A PLACE WORTH LIVING

CHAPTER SIX Geez! Does he have powerful ears? Why can he hear us when he's too far away? Well, anyway, how and why would there be cannibals living in this place? It's not that we're living in an uncivilized place! Tsk! I can't help but roll my eyes inwardly. His lies rendered me speechless. I flipped my hair while giving Troy a 'don't bother to tell me a lie' look. Geez! I am not a fool to believe his nonsense. I want to explore this place, so I must roam around this place. I gave my mom and dad a light hug before I left. I look at Troy and roll my eyes at him. Moving forward, I have been walking alone and just taking my time indulging in the fresh air of this beautiful town. This place is so familiar. It felt like I had seen this place before. 'Was it in my dream?' I thought. After a while, my feet brought me to a random place. Suddenly, I gasped in awe. Wow! This place is so enchanting. "It's beautiful!" I said. I couldn't help but feel butterflies in my stomach. I thought that I would only feel this sensation when I am with the man I like but never did I expect that seeing this enchanting place would make me giggle. I could see colorful things everywhere. And it's just too enchanting. Anywhere I looked, I could see various tall and big trees, well-maintained and not-so-small pine trees, grasses, bushes, and different wildflowers. The ground is all green because of the Bermuda grass, it is well-maintained as well. The bees, butterflies, and birds were all enjoying the scenery too. It looks and feels like I am in paradise. My eyes were so delighted and thankful that I was able to witness the gift of nature. 'Wow! No wonder why people who live here don't want to leave this place,' I thought. As I walked more steps, my feet brought me to where their big vegetable garden was located. It was on the left side of Troy's mansion. It has different leafy vegetables on it. 'No wonder why Troy does have such a great body,' I thought. When I was about to pick some tomatoes, a girl, who might be the same age as me and who was wearing baggy clothes, went in my direction. I was a little bit ashamed. 'Oh shoot! She may undoubtedly think of me as a thief?' I moved forward heading to her as well. I clasped my hands in embarrassment. "Hi, I am so sorry. I didn't mean to pick some tomatoes without your consent. I do apologize," I sincerely said but the girl only smiled at me. "Greetings to you. My name is Dione, one of Alpha Troy's pack members. It's an honor to meet you," A teenage girl bowed her head to show respect. "Oh?" I was taken aback by her old-fashioned way of greeting people. Why is she bowing her head? 'Should I bow my head as well?' 'Maybe?' "Nice to meet you too," I said before blowing my head too. I've been bowing my head for a while now waiting for the girl to stand straight first but when I took a peek at her, she still kept her head down. Geez! My neck and lower back were starting to feel achy. I should exercise more. Tss! I can no longer take it. I stood straight and tapped the girl's shoulder lightly hoping that she got the cue. But to my surprise, she only lifted her head and looked at me. "Why are you still bowing? You can stand straight now. It will make your neck and lower back achy," I said while holding her shoulders, making her stand straight. I extend my right arm forward but her face is showing a big question mark. I slowly grab her hand and shake it. "This is how we greet people in our place," I said while smiling at her. "See? It's not tiring at all," I said. The girl then showed me her warmest smile. "Warmest greetings, miss. Are you our Luna?" She asked as we withdrew our hands from handshaking. "Luna?" What are these unfamiliar words she's saying? First, Alpha. Now, Luna?! Who's that or should I say, what's that? Shoot! I should have read my dictionary before coming here. I couldn't help but blink my eyes in confusion before giving her an awkward smile in response. "Oh… no, I am not. I am not Luna, my name is Cassandra, " I answered. "That is not what I meant. The handsome man who accompanied you and your parents is our Alpha. He is the most respected Alpha among all packs. From what I have heard, your parents were regarded as the most trusted allies in the European Council and Alpha Troy is hoping to have your support," I know that as of this moment, my face couldn't hide the confusion I had been feeling. 'What the fudge is this girl saying? It's hard to comprehend,' "Oh, is that so?" I awkwardly asked. "Yes, miss," the girl replied. All the information I heard from this girl was circling in my mind but I still wasn't able to understand a bit of it. "Won't you mind me asking in which pack do you belong?" I was about to open my mouth but an old lady called Dione. I sighed. 'Thank goodness, I am saved,' I thought. "You still have things to do here. Stop chit-chatting during work hours. And don't forget to bring these blankets to their rooms," The girl looked at the woman shouting from afar then looked at me. "I'll be off for now, miss. And it's indeed my pleasure speaking with you today," Dione bowed at me before leaving. I absentmindedly stared at the girl's back as I tried racking my brain to look for an answer to her question. 'Pack?' I thought. Maybe my pack is named Back. 'Backpack' I laughed inwardly. I couldn't help but still giggle from my joke. I squeezed my cheeks because it wouldn't stop laughing. Shoot! 'Will Dione laugh at my joke if she heard it?' I thought. I walked aimlessly again. "Luna," I murmured. "It sounds good and powerful," I said. I continued my stroll and on my way, I suddenly saw another vegetable garden, and this time, I successfully picked some of the big ripe tomatoes and ate them. Troy is indeed so lucky to have a variety of fresh fruits and veggies. Tss. No wonder he's handsome and has an amazing "worth drooling" body. I am savoring my moment of eating the "fresh from the garden" tomatoes when suddenly a cute little girl bumps into my legs and asks this mind-cracking question. "Hi! Are you our Alpha Troy's mate?" I wasn't prepared for that one. And because I was surprised by the little girl's abrupt appearance, I accidentally choked from eating my tomatoes. I coughed hard but was able to feel safe after. Hoo! That was close. 'What is wrong with this place? Why do people keep appearing out of nowhere?' I look at the little girl. 'Oh, she's adorable,' I thought. I have the urge to pinch her cheeks. "Are you okay?" The little girl asks. Her eyes were full of warmth and concern. I nodded. "Yes, I am fine," "I am sorry if I startled you. I didn't mean it. I am just happy to see you. You are so beautiful," she said. I smiled at the little girl and squatted down to her level. I tucked the strand of hair that was on her face to her ear. "You are beautiful too," I said. The girl beamed with delight. "I know and I can feel that you are our Alpha Troy's mate," she said while giggling. "Mate?" The kid nodded her head. I didn't know what to say. I know that we are destined to be married but does Troy love me and treat me as his mate? The answer is obvious. It's a big 'NO'. I could still see his death glares. Tss! I can feel the chills running down my spine when I think about it. "Clara! Come here," But before I could open my mouth the girl ran immediately towards the lady who called out her name. I heaved a sigh of relief because I had been saved again. It's already been the second time that I have been asked about something I find hard to answer. 'What a helpful coincidence,' I thought as I rubbed my nape. I stood slowly and looked back to see the kid. The kid is now with her mother who called her for an afternoon snack. 'What a lovely sight to see,' I smiled at them and so did they. They bowed their heads which I also did in return. But this time, it didn't take a long while. 'The people here are so nice and kind,' I thought. I waved my hands to say goodbye and they did likewise. I continued my stroll but this time I was really hoping not to meet anyone. I didn't know that this place was so big and wide. As I kept taking my steps, the thought of feeling loved and welcomed brought butterflies to my stomach. I tried not to giggle yet a wide smile pasted on my face. I seemed like a little girl who received a prize from my mom for doing something good. My heart feels good. In this place, I felt so welcome and it indeed made my heart feel warm. Moments later, I heard the sound of running water from not so far away. So, my feet could no longer hold their excitement as they immediately ran heading to where it was. I was about to reach the place, however, a handsome boy suddenly jumped in front of me coming from nowhere. Saying "I was startled" at this moment is indeed an understatement. Geez! I nearly had a heart attack! "Greetings to you, young miss," he said as he bowed his head. "Oh my, you look so pretty. By the way, my name is Gabriel. These are my friends, Elias, Shane, Alex, and Tim," the boy smiled at me. "We humbly ask for forgiveness, young miss, as we disturb your stroll. We didn't know you'd be coming this way," Tim said as they bowed. "No, it's fine. It was me who disturbed your time," I waved her hands shyly. The young man, together with his friends, went to me and offered me beautiful flowers. Were they all fascinated by my beauty? Shoot! I could feel my face getting warm. Is my face turning red? No! This can't be. Relax! I need to relax. I don't want them to think that I am so easy. Chill. Inhale. Exhale. "You are indeed so beautiful, young miss. It was our pleasure to have seen you in person," Elias said. I was taken aback by their compliment since I am not used to it. Well, I know that I am pretty but hearing it from this group of handsome boys indeed made my heart flutter. Shoot! I bet they are three years younger than me. What a shame. "Thank you. You too, you guys look so handsome and… you're kind," I replied. "Are your parents here with you?" Elias asked as he handed me flowers. "Yeah. Why?" "We would like to meet them. Our parents told us that they were part of the European Council," Shane replied. I was curious about why my parents were so highly respected and famous in this town. 'Were all those words from the teenage girl, true?' I could no longer help but wonder about my family's history. I now have the urge to dig for some information about what's the relationship between my family and the people living here. "Actually, they were our most valued and highly respected guests. They had lived in this place but soon after, they decided to leave the pack for some unknown reasons," Alex added. I wanted to hear more from the young man but the latter immediately cut off their conversation hanging. "They needed us," Shane said. "We need to go now. We still need to prepare something," he added. "It was nice meeting you," Gabriel said as he bowed again. "Bye for now," They said while picking their hunts. I was taken aback by what I saw. 'Oh, dear. Poor souls,' I thought. Seeing the dead rabbits and dead wild boars being carried away by those young men panged my heart.
