Family Nite

I decided to get ready since it was already six and it's a thirty-minute drive. I put on my black lacy dress, a heart choker, fishnet gloves to cover my scars, and black platforms. I love the color black. I did black eyeshadow with glitter, same with the lipstick. I had to hurry with the makeup because I remembered how bad the traffic was. I hurriedly curled my black hair and ended up burning myself a few times by accident. I checked the time and it was 7:45. I sighed and texted Uncle Jensen that I would be late. Sorry, Uncle Jensen, I'm just now leaving my apartment, I'll be a little late. It's okay. My boss is already here and dinner will be late anyway. He's already there?! Who is that punctual? A fifty-year-old man with a wife to keep him in line, that's who. I ran out to my car, nearly forgetting my phone. I hadn't checked my notifications since last night, but I need to soon. I brushed it off and just started driving. I turned the radio on and it was all about that stupid construction company that had a new owner. I couldn't care less that Briggs Construction has a new possessor just play me some music! The drive was over before I knew it and it was already 8:40. I am so late. Hopefully they haven't eaten yet. I knocked on the front door and waited. Uncle Jensen answered and had his signature smirk on his face. "About time you got here." He joked. "Traffic was terrible." I stated while walking in. The house smelled of cinnamon and it gave that warm and cozy feeling whenever you walked in. Sitting on the couch was an amazingly hot young man. He had dirty blonde hair, green eyes, an impressive jawline and, super plump pink lips that looked utterly kissable. His eyes scanned my form and he stood up to greet me. I had to look up at him because he was considerably taller than me. "I'm Chase." He extended his hand to me. "Akira." I mumbled and shook his hand. It was soft and warm and I wanted to hold it, but I knew that would be really weird. "Akira, Chase is my boss at my new job." Uncle Jensen smiled. "You never even told me what your new job is." I rolled my eyes playfully. "Briggs Construction. I own it. He works as a blueprint designer." Chase cut in. I gave him a bewildered look. He's Chase Briggs? I thought Chase Briggs was like a fifty-year-old man with Alzheimer's whose wife had to make sure he remembered everything he needed to. "Something wrong?" Chase questioned. I shook my head lightly. "I just thought you'd be older. Usually, young men need a wife to keep them in line, most of the time, older ones do too." I blurted out without thinking. Chase looked taken aback by my statement. "We taught her well, Jensen!" Aunt Terry shouted from the kitchen. Uncle Jensen joined Aunt Terry to help set the table. "I-I'm sorry. I know that's offensive." I apologized, stuttering a little. He smiled his 1000 watt grin again. "It's fine. I get that a lot. I just wasn't expecting it from you... But I must ask, did it ever occur to you that good husbands take care of their wives?" He inquired with a smirk, testing me. "I just never thought there were any decent men my age that weren't gay." I shrugged, playing it off as if his challenge didn't affect me. "You don't know me well enough then." He smirked again. "Come eat!" Aunt Terry yelled again. I could hear the smile in her voice. The table had four chairs. Two on each side. Aunt Terry and Uncle Jensen sat beside each other on one side, leaving Chase and I to sit beside each other. I sent a glare toward my uncle and he just smiled innocently. He planned this! Oh, he is so dead. "Sweetie are you going to sit down or just keep staring at me? I mean, I know I'm attractive but the food looks good." Uncle Jensen bantered. I playfully rolled my eyes and laughed. Uncle Jensen has always been a jokester, same with Aunt Terry. Aunt Terry has been surprisingly quiet this evening. The only time she's quiet is when she's planning something. I took my seat and tried my best to ignore the handsome man beside me. "So, Akira, what do you do for a living?" Chase asked while filling his bowl up with spaghetti. I froze up for a second. I didn't know what to say. I've never really been asked this question. I thought quickly before I responded. "I- uh- I'm a computer programmer and a cosmetologist on the side." I lied terribly. My voice had faltered throughout the sentence, giving me away. Chase raised one eyebrow at my statement. My throat went dry and I sent a look toward my aunt and uncle for help. "It's okay. You can tell him." Uncle Jensen nodded. I sighed and gave him a look. "I hack programs for money. Yes, it's illegal. I could face life in prison for all I've done." I admitted, getting my food without making eye contact and putting it on my plate. "That sounds... risky." He smiled approvingly. "I bet you get a lot of weird emails working in that field." I gave him a suspicious look. I never told him I use email as my communication choice. "How did you know I use email?" I interrogated. Chase sighed and looked at Uncle Jensen. "I told him about the deal you got with that guy. The one that offered you 5 million for sex." Jensen confessed. I looked down at the spaghetti and played with it, not knowing what to say. "I agree that you should take it. Unless, of course, you're not ready." Chase shrugged. "It's like he's asking me to be some high-class p********e that's great at s*x having never even kissed anyone." I laughed, eating my food. I couldn't care less that we're talking about s*x while eating. I mean, it's a natural human instinct. "There is no way that you've never kissed anyone." Chase gasped. I thought the gasp had been fake until I saw his genuinely shocked expression. "I've never even had one those stupid middle school relationships or high school ones either. I kept to myself and my computer." I explained with a proud smile. I never cared much for relationships. Yes, maybe I did want one at times but it's not like I ever acted on it. "Wow." He whispered. I jumped when my phone started ringing. It was my other uncle, Bill. He's a policeman and only calls when something is up. "I- I have to take this. It's Bill." I simply said before walking into another room to answer my cell. "What's up? Is something wrong?" I asked. "Hey, are you out of your house right now?" Bill inquired. "Yeah. I'm at Uncle Jensen and Aunt Terry's house." I clarified. Ben sighed and responded. "There's a roadblock put up around your neighborhood. We're trying to catch someone dangerous. Please don't try to come home until we've caught them." Ben begged, knowing I would want to come get my things. "Fine. I'll stay somewhere safe. Thank you for letting me know. Call me whenever the roadblock is taken down." I sighed, defeated. "Will do." He replied and hung up. I walked back into the dining room and sat back down at my seat. "There's a roadblock around my neighborhood. Can I stay here tonight?" I requested. "You can stay with me. I have plenty of room and even an indoor hot tub. I can have a maid send in some extra clothes if you don't have any." Chase offered, smiling a little too big. Before I could say anything, Aunt Terry cut in. "That sounds great. She would love that, Chase." Aunt Terry beamed, silently thanking him. I sent her a glare. I barely know him. "You still have some clothes in your old room that you can take. Maybe even a swimsuit." Uncle Jensen added with another one of his signature smirks. "Guys, calm down. He's probably just being polite. A rich guy like him probably wouldn't like some stranger crashing at his place." I told my Aunt and Uncle. I may or may not have forgotten that he was sitting right beside me. I felt his knee brush mine as he turned to face me. "You've got me all wrong, sweetie. I would absolutely love for a beautiful girl like you to stay with me. Rich or not, I'm still a gentleman." He smiled, making sure to make eye contact with me to see my reaction. "I guess I'm staying with you then." I finalized. 4LPH4G1RL signing off
