The Critical Point
Adam and his colleagues saw that those abductors were his rivals in the Mafia confraternity. Rachel and Evy took the chance to hop and roll on the ground because their hands and legs were tied.
Immediately after the gunshot, the environment turned quiet, then suddenly both sides started shooting like they were in burst mode. They shot hand-to-hand, not caring who or what might just get lost, damaged, or injured. The gunfire was so fierce that almost everyone involved was injured, especially Adam. He was targeted and shot in the left side of his chest, and he fell unconscious. His Mafia colleagues had to carry him and the money away from there. He was rushed to the hospital, but the situation became critically bad.
After a series of tests, X-rays, and some medical diagnosis, Adam was lucky—his heart was on the right side, not the left, so he survived by chance. His colleagues were very worried about him but calmed down after receiving the news.
Meanwhile, Rachel and Evy were found lost in a distant town. They tried to recall if they had been there before, but it was all in vain.
"I'm so happy we are free from those men. They were so bad and mean-looking," Evy said. Rachel wanted to reply, but then both of them heard a loud horn from a car behind them. A well-dressed young woman named Mrs. Anderson approached, spoke with them, and offered to help.
On the other hand, Adam received treatment with his medications and was then discharged. He arrived home worried about his children, unsure of their whereabouts, whether they were eating, or if they felt comfortable. He decided to send some of his colleagues on a search in the nearby towns. Reuben and Leus began their journey the next day, looking everywhere for the children, using pictures for easy identification so people would recognize where they might have been.
They moved from door to door, street to street, and from place to place and they finally gathered all the information, and found that everything pointed to a specific area—the same area where the rich woman had found them( both Rachel and Evy).
When Rachel and Evy arrived at their temporary home, they were grateful to the woman for her kindness, love and also giving them a shelter over their head.
The next day, they started cleaning, dusting, sweeping, and making sure all the dishes were washed and neatly arranged. The woman was happy with their humble and gentle behavior and even encouraged them. She said that if they kept behaving well, she would give them gifts and rewards.
Even though they felt safe and happy, the girls still missed their father immensely and wanted to go back. But they didn't tell Mrs. Anderson because they thought she might think they were ungrateful. The girls kept being kind to Mrs. Anderson, not knowing that Mr. Anderson—her husband—was the abductor who kidn*pped them, and he is also their father's biggest and most dangerous rival.
