Arkan and Lyria found out two days after they took charge of Voltaire that Duke Frelie killed himself. None of the people punished him, as Lyria gave them the freedom to do. No stoning, no torture, no burning. Not even mean words were directed at him, according to the guards' reports.  The people gave him stares. Some were full of malice, contempt, and hatred. But there were people who looked at him with pity. In fact, one lady even tried to give the Duke water and some food. But the Duke would not accept it.  Perhaps it was the pity that made the Duke finally bit his tongue and killed himself. He could not stand to see others looking at him as powerless, as pitiful, as a broken man. As someone who could no longer do anything.  When he died, no one mourned for him. But no one celebrate
