The air inside Dominic’s office was unnaturally still. Vivian stood near the desk, her hands clasped tightly in front of her, fingers trembling despite her effort to remain composed. She had been called in without explanation. That alone was enough to unsettle her. Dominic sat behind his desk, his posture relaxed. Too relaxed. A tablet lay in front of him, screen dark for now. He didn’t look at her immediately. Instead, he finished reading the document in his hand, flipped the page once, then set it aside with deliberate calm.
