The Girls

Chapter 1 - Samuel "Sammy!!!!"  "SAMMY!" "SAMMY!!!!!" Two extremely loud yet jovial voices called out for me, even if I tried to pretend I wasn't listening to them as I fled away from the Elder wolf that wouldn't leave me alone in the last weeks since my father and I decided to stay here so I could learn better about how to handle my powers and more about what I really was. ... It might sound weird, but I had never stopped to talk to other witches before about what we are... And my, darling, mother who wanted to kill me wasn't the best person to ask about it too... "Sammy!" Both little girls said while they hugged my legs, smilies on their faces as they looked up to me... Strangely children were attached to me, Summer and Dahlia, Kristian's daughter and little sister, being no exception and the perfect proof about it. "..." I sighed, seeing their puppy eyes before bending down to talk to them. "Sorry, I didn't hear you guys calling for me. What do you need?" I didn't care to lie to them about it, and by the little giggles they gave away, they didn't care about that either before Dahlia mentioned that she had forgotten that Witches couldn't hear so well as they did. "Yes, you're right. Our hearing is just like humans, and mine is even worse since I'm half-human." Agreeing with her, I turned my ear to them, pretending that I was trying to hear what they were going to say and it made the girls laugh even harder. "But then, what do you want with me?" "Can you make us fly again!" Summer was the one who answered my question quickly before I put my hand over her mouth, making sure no one was listening to us. "What did I say to you?" In a whisper, I asked them. "That it was a secret between us." Mimicking me, they both responded at the same time, almost like twins.  ... They could be, considering how much time they spent together, yet sadly, they didn't have the same age... "Good." I smile at them, and they give me back the gesture. "I can't play with you guys right now, I need to go study with Harley, so we'll have to do this later, ok?" They both looked sad to me as they found out about this while I could just pay attention to his presence there with us... He was watching us from afar, but I knew he would not come to talk to me if I was talking to the girls. "Grandpa Harley really needs you?" Summer asked me in between her coiled words, but I could understand her perfectly, and the curiosity in her eyes indicated that she expected me to say that I could do it some other time... And actually, I could. "Yes, I need to see him today." I lied to them because I knew he would spend the rest of the afternoon behind me if I stayed here, so learn about how to control my powers was a much better option at the time, especially when I knew Harley would be home since he told me this, in the begin of the week, mentioning that I could show up there at any moment because he would be working from home in something that I couldn't remember exactly what it was. ... Harley knew that learning about all these supernatural things could be exhausting for me sometimes, so he always tried to give me some free time like today...  "... But we can play when I came back, okay?" I ended up speaking when I noticed the melancholy on the two little girls' faces, even if I knew that they could kill any grown man on their own after seeing their training with Kristian and Jackson... Werewolves were very scaring beings to me, losing only for Witches... For obvious reasons... "You promise???" Dahlia spoke in a louder voice, showing me her little finger, being it something that I taught her. "Promise," I assured her, interlaced my finger with hers just like the Japanese shows that I used to watch, and yet watched sometimes. "Me too! Me too!" Almost knocking me to the ground, Summer spoke excitedly, as she showed me her small hand. "Me too, Sammy!" "Yes, yes. You too, Summer." Although I didn't like the feminine nickname they used to call me, I had already given up in trying to correct them about it, so I kept the smile on my face while confirming that I would play with her later as well. "I promise, Summer, I'll play with you two later, okay?" "OK!" Speaking again at the same time, they smiled at me before holding hands and rushing back toward the Pack's house to do something that children in their age did, and a similar smile appearing on my face without I even realizing it as I saw them going away. ... It wasn't my fault that I liked to know they could grow up here in peace without worrying about anything else, being just kids as they should be...   "You're very good at dealing with children. You'll be a good father someday." He spoke beside me, and I had even forgotten about him for a second. "No, I'm not, they are the ones who like me, and they are easy to deal with, just this." For the thousandth time on that day, I lie again. "No, that's not true. I saw how you deal with the other kids in the Pack too, and they all like you." Unlike adults, children were simple to deal with, and for the most part, they were innocent in their actions, so I didn't mind interacting with them this much. "So, I don't think I'm wrong. You'll be a good father in the future."   ... He kept insisting on his idea... "Besides, I'll be with you when this happens, I'm sure everything will work out perfectly fine, you'll see," His words made me stop on my way to the big garage that this place had as I understand what he meant with that. "No... This will never happen." I mentioned, and even before he could go against me, I didn't give him time to. "I'm not planning on having any children in any future, and about us? This will never happen too, I'm not your Mate, and my Soulmate is already dead as I said to you before, so leave me alone." Clearer than the clouds in the sky was the sadness in his eyes, and the remorse I felt after telling him that, even though those words were something I always spoke to him since we first met ... The feeling always weighed on my chest, even if I knew he couldn't be right about this craziness as I looked to our left hands... Nothing had changed since She died, they would never come back, and the emptiness from that day was yet deep in my heart.
