Chapter 25: Hide and Seek!

1782 Words
For the first time since the wedding, Matt was excited. He was finally returning to the UK to be with the person he was destined to be with. Matt was under no illusion that he had set himself a mammoth task.  Matt had heard from his father about the meeting he had with Lisa. Matt had to walk out of the boardroom before he punched his father. The thought of Lisa seeing the pictures of his wedding with no explanation was almost too much to bear. No, he would win Lisa back. Whatever it took, he would win her back and return to Brazil with her as his mistress.  "Mistress?" Matt thought bitterly. Such a term was insulting to what he felt for Lisa. In everything but name, Lisa would be his wife. He would willingly share his life and fortune with her. In time, they would have children and they would be happy. All he needed to do was make her say yes. "Boss, we are going to land soon," Simon said. "Are the preparations made?" Matt asked. "Yes, a car is waiting for you with what you asked for. It will be ready as soon as the introductions are done. " Simon said in a low voice. "I hope the British weather does not ruin my complexion completely. I heard it is such a miserable little country after all! " Trina moaned as she sipped on another cocktail. "Drunk again, are we, Trina?" Matt growled. "You would be too if you had to be married to you!" "Don’t blame me for your alcohol problems; you had them long before you met me!" "True, but you don’t help. What red-blooded Brazilian man does not touch his wife? " Trina said, pouting. "One that has walked in on his supposed wife numerous times with other men. You know the deal, we are married in name only. But you will never share my bed or my heart! " Trina scoffed and said, "Your bed and heart? I want neither your withered c**k nor your black heart. I doubt your little British mouse wants them either, from what I hear. " Matt walked over and leaned over Trina before saying, "I am only going to say this once. You will sober up and act like a normal human being in front of your friends. I won’t be embarrassed by you, understand? " "Yes, dearest husband!" Trina remarked sarcastically. Matt stood up straight and turned to the flight attendants. "Clean her up!" Blackwoods’ Home Matt, I am so happy to see you! But where is... your wife? " Alannah asked carefully. "It is good to see you, my old friend. I apologise for my wife’s absence. She was tired after the flight. She is anxious to meet you and apologises," Matt said. Matt saw Kurt frown and realised that he knew the truth. Despite Simons' and flight attendants' efforts, Trina passed out due to alcohol. "Never mind, I am sure we will meet her soon. Now, my friend, your obligations have been met. I am sure that there is somewhere you would much rather be. " Alannah said with a smile.  Kurt smiled too and said, "Go, she won’t wait forever!" "Thank you, my friends!" Matt said as he nodded and rushed out of the apartment. He rushed down to his waiting car, where, as ordered, was a large bouquet of sweetpeas. Matt knew it was nowhere near enough, but it might get Lisa not to slam the door in his face. He fidgeted nervously as the driver made his way through the rush hour traffic.  After what seemed like a lifetime, the car finally drew up outside Lisa’s door. Matt remembered the last time he was there and the promises he made to her. Matt took a deep breath as he climbed the steps and pressed the doorbell. He tried to slow his racing heart as he heard movement behind the door. "Lisa, my love, I am finally here!" Matt said but stopped when he saw a large man open the door. "Has Lisa moved on?" Matt thought as his heart skipped a beat. "Sorry, is Lisa in?" Matt asked. " Lisa? There is no Lisa living here now, sorry. " The man said.  "What?" Matt said, feeling the blood drain from his face. Yeah, me and my wife moved into this place about a month ago. I'm guessing Lisa was the old tenant, going by the post. We forwarded it on to J. Collins at the Royal Docs. Maybe she moved in there." The man explained. "Maybe. Thank you and sorry for disrupting your evening, "Matt said as he turned to leave. "Of course, it was Jack Collins' place that her post is forwarded to. That was not good news. She could be anywhere by now." Matt thought as he cursed. "No problems, buddy."  Matt got into the car and ordered, "Take me to the Collins Warehouse now!" Matt would make Collins tell him when his Amoreco was. Jack Collins' Warehouse, Royal Docks. "I am glad you are having a good time, Will. How are Emily and Lisa? " Jack asked his cousin if he was FaceTiming. "Emily is worried about Lisa. Lisa won’t talk at all about what happened. She just keeps training and cleaning. " Will answered with a sigh. "We all deal with things in our own way. It must have been a shock to hear about Matt, " Jack replied. "Lisa is too good for him anyway!" Will said with a shrug. "Isn’t that the truth? Hang on, I have to go. Someone is stupid enough to try and get past Liam. " Jack said as he hung up. He heard shouting and banging before his door burst open. It was Liam, Matt’s second-in-command. "Boss, it is," Liam said, pinching his bloody nose. "Let me guess, Matteo Maldonado?" Jack said with a sigh. "So, you're not as stupid as you look." "Matt said as he pushed past Liam and walked into Jack’s office.  "I take that as a compliment. Though I am getting a bit tired of Maldonado’s trespassing on my territory, " Jack said as he motioned for Matt to sit. Matt did, and Jack said, "Leave us Liam, this won’t take long."  "Are you sure, boss?" Liam said, unsure. "Yes, go and make sure the moorings are tight on the last trawler we got in," Jack said. Liam nodded, knowing that Jack had just given the signal for Kurt and Alannah to be contacted. When the door was shut, Jack smiled and said, "What can I do for you?" "Where is she? Tell me where she is and I can promise you that you will walk out of here unharmed. " Matt promised. "Who?" Jack said, innocently. "Lisa, Lisa Mitchell." "I am afraid I don’t..." Jack started to say. Matt banged his fists down on the table and said, "Don’t lie to me, fish-walker! Where is she? Tell me now! " Matt roared. Jack did not blink. He was not the first syndicate leader who had shouted at him. "No," Jack said simply with a shrug. "What?" Matt said. "No. You see, you don’t get to come into my territory and make demands. That is not how this works. "  "No? So tell me how it works. " "You come in and ask nicely for a start," Jack said, with a smile. "Are you serious?" Matt asked. "Very." "Fine. Jack, can you please tell me where Lisa Mitchell is? " "May I ask why you, a recently married man, want to know where a single woman is?" Jack asked. "Is that any of your business? I don’t think so. " Matt pointed out. "That is where you are wrong. She might be a civilian, but her sister is dating my cousin. That makes her a Grey Seal. So I ask you again: what do you want with Lisa Mitchell? " Matt frowned and said, "I want to clear some matters of a personal nature." "Oh, so you want to tell her you are not married? That the photos that your father showed her in her own living room were fake? " Jack said, his eyes flashing in anger. "They weren’t fake." "So you are married? Oh, which means you want Lisa to be... how to put it? Your mistress? " Jack said with a small smile. "And? I wouldn’t be the first man to have a mistress," Matt said, "No. But you are the first man to want Lisa Mitchell as your mistress. I will save you the effort of asking her. She will say no. " How can you be so sure? I can be very persuasive when I want to be. " Matt argued. "Yes, I saw some of the negation skills. Just like I saw her after your father’s visit. She moved cities and jobs to be away from you. You had your shot, but you f****d it up. Now do yourself and her a favour and move on. " Jack said.  Something snapped in Matt as he saw his dream slip through his hands like grains of sand. How would he win Lisa back if she did not know where she was? "No! I wouldn’t give her up, I wouldn’t let her go! " Matt said as he swept everything on Jack’s desk before flipping it over. Matt pinned Jack to the wall by his neck and said, "I will ask you one last time!" "Sorry, I will have to deny your request for information!" Jack said before Matt punched him in the face. "Wrong answer!" Matt growled as he punched Jack again. "Did that jog your memory?" "Sorry, can’t say it did. After all, you have the punch of a p***y. You forget, I'm used to the Siren’s and Handmaiden’s punches! " Jack said with a bloody smile. "I am just getting started!" Matt roared as he was about to throw another punch when he heard a knife wiz by his ear and land on the wall next to him. "Lay one more hand on my Jack and I will skewer you like at the BBQ meat you guys love. Do you know how long it has taken me to train him? " A woman growled. "Ahh Holly darling, can I introduce you to?" "I know who he is and I suggest you leave before they get here," Holly warned. "Too late!" Alannah growled as she walked by Holly.  "This does not concern you, Alannah," Matt snapped. "Of course it does. Do not drop him before I make you. " Alannah said as she got her trusty fighting fan out.
