Cocktail Party

2729 Words
Meera's POV   Time went as smoothly as it came. With in a blink of an eye its the first week of May. Just 2 weeks left for the grand wedding to take place. Two weeks to declare everything settled. 2 weeks for the result of so many sacrifices. Just 2 weeks, and everything will be sorted. Oh by the way, today is Sana and Aarsh's pre-wedding cocktail party. Thankfully the arrangements didn't fall on my shoulders. Thanks to everyone of our friends, I was spared. If not for them then Aarsh would have given me all the responsibilities. All of our friends just said one thing - she is human, she will have fun now. That's all, the argument was over. Thank god.    Its been just over an year, me being Aarsh's PA. The first time when I went to join him and comparing it with today, lots of things have changed. I became confident, somewhere or the other I was little less worried about our past, I got my friends back, my life was over all contend. Once this wedding gets over, I won't have to worry about Aarsh anymore. The fact will still remain the same, but I guess this arrangement is the best for everyone. It took some time, but somehow I have managed to overcome this pain, I guess destined one are really real. But glad its just me who has to endure it. Well, I am not saying Aarsh can't endure it, its more like he wouldn't endure it. Nevertheless, all's well that ends well.   I am currently at the venue of the party. The party starts at 7, still 1 whole hour is left. We, Sana and Aarsh and our common friends came 2 days ago, well its two hours from the main city. Plus the scenery is gorgeous. Its a beach house. We have a section of beach where only we can enjoy and no one else. Well, perks of being a billionaire I guess. The property is huge. It has 7 bedrooms, 3 floors, 1 office and study, a huge patio, a pool, and lots of other amenities. In short the house has everything you need to have fun. We enjoyed a lot these 2 days. Obviously, Aarash was reluctant at first. He gave me the permission to come here without him, promised me he won't deduct my salary. But because of my stubborness of leaving him alone, he has to come here. Yayeee.   Being a PA is not a bad job I guess. The problem is only that, I couldn't stop my urge coming here this early to the party to check all the arrangements myself. Well, I guess it has become my occupational hazard! Nevertheless, I don't mind. Aarsh is still my boss and a friend too, I want all the preparations to be perfect for many reasons. All of us are prepared, for Deepak. When both of us told everyone about Deepak, everyone was shocked, well angry and shocked to be precise. Everyone questioned about our decision. It hardly matter how much we tried to convince that it was Deepak who invited himself and we were just forced to agree with him. Well, I guess no one bought our pathetic excuse. However, Sana and company agreed to the plan that we had to keep Sana and Shagun away from Deepak.   "Hey everything is set?" Shagun asked. "Ya don't worry, everything is set. Just stick with me." "Meeru, am not afraid, not at all. Chill. I trust you and Aarsh. Moreover, what the f**k will he do infront of everyone. See there will be a lot of people, and how much we know him, am pretty much sure he won't create a scene in public. Plus you all will be there. And I would say give the protection to Sana, she needs it more." "Why?" "Like seriously, come on. She looks ravishing. Who will look at me rather than looking at her? So chill." "But still it is my duty to keep you safe." We turned to see who it was, and it was none other the groom himself. "Wow Aarsh, you look dashing."   True to Shagun's words, he looked spectacular. With black and golden sherwani, hairs back brushed, light stubble, and a glint in those eyes, he looked more than ravishing. He walked to us. "You girls are looking out of the world as well." "Well thank you." Both of us muttered at the same time. "So, I will go and check others' progress. Aarsh, Meera you continue." With that Shagun left. "So, how you feeling?" I started. "Good, nervous." "Today is just a party, Aarsh. Chillax." "I know but am nervous." "Its alright. Its normal." "Well, I guess it is." "So , do you like the arrangements?" "Ya they are pretty good." "See I told you, trust the designer more than me. Its her job." "Ya ya, whatever. By the way you look spectacular in this half and half. See my choices are the best." "Wow, flatter yourself boy! I selected it first." "Ya, but I confirmed it." He winked and earned a glare from me.   Lets not remember the day I went to shopping. God it was cruel. Whatever I selected, Shagun rejected it then and there. We went to four different malls to buy what 5-6 pairs of cloths. Who does that? Well clearly not me. Shagun rejected everything I liked. After being to 4 different malls, and not buying anything, depressed me a lot. So Aarsh took the opportunity, bought all my cloths along with matching jewelleries and other accessories from online. Thank God I didn't have to spend another day roaming from one mall to another. As the cloths and other items were bought online, it was quite cheap and the quality was ok. Am thankful that I look good by the end of the day, phew.    "Ok, now lets not fight anymore. The guests have started to come. Lets see if he has come or not. Remember the moment he enters the gate, we have to alert." "Aye aye captain." "Meera, stop joking, am serious." "Ok, am sorry. I was just trying to lighten your mood. Am seeing you for last 2 days. You are hell nervous. Nothing will happen to anyone. We all are here. See. Our friends, Sana's brothers, your cousins, your friends. Every single one here cares for Sana. Nothing will happen Aarsh. please calm down." "I can't Meera, I just can't. I know everyone is here. Somewhere I know he won't dare to do anything stupid. But there is a constant feeling in my heart that something will go wrong today. What will be that I don't know. am just scared." I can clearly see he is nervous, somewhere down the line even I was scared. He moved closer to me and said, "Promise me, if you find yourself in any problem you will call me." "Of course Aarsh, I will. No matter what, if I find myself in any problem, I will reach you out." "Thank you. And try to remember that."   With these words he left to attend the guests. Listening to his words, scared me a bit more. I know he is overthinking. But truly this matter screams danger. Even I feel bit uneasy the entire time. Lets just hope everything goes well till the very end. Aarsh's POV   Finally he came, the one I was waiting for. Its not that that am excited to see him. Come on, am not a one who fancy him, but exactly the opposite. I was quite nervous with the turmoil going inside my heart. The main reason I came here 2 days ago with everyone was just to make sure that this beach house doesn't contain any area which can be turned dangerous by him. By the close inspection, everything was fine. Still that feeling of something bad is gonna happen, didn't leave my system. Am sure about Sana's security. Shagun being my guest, she is also my responsibility, thank god Meera will be there with her. But I just don't know or understand this weird feeling of uneasiness. Its just strange.   I welcomed Deepak. It was ok kind of thing. He brought his PA with him. As soon as they entered they got busy, communicating with people. I hardly called any people from work. Obviously, I called Vivek bhai. But hardly anyone else. My employees hardly know Sana, and whoever knows doesn't like her much. They never said it in person, but they have showed it in ways. Well, I don't blame any one neither I ask Sana to do something that might lift up her image. I mean, she never gets involved in my work, she hardly comes to my office. So it doesn't matter how her relationship is with my employees. As long as they respect her, forcefully might be, and she treats them the way they are supposed to be, am not complaining.    Soon Sana entered the garden. Maithili and all other other girls brought her out. Her gown with Indian detailing looked pretty on her. Its a black and golden gown, kind of matching, all because of her. She came to me, stood beside my. We gave a welcoming speech. Everyone came forward and congratulated us. We told them to attend our wedding after two weeks. Soon Deepak came to the stage. As soon as everyone saw him approaching, Sana turned cold. I could feel how easily she turned from being happy to cold.    "Hey, Sana, long time ya? Well, congratulations. You are finally getting married. I just hope he cherishes you as much as I did. Aarsh, my friend, she was stunning girl. Most eye catching most domineering. I believe she turned a better version as a woman. I congratulate to you too for getting the jackpot. All the best for your future." The moment his words ended, Sana said, "Well thank you Deepak. Thanks for all the compliment. And yes, I have improved a lot after your departure from my life and that helped me to be a better version of myself. But honestly speaking, I hit the jackpot because I got Aarsh." She said the last part entangling our hands. I just smiled at her and then turned to him and smirked. Although I still think am not ready for this marriage or for this change, but am not going to let anyone disrespect my future wife. I may not love her whole heartedly, but I will never let her be disrespected. And more over I like the fact that Sana knows how to stand up.   "Well, you really think that by marrying Aarsh, you are getting the jackpot? Well, come on Sana, don't be so humble. We all know who the f**k is being rewarded and who the f**k is being getting trapped. Well, no-" "And who the f**k are you to judge their relationship? Come on, lets get serious." "Am being serious Meera. don't you think your boss hit the jackpot." "Well, may be he has. But my boss' client, Sana is also quite lucky to have a husband like Aarsh. She is lucky as she broke up with you at correct time, and gave a chance to Aarsh. She is lucky that everyone is there to support her with Aarsh. When you went away from her life, all the unlucky omens went with you. So luck had to come to her way." Wow. She is on fire. Anybody hardly stood for me. But she did. And did really well. She fought for me, saved Sana's image and making that i***t's mouth shut.   "What happened casanova, cat caught your tongue?" Meera asked after what like 10 seconds of complete silence from Deepak. "No Meera, am just speechless. Is this the way you should talk to your boss' clients. Am sure he didn't teach you this. You know its all because of your bad virtues you got from your parents. Middle class parents gave middle class virtues to their kids. Bloody awful-" "Mind your tongue Deepak. Am not saying anything because I have patience. Another word from my your mouth against Meera or her parents, then I will show you your place. Did you get that? You better get that!" I said after not able to tolerate the way he was insulting Meera. "You see, today, Meera is not my PA, she is my friend, a very close friend. So the way she stood up for me, I will do the same for her. Even if she would have been the PA tonight, I wouldn't have allowed you to speak this way to her. Deepak, for you girls are toys. That's a middle class mentally. But for Meera friends are everything; that's a rich virtue. Money can't buy everything. Always keep that in mind. Now go and enjoy the party if you want." I said and dismissed him.     After he went away, I looked at Meera. She seemed a bit sad, but soon masked her emotions. Sana came forward to say something to me. I gestured her to wait. "Hey, its alright. All of go and enjoy the party. I asked you to be near Sana, that doesn't mean you guys will act like her bodyguard. Come on, move on." I joked with them. They got it and went on to enjoy the way they wanted to. I turned my attention to Sana and said, "Now tell me what do you wanted to say." "What exactly was that Aarsh? Are you nuts? What happened to you today? You know, the reason I handled him softly was because he is one of your clients. I also wanted to say a lot of things to him, but I didn't just because of you. And you? Just because he said some words to Meera, you burst out? Why? He said bad things about you too, but you didn't say anything, then why did you lose your patience when he said 2 words about Meera, huh?"   I was speechless, f*****g speechless. "Sana, what's wrong with you? Firstly, he said about Meera's upbringing and her parents which is completely wrong. She just stood up for me like you did. How can I let anyone insult her just because she stood up for me? I can't let anyone insult her. She is my friend, our friend. And the reason I didn't burst out when he said things about me because I don't care what he thinks or says about me, it hardly matters to me. If he had said something bad about you I would have stood up for you too, but he didn't. You should appreciate me for standing up for Meera, but instead of that you are arguing with me. Wow! Unbelievable."   "You are unbelievable Aarsh, not me. Since Meera has come back to our life you seemed to be defending her, protecting her like anything. What is going on Aarsh? Tell me clearly, don't you wanna marry me baby?" "From where the hell is this coming Sana. Yes its true I care for her, defend her, protect her, but that is different from what we have. I spend my maximum time with her that's why I am close to her. In last few she became my best friend. You know, she is the one who convinced me to marry so soon. I talked to you, requested you to delay the wedding. But you didn't listen me. Instead of convincing me, you just whined. But she took up your job and convinced me to go along with it. Now tell me, how can you let the person who is so important to you be insulted by some low life like Deepak. I don't know about you but I can't bare it in my presence."  With that I left her on the stage to get some fresh air.   What she told back on the stage was quite mind opening. My heart wants Meera, still now, even for a little bit, but my mind keeps on telling its wrong. In 2 weeks my life will completely change, I will be a married person. But I still can't stop thinking about Meera. I know it sounds perverted. but I just can't take my mind off from her. I need fresh air. A good long fresh air.
