not left his room, he deliberately wasted time in the bathroom room. He does not want to come out and meet his mom in his room. His mom noticed his deliberate action. She stood up from the chair on the left side of the room and was about to go out when she saw Chris' phone on the bed. She quickly hit his right index finger against her lips as she was thinking of what to do. She quickly took his phone and typed the following message. "Hi Taylor, it was a lovely encounter with you today. It is a good thing to make friends, but it is more beautiful to have a wonderful friend like you. You are such a unique person. Your presence in our house today created an atmosphere of love. I love to repeat such a moment with you very soon, but it will be just the two of us. I was in the dark. I didn't know I would miss you this much until you left. I miss you dearly." Mrs. Alice quickly sent the message to Taylor and waited for a few seconds with the phone in her hand. As soon as she saw that the message had been delivered, she deleted the message from her son's phone. She gently placed the phone back in its place and left the room without noise. A few minutes later, Chris observed that he could not hear any sound of his mother's presence in his room. "Mom…?" He waited to see if she was there. After a few seconds, he called again but got no response. "Thank God, she has left with her trouble." He said to himself and sighed, and he boldly came out of the bathroom. There was a blue tower on his waist and as he walked towards his wardrobe, he heard a sound of a message on his phone. He stopped and looked at the phone's screen. Behold, it was a text message from Taylor. He was surprised and walked closer to pick up his phone. He opened the message and took the phone closer to his eyes to read the message. "Hi, Chris…..
