Chapter 9: Unexpectedly Met the Family

Atlas POV

The following morning I woke up in Alexis’s bed. I look over and she is cuddled up against me with my arms around her. I look up and it’s almost 9am.

Wow I haven’t slept that long and good in a long time. Alexis starts to fidget in her sleep so I run my hand down her face to soothe her back to sleep. I wiggle from around her to go to the bathroom.

I come back after doing my morning routine and she is still knocked out. I walk to the kitchen to get some water and there is a knock at the door in the living room. “Oh sh*t, do I answer it?” I mumble to myself. I don’t want to wake her up.

“Come on, you're a soldier who isn’t afraid of anything, just open the door.” I take a deep breath and walk over and unlock the door. F*ckkk. “Alex.”

“When Alexis said she had company all night, this was definitely not what I was expecting.” He says looking at me like a big brother who is about to punch someone for hooking up with his baby sister. "So you're sleeping with my sister now?" I am puzzled but I hide my reaction. "No, I respect her enough to not just sleep with her. I like her so we are seeing each other. Wait! She told you I was here?” “Of course she did. She knew I would be coming first thing like I always do when I am home. Plus we don't have secrets.” She didn’t mention her brother would be stopped by all the time.

“She told me not to come but she usually sees me now.” He says. “Yeah, she is still asleep.” He nods and looks around. KNOCK KNOCK! I freeze, now who the hell is that. Alex walks to her front door and opens it and says, “Morning dad, come on in.” Now would be a good time to go get Alexis.

The President walks in and I am wearing joggers and no shirt or shoes. He is going to kill me. Yep this is how I am going to die. I am in the most powerful man's daughter's room half naked.

He turned to walk in the kitchen and saw me. “1SG Kelly, what are you doing in my house, in my daughter's apartment with half your clothes missing?” He says with a bold look on his face. I was about to respond when Alexis called out. “Babe, where are you?” “I’m in the kitchen Lexi.” She is rubbing her face as she walks in wearing what she wore to bed last night. A long t-shirt and short-shorts.

She comes straight to me and snuggles into my chest. I can’t help but smile and wrap my arms around her. I don’t care that her father and brother are watching so I kiss her on the head. “Alexis baby, you have company.” I say in a sweet tone. She quickly turns her head and her eyes widen as she jumps back.

“Daddy, Alex. What are you doing here? And why so early in the morning?” She says. Her father steps up. “Well good morning to you, Alexis Jane. Now the better question is what the soldier is doing here with barely any clothes on this early in the morning and in your apartment?” Oh s**t. What is she going to say? She walks around the kitchen island and stands a few feet away from them.

“Well daddy, as you can see he stayed with me last night. And before you say anything about meeting him yesterday, I will tell you that we started seeing each other weeks ago. And I don’t plan to stop seeing him either. So if either of you have a issue or concern about my love and s*x life please say it now.” I choked sipping on my water as she just told her dad and brother we are having s*x and in a relationship. But damn that was super hot. Now I know what they were talking about yesterday, when they said she isn’t afraid to speak her mind.

The President looks shocked and her brother is just smiling in approval. Her dad looks at me and back at her. “Well, okay then. I can see I will not win this fight. But I do approve. Kelly, you are one of my best soldiers. I do trust you to keep her safe and treat her well.” “You have my word sir.” I walk to Alexis who leans back into me as I wrap my arm around her.

“Alex, do you have anything you want to say?” She asks. I look at him with everyone else. His arms are crossed, with a finger over his lips. “Lex, is this who we’re talking about when I got home. The one you spoke so highly of because of how he made you feel?” I was taken back, she talked about me. I look down as she smiles and nods to her brother.

“If you two knew each other, why didn’t you say something in the meeting yesterday?” Her father asks. I look down at her and she giggles “Well we knew each other but we didn’t know who the other was. I had no idea he was a soldier and you already know I keep my identity secret. We met once before and well I didn’t know his name and he didn’t know mine until yesterday.” “I see, so when you choked on your words yesterday after speaking Italian, it was because you saw him.” Alex says.

“Sir, I like your daughter and I didn’t know who she was when we met. Yesterday in the meeting was when I made the connection. Does me being with your daughter jeopardize anything? Or make me unfit to lead my mission with her by my side?” Alexis looks up concerned. I flash her a smile to assure her I don’t regret anything. “No, you can proceed as planned. Your personal relationship with her has nothing to do with the job. However, this will have to be disclosed to the General. How I see it is you make her happy and the look that you share right now is proof enough to me that you’re good for her.” “I agree dad. She hasn’t looked that happy in a long time.” -Alex.

“I will do whatever it takes to make her happy and to always take care of her. My duty to my country is important but so is she.” I say while looking at her with a smile. “Very well. Alexis if your happy with him then I approve. Atlas please call me Liam when we are in close quarters. No sense in formalities when you are with my daughter in more ways than one.” I choke on air while Alexis starts to laugh. “Yes sir”

They leave and Alexis turns and jumps in my arms and wraps her legs around my waist. She kisses me deeply before pulling away. “You handled that very well.” She says with a smile. “I was scared out of my mind. I wasn’t expecting them both to be here.” She smiles. “Neither was I. I told Alex I had company and to stay away. Ooh and by the way that door is into Alex’s apartment living room.” I nod my head.

I set her down on the kitchen counter. “So you just told your dad and brother we are a couple.” I say with a smile, moving her hair out of her face. “I was hoping to talk to you this morning about it. I don”t want to rush but I don’t want to let you go. I am in this for the long haul, I want you and only you. I haven’t had a connection like this before with anyone. I need to know your thoughts.” I smile as she is fidgeting with her hands and looking down.

I lift her chin with my fingers and plant a sweet kiss on her lips. “I want you and only you. We don’t have to rush and I am not single. I have a beautiful girlfriend in front of me. Believe me when I say in my past I have never felt what I feel with you.” She smiles and pulls me in for a hard kiss.

We agreed we want to relax so she takes a shower and changes while I get the food ordered. The rest of the day is relaxing. We spend the next few days getting to know one another.

***Alexis POV

I woke up to see Atlas gone. I get up and walk into the bathroom. He isn't there so I call for him “Babe, where are you?” “I’m in the kitchen Lexi.” I hear him say. I am barely awake so I walk in without looking around. I see him and go to his chest and snuggle into it. He is so handsome and smells so good. He wraps his arms around me and kisses the top of my head. “Alexis, you have company.” I quickly turn around and my eyes widen in shock. I jumped out of his embrace.

Daddy, Alex. What are you doing here? And why so early in the morning?” I look at Atlas who has a look on his face. “Well good morning to you, Alexis Jane. Now the better question is what the soldier is doing here with barely any clothes on this early in the morning and in your apartment?” I look at Atlas up and down. He is only wearing the joggers from last night. I blush “Well daddy, as you can see he stayed with me last night. And before you say anything about meeting him yesterday, I will tell you that we started seeing each other weeks ago. And I don’t plan to stop seeing him either. So if either of you have a issue or concern about my love and s*x life please say it now.”

I can’t believe I just told my dad I am having s*x with him and that we are in a relationship all at once and in full confidence. Alex is looking at me proud for my outburst but I think he is even happier I am dating and that it’s a soldier. I hear Atlas choke and I want to laugh but I keep a stern face.

“Well, okay then. I can see I will not win this fight. But I do approve. Kelly, you are one of my best soldiers. I do trust you to keep her safe and treat her well.” “You have my word sir.” He walks up behind me and puts an arm around me.

“Alex, do you have anything you want to say?” I look at him sternly and I know he is trying not to laugh. He is proud but then he goes into thinking mode. “Lex, is this who we’re talking about when I got home. The one you spoke so highly of because of how he made you feel?” My jaw drops. He did not just say that out loud with both of them here. I nod with a smile of embarrassment on my face.

“If you two knew each other, why didn’t you say something in the meeting yesterday?” This is a complicated answer, but I got it. “Well we knew each other but we didn’t know who the other was. I had no idea he was a soldier and you already know I keep my identity secret. We met once before and well I didn’t know his name and he didn’t know mine until yesterday.” I say in confidence and assurance. “I see, so when you choked on your words yesterday after speaking Italian, it was because you saw him.” Alex asks. “I did not choke but my breath was taken. Yes, that is the reasoning. I had no idea it was him who I had been missing.”

Atlas steps up with a concerned look on his face. “Sir, I like your daughter and I didn’t know who she was when we met. Yesterday in the meeting was when I made the connection. Does me being with your daughter jeopardize anything? Or make me unfit to lead my mission with her by my side?” I can’t help but be concerned, I didn’t even think about the mission of the conflict that can arise. I have waited for this for so long, but I am not willing to give it my happiness. I look up at Atlas and he gives me a smile.

How I see it is you make her happy and the look that you share right now is proof enough to me that you’re good for her.” I am almost in tears. My dad understands. “I agree dad. She hasn’t looked that happy in a long time.” I turn and look at Alex and he is smiling.

Atlas pulls me close, “I will do whatever it takes to make her happy and to always take care of her. My duty to my country is important but so is she.”

“Very well. Alexis, if your happy with him then I approve. Atlas please call me Liam when we are in close quarters. No sense in formalities when you are with my daughter in more ways than one.” I burst out laughing with Alex. An Atlas starts to choke which makes me laugh harder. After a few we all compose. Atlas says, “yes sir.”

They leave and I jump in his arms and wrap my legs around his waist. I kiss him unlike before, with desire. “You handled that very well.” Atlas says with a happy look on his face “I was scared out of my mind. I wasn’t expecting them both to be here.” That’s because they weren’t supposed to be here. “Neither was I. I told Alex I had company and to stay away. Ooh and by the way that door is into Alex’s apartment living room.” I inform him so he knows for the future.

Atlas walks me over to the counter and sits me on top of it. “So you just told your dad and brother we are a couple.” Oh no. Was I wrong to say that? Did he regret it? “I was hoping to talk to you this morning about it. I don”t want to rush but I don’t want to let you go. I am in this for the long haul, I want you and only you. I haven’t had a connection like this before with anyone. I need to know your thoughts.” I say this being completely honest but I am wondering if I am being too straightforward.

I hesitate and look down while playing with my fingers. I don’t know if I want to hear him reject me. His fingers come under my chin and bring it up. “I want you and only you. We don’t have to rush and I am not single. I have a beautiful girlfriend in front of me. Believe me when I say in my past I have never felt what I feel with you.” I can’t help but blush and a smile appears. I grab his head and kiss him hard.

We agreed we want to relax so she takes a shower and changes while I get the food ordered.

The rest of the day is relaxing. We spend the next few weeks getting to know one another. We went exploring and we went on our first official date and some more. They were all magical and I can’t help but be happy to be with him.
