She did her best to avoid her uncle in the following days. She kept quiet. Her father would never believe her. No doubt he would have called her a liar, just like her w***e of a mother. She risked being sent back to Dubai and to her father if she opened her mouth. So she kept it shut. She had turned her uncle away. He could not stand it. Already he had called Samana’s father to warn him he was about to send her back. His child would soon be born. His wife was weak. There were excuses aplenty. Samana’s father was full of resentment. His voice was thundering on the phone. He accused her of behaving inappropriately, with great ingratitude for her generous uncle. He was waiting for her at the airport but did not see her. He could not single her out among the flow of khapias rushing to Dubai
