I guess it’s Landon, making a phone call out that makes her feel like the walls have ears. Luda’s jaw is open. “Roan begged you.” I take a long sip of my slushie. “Wait. Rewind. What happened right before that? What led to the great Alpha Roan getting on his knees?” Benita asks. My mind flashes with the raw look in his eyes and I conclude it. “Well… we were arguing.” “Yeah, obviously. And then he went from arguing to being on his knees, begging. That doesn’t just happen. Something must have rocked him to his core first. What was it?” My cheeks feel warm. “I don’t know what you’re asking.” Benita just levels me with a look. This girl doesn’t believe me.
