Boundless 9: His Begging

1695 Words
Shaken back to reality, I quickly shut the closet doors, walked back to the massive bed, and lay down. I checked my phone and saw a new message from him: We’re not done, but for now, take a rest. I’ll see you tomorrow.😘 Why is this man so aggressive? And why is he doing all this to me? I lay there staring at the high ceiling, waiting to see if he would walk back through the door. Slowly, exhaustion caught up with me, and everything faded to black. “You’re mine, Lauren. You’re like a drug to me, and I’m completely addicted... Love at first sight really is ruthless.” My eyes flew open. Was that a dream?! I tried to sit up, but a heavy weight was pinning me down. I looked over and gasped—Caleb was lying beside me, his bare arm wrapped tightly around my waist, his warm chest pressed flush against my back. “Ah! Help!” I screamed, realizing he wasn’t wearing a shirt. I scrambled to get out of bed, but he yanked me back instantly, flipping his body over to hover directly above me. “What are you doing?!” I yelled, pressing my hands against his bare chest. “I have work today! And stop acting like we’re close!” “You’re not going anywhere wearing my clothes,” he murmured, leaning down to capture my lips. “Wow, after what you did last night?! You complete jerk!” I shoved his face away. Okay, Lauren, calm down. Nothing actually happened last night. But just thinking about how close he got made my face burn with heat. “I bought you a fresh set of clothes,” Caleb said smoothly, unbothered by my outburst. “You can decide whether you want to go to work today or not.” “Pfft, it’s literally my second day! Don’t tell me you can make calls like that just because you’re Boss Jared’s assistant?!” Caleb just stared at me for a moment before bursting into a deep laugh. “Alright, get changed. We’re having breakfast together at the restaurant downstairs—the food there is incredible.” “Wait... you mean we are eating together? In public?” “Yeah. Why?” “Stop it! What right do you have to ask me out on a date?!” “Haha! Why not? We basically did everything else last night,” he teased. I stared at him, speechless. That was different! I’m in a professional workplace! “Wait... no morning kiss for your hubby?” he asked, smirking. “And since when do you try to act as my boyfriend?” I snapped. “And no! A kiss is definitely not happening!” “Pretty please? Just one?” “Stop it! You’re not my boyfriend, so stop acting like one!” “Yeah... you’re right. It’s just a fling,” he said flatly. The teasing smirk vanished from his face. The temperature in the room instantly plummeted, becoming so cold and suffocating I could barely breathe. He stared down at me with an unreadable expression, a sharp, cold glint in his eyes. He reached over, picked up the shopping bag containing my new clothes, and walked toward the door. “Since you don’t want to kiss me... no clothes for today. Bye, wifey.” The door slammed shut behind him. “Caleb! Bring those back here!” I screamed, pulling at my hair in frustration as I was left sitting on the bed. What am I supposed to do now?! My regular clothes were gone, and all I had on was his oversized shirt and boxers. I ran to the door and gave the handle a tug—it opened! I peeked out into the hallway and caught sight of several hotel staff members standing near the end of the corridor. Caleb was standing nearby talking to a manager, but his eyes immediately snapped to mine the moment I peeked out. You son of a b***h! I fumed as a small, amused smile tugged at the corner of his lips. I quickly pulled out my phone and dialed his number. He answered on the very first ring. I took a deep breath, leaned close to the microphone, and let out an exaggerated, breathy groan: “Ugh... baby, I want more... come back... ugh, hmm...” I immediately slammed the end-call button. Through the crack in the door, my eyes widened in absolute victory as I saw Caleb freeze. He had been on speakerphone. His entire face flushed bright red in front of the manager, who was staring at him in complete shock. Ha! You’re not the only one who knows how to play dirty! Caleb abruptly cut off his conversation with the man and began marching back toward the suite with long, purposeful strides. Panicking, I quickly shut the door and ducked behind the large wooden closet. Wait, why am I hiding?! The electronic lock beeped, and the door swung open. “Lauren... you want it that badly, huh?” Caleb’s deep voice echoed as he walked inside. “I love the way you moan... where are you?” He slowly walked toward the bed. I tiptoed out from behind the closet, crept up behind him, and tried to hit the back of his head. It was completely useless—he was way too tall, and his reflexes were terrifying. Before my hand could even touch his hair, he whipped around, grabbed my wrist, and pulled my waist tightly against his hips. “What do you think you’re doing, wifey?” he purred, his warm breath fanning against my skin. “Since when did a guy like you learn how to do that in a very accurate position?” I demanded, trying to create space between us. “My mother is Filipina... as gorgeous as you,” he answered softly, staring down at my lips. I scoffed. “Oh, so you’re a half-breed? Like a manananggal?” He blinked, looking genuinely confused. “What’s a manananggal?” “You know what, never mind! But you really understand everything I say?” “Yeah, I do. But some Tagalog words are a bit too deep for me,” he admitted smoothly. “So... what about your father?” I asked, unable to suppress my curiosity. “European.” “Ah, that explains the face. Now, can you please let go of me and hand over my clothes?” “Tell me what a manananggal is first.” “Search it on Google!” “Are they handsome like me?” My brain completely short-circuited. I stared at him, holding back a burst of laughter so hard I thought my lungs would burst. “Well? Are they?” he asked earnestly. “Yep! Exactly like you!” “That’s great.” “Oh yeah, they’re super hot,” I snickered. “Alright, here are your clothes,” he said, handing me the shopping bag, along with a sleek black keycard. “And this is your card for your meals.” He actually fell for it! What an i***t! “What do you mean, for my meals?” “Every time you eat at the hotel, just use that card—since you refused to let me join you.” Before I could reply, he leaned down, stole a quick kiss from my lips, and walked out the door. The moment the door locked shut, I burst into uncontrollable laughter. That guy is unbelievably drop-dead gorgeous, but he definitely has a few screws loose! Suddenly, my phone buzzed. It was a text from Dell: Girl, where are you?! I’ve been waiting forever! There are so many guests today! Shit! Work! I scrambled to put on the new clothes, tidied my hair, and rushed out of the room. What on earth are you doing, Lauren? Having a fling with the boss’s assistant?! I sprinted down to the lobby to help Dell assist the arriving guests. As I was handling a queue, my eyes caught sight of Caleb walking through the main hall with a group of high-profile delegates. The memory of last night instantly flooded my mind, and my hand instinctively clutched the fabric of my skirt. My body literally reacted just looking at him! “Hey, Lauren! Are you okay?” Dell asked, noticing my pale face. I snapped back to reality. “Ah, yeah! I’m fine!” My heart was pounding like a jackhammer. I glanced back toward the hallway, but Caleb was already gone. I let out a massive sigh of relief. “Hey beautiful, I love your rusty hair color,” a deep, accented voice called out. I turned to see a tall, handsome American guest smiling down at me. “Thank you, sir!” “You know, if you’re free after your shift, let’s grab a drink together,” he offered smoothly. Before I could even formulate a polite refusal, a cold, commanding voice echoed behind me. "NO." I whipped around. Caleb was standing right there, his expression devoid of all humor, radiating an intimidating aura of absolute authority. The American guest blinked in surprise. “Oh, sorry, Mr. Jayce... is she your woman?” “You don’t have the authority to touch my property,” Caleb said coldly, his voice dripping with danger. “But anyway, your suite is ready, Mr. James.” “Alright, Jayce. See you around,” the guest said quickly, taking his room keys and hurrying toward the elevators. I stood there, completely stunned by the interaction. Caleb stepped closer to me. “I told you... you can stay in the suite if you want to.” “Where do you keep coming from?! Why do you keep popping up out of nowhere?!” I hissed under my breath. He leaned down, his lips brushing against my ear as he whispered: “No one touches you. Only me.” I instantly backed away, my cheeks burning. “Hello?! I am literally standing right here!” Dell chimed in, interrupting us. I had completely forgotten she was beside me.
