Chapter 9: A New Look
POV: Gift
When I opened my eyes the next morning, a large black snout and two bright blue eyes were the first things I saw in front of my face. Vharkan was sitting right on my chest while quickly flapping his tiny wings. Beside him, Lumi was still sleeping soundly while hugging my arm, her tiny mouth open and a little drool running down her white cheek.
“Good morning, my cute babies,” I whispered with a yawn. I picked up Vharkan and kissed his forehead before slowly getting up, but when I sat on the edge of the bed, a familiar and unpleasant smell suddenly entered my nose. I frowned. I lifted the end of my blouse to my nose and smelled it. Yuck. I immediately made a face. I smelled like the moldy cell, the smoke from the kitchen yesterday, and a little sweat.
