VLANCE
I hate my dad, that's all. That's why I signed all the papers they wanted me to sign because I wanted to messed around and give him another headache. I hate him for not being man enough to stop my mom from living us and I hate my mom too. They are such a losser cowards for being selfish. I grew up without a mother that is why I don't know how to be an elegant lady—I don't have someone to look up at to be the graceful lady that every man would wish to have as their girlfriend or wife. That is why, I promised myself that I will never become a mother or a wife because I don't want my children to end up becoming a mess like me.

"Miss Del Prado! Are you going to skip my class again? Ano pa ba ang gusto mong gawin maliban sa matulog, manggulo, o kaya tumakas?" Professor Cheng Go yelled at me when he saw me pass the hallway, riding on my hoverboard. I don't go to classes most of the time. Sometimes, if I come, I usually just sleep or messed around. Last year, I always messed around his class because all my classmate are from the elites; they took studies for granted so I just mess and annoy my classmates. But this year, most of my classmates in his class are scholar students so I just sleep or much better, just skip the class for them to focus on studying.
"Actually, I would also like to fail your class, again. Stop wasting your time nagging at me, you old man!" I don't respect that man because he only favors those students who are from the elite family. I am the only elite student whom he can't get along with because I'm rude to him.
"You, Insolent rude kid!—" I run my hoverboard faster and left him without even waiting for him to finish from talking.
After going to Duke's office, I brought Anna back at home and went straight at the school. I actually don't feel like coming to school today, but Dannelle invited me to join them as she celebrates a small thanks giving at our favorite spot—the soccer field. She told us that she have been receiving plenty of blessings one after another. I heard from her, that the YGGC increased her allowance for making it on the dean's list. She's also moving soon into a simple apartment near our university which was lent to her by her kind boss and was also given some other new stuffs she may need. It was indeed a great blessings to celebrate.
When I got there, I immediately saw them enjoying their early lunch with the other scholar students. Most of the time, they spend their vacant time here than to be at the library. They said, the ambiance and the fresh air here—at the side of the soccer field, gives them much comfort to study. There is also a giant old lushed tree which blocks the heat of the sun.
I drove my hoverboard going to their direction and when I reached them, I turned off my hoverboard and sat down, squatting on the grass, joining them. "Dannelle, bakit nga pala hindi natuloy noong isang araw? Kamusta pala ang punta mo sa YGGC? Nakita mo ba si Mr. Ylvania? Nawala na sa isip kong kamustahin ang lakad mo sa YGGC, dahil alam mo naman na may exam tayo kahapon, kailangan natin mag-aral." Gino said, asking Dannelle.
The day before yesterday was supposed to be the initial scheduled day to celebrate Dannelle's thanks giving, but Dannelle just texted us that something came up so she have to postpone it today.
I looked at Dannelle waiting for her answer. Her facial expression suddenly changed as her face and ears turned red within just a blink of an eye and the beeds of sweats rushed out her forehead. "Hey! Danny girl, ayos ka lang?" I asked, snapping my fingers in front of her face.
"A-A-Ayos la-lang n-naman," she said, jittering.
Dannelle has a timid and quite but warm personality. She's the kind of girl which people usually referr to us—Hindi makabasag pingan. We are just the same age—eighteen and we're also at the same year level—first year college. The only difference is that, I always fail all my subject which is why, until now I'm still at my first year while on Dannelle's case, she can't afford to go to school in a regular basis because of poverty. She has to stop every now and then to work and earn for her study on the next school year. Luckily, she passed the exam for the full scholarship grants, granted by the YGGC.
"Ano'ng nagyari?" I asked.
"Ah, eh, uhm?" Hindi mapirme ang kilos niya.
My lips curved in a teasing kind of way. I smell something is up in to her. I guess, she met Travis already. It is very obvious. "Nagkita na kayo ni Travis, 'no? Crush mo siya, 'no?" I started teasing her.
"Hindi! Hindi ko pa nakikilala si Sir Travis—"
"Uhm. Sobra kasi'ng palpak ng nangyari—"
"I-ku-kwento ko sa inyo pero kumain muna tayo," sabi niya.
"Eh, ba't namumula ka?" I asked, poking the side of her waist as I continue to tease her.
"Dannelle, salamat sa pagkain," all the other scholar students thanked her. Aling Pasing, the old janitress, is her too.
Dannelle handed me a pack of food which she prepared, and then I begun munching the foods. The other scholar students have their own groups, just a little distance from us. "Kase. Uhm. May nakilala akong empleyado ni Mr. Ylvania, Tristan ang pangalan," Dannelle's amber eyes automatically twinkled the moment she mentioned the name of Travis' employee whom she met. Even though she ensisted that they are only friends, I could sense that deep inside her, it was telling a whole different story.
Dannelle told us the whole story.
"Mabuti kung gano'n! Nako, Dannelle. Kung si Travis 'yon, lagot ka talaga. Demonyo 'yon eh. Mag-ingat ka kay Travis, 'wag kang lalapit sa halimaw na 'yon," banta ko.
"Kilala mo si Mr. Ylvania?"
"Nakita mo na siya?"
"Ano'ng itsura niya?" sunod-sunod na tanong nila.
"Don't you guys have an internet? search for it," I answered a little bit rudely. I don't feel like talking about other people.
Natawa sila.
"I'm just kidding," dagdag ko. Travis is the wealtiest man in the world, halos siya na ang nagpapaikot sa mundo dahil sa mga negosyo niya—isa na doon ang global computer network. Well, maybe, Travis would order his people to remove articles about him. I'd never seen him appread in televisions or newspapers. He's name maybe known by the world but only those who are from the elites knows him personally—I'm one of them.
"Ano'ng itsura ni Mr. Ylvania?" Dannelle asked curiously.
"He's a normal looking guy for me. But almost all women get f*****g crazy over him—" I was chewing the food while both of them was listening attentively on my stories.
"He's a psychopath like me. Ang pinagkaiba lang namin, literal na psycho ang gagong 'yon."
They are also eating their food while their eyes are still fixed at me, like they are listening to a fairy tail story.
"Masarap ang luto mo, Dannelle. What is this?" I asked. Dannelle packed the food in an eco friendly food packaging for us to eat conveniently.
"Bihon 'yan at adobong atay ng baboy. Mag kwento ka pa, Vlance." she said, excited to know more about Travis.
"Noong bata kami patay na patay siya sa isang batang hindi namin kilala. 'yon batang 'yon ang lagi niyang bukang bibig. We all thought he's gone crazy—baka multo 'yong bata kase hindi namin kilala. Antisocial at bipolar ang gagong 'yon, mula pa noon bata kami—"
"Pero unti-unti siyang nagbago at medyo nakikipaglaro na siya sa ibang mga bata. He always brag his invisible girlfriend to us. He's crazy! right?"
"But unfortunately, bumalik 'yong pagiging mailap niya sa tao mula noong namatay ang magulang niya sa car accident, kasama siya kung saan, siya lang ang nakaligtas," sabi ko.
"Anong pangalan nung crush niya?" tanong ni Gino.
"Urgh! Can't remember," I said.
"Matindi pala ang pinagdaanan ni Mr. Ylvania," Dannelle said with a sad tone of her sweet, warm voice.
"Ang sarap naman ng mga pagkain niyo! This adobong—what do you call this again?"
Tumawa sila bago sumagot. "Adobong atay ng baboy!" They both said half exclaiming, and then they laugh again.
"Nakakain pala ang atay ng baboy? I'll ask chef Jose to cook adobong atay ng baboy for me at home."
"Balib talaga ako sayo, Vlance. Wala kang kaartehan.
"Ugh! I love eating street foods, but the karinderya thing is kind a new to me. Call! let's go out tomorrow night," I answered.
I was missing in action for days now after the recent controversial riot that I had with Jacob Ledesma's losser group.
"Ang kakapal ng mukha niyo! Porque kayo ang tinaguriang The Heartbreakers at sikat kayo eh tingin niyo lahat na ng babae ay may gusto na sa inyo? Hoy! Hindi kita gusto, Jaden! 'wag kang feeling d'yan!" Natigil ako sa paglalakad nang marinig ko ang isang boses ng babae na galit na galit. Natawa ako sa narinig ko kung paano niya ipahiya ang grupo nina Jaden. I like girls who hates them.
I decided to look for them, and there I found the six idiots encircled around a beautiful girl at the corner, here at the parking lot.
The girl isn't familiar to me, but I could tell she's a scholar student base on her simple-looking getup. Well, elite girls never dressed up plain except for me, but even though I only wear t-shirts, sneakers, lounge pants—my clothes are still f*****g expensive. Just like my favorite The Beatle shirt—that costs estimately $20,000, if you convert it with the country's currency, this would be equivalent to one million pesos.
I cackled loudly like a witch and it echoed through the entire parking lot as I run my hoverboard to their direction. They all scowled at me with an insulted look painted on their faces. "Are you f*****g serious?" I spilled out with my voice shaking from too much laughter. "Six tall and strong guys versus a helpless girl? Come on, guys! you're destroying the masculinity of the entire manhood. You guys are such a lossers!"
"Shut up! You, psycho b***h!" They all together snarled at me like an angry dog with their firmed jaws and bare teeth.
Nakaka-awa kayo!" she yelled angrily, and then run away, living the six idiots to me at the parking lot.
"Woah! Well said," I said in a manner of insulting them as I blocked their way from running after the girl.
"Get out of our way! You, psycho devil!" Tyron pushes me causing me to stumble down.
"Let's make a deal!" I said half raising my voice in a hurry trying to stop them from chasing the girl. I did made them to stop, and then they faced me.
I stoop up and shook off the dust on my khaki short pants, and then step my feet back to my hoverboard.
"Deal?" Russel asked curiously, with his raised left brow. Just like him, the other idiots fixed a heavy stair at me with their eyes narrowed.
"I challenge you on a concert battle. Vlance versus the six idiots" I gave them an insulting grin, like a real devil as I am.
"How dare you call us idiots!" Liam exclaimed with too much indignation againt me.
"Fine!" I said in a mocking way.
"Vlance, the Troubellious Rockstar Princess versus The Heartstings or the Heartbreakers" I said as a gestured the two fingers of my hands and drew a quotation mark in the air.
Disgusting! That was the word came out at the back of my head as I said the word—Heartbreakers.
"How?" Jaf asked.
"Let's have a concert on the same day, but at different locations. I versus you. Who ever gets the most numbered sold tickets, will be the winner."
"What shall the winner could get?" Jaden asked.
"The winner won't get anything," I said bluntly.
They all let out a hard but weak, short chuckle which sounded like an "Are you kidding us?" kind of way.
"We're just wasting our time here," kyle said. They are about to live me, but I spoke again, which made them stop and faced me again.
"But the looser will," I said.
"What do you mean?" Jaden asked.
I turned around playing with my hoverboard. "The losser must become a slave, serving whatever the winner would command."
I continued playing with my hoverboard, circling around the six idiots. They look like a naive children who are about to get lured. "I could be your band's slave if I lose. I'll do whatever you would want me to do."
I stopped my hoverboard infront them. "But if you lose, you'll be my slaves."
They wasn't able to utter a single for about few seconds. "Deal!" Jaden bravely said.
"Are you out of your mind?" the other members reacted in objection.
"That psycho is a scam! She plays dirty tricks! You know that!"
"Why? Are you guys scared?" I said trying to provoke them.
"Hell, no! Deal!" They all together as if they were trying to prove their bravery to me.
"When?" Russel asked.
"It's up to you," I answered bluntly.
---
"Vlance! Diyos kong bata ka! You've been missing in action! Ang sakit na ng ulo namin sa 'yo! Patong-patong na ang issue na nireresolba namin at hindi ka man lang namin matawagan!" Mr. Kho, my manager, greeted me with his endless nags looking so burnt-out. His gray hair and wringles gots even more visible as days pass by. I'm the one to blame.
"Puro ka na lang sakit ng ulo! Ikaw lang sa lahat ng talents ko ang sakit sa ulo! Look what have you done! We lost three contracts because of your recklessness! Our sponsorships deals got cancelled while your signed contracts got terminated because you broke the agreements! Dahil sa 'yo na we paid the sponsors four hundred thousand pesos for breaking the contracts! This is a great lost for my agency!"
I drop my body at the couch and rested my feet at the coffee table on front me, ignoring him.
"Hoy! Vlance! Nakikinig ka ba?"
"Have you already talked with the SM Entertaiment?" I asked. SM Entertainment is the managing agency of the famous K-Pop girl group— Red Velvet.
"Oo, ikaw na lang ang hinihintay nila! Nakakahiya ka! They've been asking for an update kung kailan natin i-i-schedule ang colaboration concert niyo! Pero hindi kita matawagan!"
"Stop raising you voice," I said feeling exhausted. It seems like the day today felt so long.
I spread my arms and rested it on the backrest of the couch, same as with my head facing up the ceiling. "Paanong hindi ko tataasan ang boses ko! Patong-patong na ang problema sa 'yo! At noong isang araw pa ako kinukulit ng SM Entertainment! Nakakahiya sa kanila!"
"Let's schedule it on July 18," I said as if I am the boss.
"At sino'ng may sabi sayong ikaw ang masunod?"
"Then, let's just not push through with it," I said in a threatening manner.
"Ayan ka nanaman! Lagi na lang bang ikaw ang dapat masunod? Tuwing hindi nasusunod ang schedule na gusto mo hindi ka sumisipot sa concert. Nakakahiya naman sa mga fans mo. Ilang beses na namin kinailangan magsunungaling na naisugod ka sa ospital kaya kailangan ma-cancel ang concert kahit na ang totoo ay ayaw mo lang simipot dahil hindi nasunod 'yong schedule na gusto mo!"
"You mentioned before that you want to manage the Heartstrings, right?" Mr. Kho's face soften the moment he heard the six idiot's band name.
"Oh, ano naman ngayon?"
"Their contract with their managing agency will end next month. So I challenged them on a concert battle."
"And?" he asked wanting to know more.
"Whoever loses will become a slave. You could make them sign a contract with you if I defeat them." He's face slowly lit up as if he just heard the good news.
"So what's tour plan?"
"We agreed to schedule the concert battle on that date—July 18. If we schedule the concert with the Red Velvet, Im sure that will be a sure win." Red Velvet is freaking popular and so am I. Our internal fans will give us more sales increase. This will surely bring a total down fall for the six idots. Yes, I cheat. I always play crap.
"Okay, I'll inform the team. Ikaw naman, hindi mo agad sinasabi sa akin. Sige, magpahinga ka na d'yan," he said, delightedly. I grinned. Poor six idiots.
"Miss Vlance!"
"Chinny, asikasuhin mo si Vlance," Mr. Kho demanded, and then he continued his work on his table.
"Miss Vlance naman, bakit hindi mo sinasagot ang mga tawag namin?" Chinny said with a frown on her face and her lips pounted.
Chinny is two years younger than me. She's an orphan street child whom I took and gave her a job as my personal assistant. She's too naive and a clumsy to be a personal assistant but that's not a problem for me, I can take good care of myself. She needs a job so I gave her.
"Ako ang laging napagbubuntunan ng galit ni Manager Kho," she whined like a six years old child.
"'wag kang magulo, Chinny. Pagod ako," My voice sounds drained and my eyes are closed, trying to relax my body on the couch.
"Gusto mo imasahe kita? Bakit sobrang pagod ka ata ngayon?"
"I went to that crumpy old man's office, and I bumped in with the six idiots."
"Huh?" Chinny responsed with her raised brow.
"Never mind. What time is it?"
"6:30 PM. Akin na ang paa mo, mamasahein kita."
"No need."
"Miss Vlance!"
"Hoy! Saan ka nanaman pupunta?" Magkapanabayan nilang tawag sa akin. I just ignored them and left.
---
"Miss Vlance, nakikiusap kami. Parang awa mo na, kung p'wede umiwas ka sa gulo. Malalagot na talaga ako sa general manager namin." Jhon pleased at me.
"Hindi naman ako nang gugulo eh."
"Please, Kung meron man humamon sa 'yo, iwasan no na lang. Please?"
"Fine." I said.
I sat on the stool at the counter and then leaned my elbows on the countertop. "Absinthe," I told my order to Jessy.
Jessy, the bartender smiled at me. "Favorite, huh?" he said. He had memorized my favorite drink—the Traditional Absinthe. I heard that this drink was banned before, for being a dangerous psychoactive drug that was addictive. The color of it was my favorite color—green and I find the story interesting because of the word—psychoctive. The drink is just like me, so I always order it.
Jessy gave me the glass of my drink and I took it. I was about to gulp when suddenly, someone grab me at my back. The next thing I knew—a hard and heavy fist landed on my face.
