1173 Words
Jerome stood in front of the door; he couldn’t wait to see Amadeus after all these years. He knocked once more waiting for a response but there was none. He waited for hours and there was no one, he found a comfortable seat on the floor. Jerome finally picked himself from the ground where he sat and into town, he had decided to check Sir Anthony’s house. Amadeus had promise to come on this day and he was nowhere to be seen there was something wrong and he hoped it wasn’t any bad news, he got on a bus and stopped just before the gate, He could see some fancy cars parked just outside the house, there must be a party going on, he thought to himself. He made his way towards the back of the house, he had been into the house a million times when he was seeing Amadeus, he climbed into the house. Jerome managed to enter the kitchen and from there he found his way to Amadeus room. He opened the door but there was no one. “Amadeus?” he called out but no response, he must be downstairs at the party maybe he was busy Jerome thought. He decided to wait but he sat for a while, just when he was about to give up, the door flanged open. “Amadeus” Jerome whispered underneath his breath but Amadeus could hear him, he looked a bit different from the boy he knew from 6 years ago, now he was buffed, his muscle could be seen through his dress but his dark brown eyes still remained, Amadeus closed the door behind him quickly. Making his way towards him “Oh my goodness it’s you. it’s really you. I have missed you so much” he voiced with tears building up in his eyes. “When did you come back? Why didn’t you inform me about it?” he asked wanting to wrap his arms around him so bad but he didn’t want to stain his clothes. “What are you doing here?” Amadeus asked with an angry expression on his face. “Why would you ask that, it’s me Jerome. I came here to see you, remember we agreed to meet at our favorite spot but you….” “Our spot?” he scoffed Jerome was confused did he actually do something wrong? “Jerome I can’t believe you still think about that, we were kids. We had no idea what we were doing” he laughed, the smile on Jerome’s face slowly turned into confusion, what did he mean by that? “Jerome, I didn’t come because I grew up and realized we were just playing, whatever we did back then was disgusting and shouldn’t be talked about.” “What do you mean? Did I do something wrong? I’m sorry if that’s the case please forgive me.” “You’re disgusting for thinking I would go back to loving you” Jerome felt like he was in a bad dream, in the midst of him trying to get his thought straight the door opened once again, revealing a beautiful young lady, pale skinned looking with long curly hair. “Amadeus you’re needed downstairs and who’s that?” she inquired looking at Jerome as it was evident that he wasn’t a guest. “He’s no one” he spoke holding the young lady and sharing a kiss with her; making sure Jerome saw it. Jerome could not describe the amount of pain he felt. He walked out of the house like a zombie, he didn’t care if anyone saw him or not; he couldn’t believe this was the day he looked forward to for the past 6 years; Amadeus was the only who understood him, he was his light in the dark, his eyes to seeing the world and how he was blind. He got to the front of the house and could hear some men chatting, his legs carried him towards them as tears dropped from his eyes; they were drinking. One of the men saw him “Hey young lad, come on join us” he beckoned to him, the drinks were brought from inside the house as there was more than enough; Jerome at this point just wanted the pain to stop and for that he could do anything, it felt like his chest was been ripped open and his heart was suffocating in his chest. He grabbed a bottle in his hands and the only words he could hear ringing in his ears were ‘disgusting’. Was he really disgusting? Was his really a child from the devil? Was he wrong to give himself to a man like him? Maybe if he was prettier with breasts and long hair like the girl from earlier maybe, just maybe Amadeus would have come back for him. The question running through his head were too much not allowing him breath, he clenched unto the bottle before putting it in his mouth and gulping the entire content, with tears streaming down his face. “Hey don’t drink it all or you won’t be able to walk home” a different man spoke. “Let him be, can’t you tell that he is hurt. I’m sure his girlfriend must have broken his heart, listen here” he said turning to Jerome’s direction “You need to have a lot of money in order to get a wife, just look at Amadeus he just got back and already has a wife” “A wife?” Jerome asked just to be sure he heard correctly, a wife? He thought she was his girlfriend but he actually got married to her, what happened to them starting their own family? What happened to staying together? What happened to them against the world? The questions hit him one after the other and the pain was back, he grabbed another bottle and drinking it all at one go. “Yes wife, they got married yesterday after him arrival” he explained. Now Jerome had answers as to why Amadeus stopped sending him letters, he kept giving him excuses in his head; he continued drinking until he could barely see. Everything was spinning and the grounds weren’t equal anymore but he couldn’t sleep out. Tonight was his sister’s engagement and she had reminded him about it, he promised to be there so he had to be there. The straggled into a crowd of people stand in an alley wait for a ride into town, they were all young men just around Jerome’s age. “We are about to leave” the man on the bus called out, everyone started rushing into the bus and along with them Jerome was pushed unto the bus; “Home…. I need to go home” he mumbled. The bus lid was locked from behind and it started moving, “Home….” He mumbled to himself once again but the bus kept moving taking him far from home.
