Chapter 28: Class

1473 Words
Trevor put on a defensive posture knowing that the move Jastrick was about to perform wasn't as simple as it looked. Jastrick rose with the long staff that just materialized out of the two short magic sticks. He leaped into the air while spinning the staff over his head making the air around him vibrate loudly. Just as he was a few meters near Trevor, he span the staff around making a clean arc as it aimed for Trevor. Trevor, noticing the stick aimed for him, held his stick in front of him to block off the attack. But in just a blink of an eye, the stick he wielded snapped like it were a twig. And by the time he realized, he was pushed back quite a distance landing heavily on the ground. He tried to stabilize himself as he stood up but just then a powerful sting filled his body. It was like the first ones he had but this one was 5 folds greater. He fell back on his knees unable to bear the pain as a mouthful of blood escaped his mouth. Jastrick didn't stop there, he walked to Trevor with a sinister smile plastered on his face making him look like a serial assassin. But just then, a group of four blocked his path. He wasn't pleased by the sudden appearance. Moreover, they were the people he hated most, the dirty new students bought by the school. "State your business." he growled at the bastards, "Can't you see I am busy teaching that little brat a lesson. Unless of cause you want to join him." With this commotion going on m, no one would miss it. A crowd had formed around the fight only giving Trevor pitiful glances. "What did he do to anger Jastrick this much?" "Poor thing. He's only new to this place. How would he have known never to mess with Jastrick." "Poor thing! Scoff! He deserves it. Now he will know that he shouldn't mix with us." Many students expressed their concerns and pity. Even though they hated the new entrants, they couldn't help but feel sympathy. But most of them were mocking the weakling. This situation had long since attracted the teachers and instructors. But they idly stood by watching the ongoing fight. With some trying to make a rough estimation of the two's strengths and capabilities. "No. Don't hurt him. We won't let you." Page said in a panic. "Did I ask?" Jastrick sneered at the group of four in front of him, "Well then, seems ill just have to teach you all a lesson." he said tilting his head to one side and a smirk on his face. And with that, he raised his staff and drew an arc in the air causing it to vibrate as it swang to its target. But then, a hand blocked its path. And the face of their great headmaster Dira came into view. "Everyone. Go and continue your classes now. Or else you will be punished for late entry to class." he said emitting a cold aura in his voice. Jastrick wasn't happy with this but what could he do, he knew all too well the wrath of the 200-year-old man in front of him. And with just that single command, everyone dispersed, even Jastrick himself. But he could only swear inwardly that he would finish off those bratty students later. The wizard Dira turned to Page and the others and said, "Go attend your classes right now." And with that, they left Trevor after helping him get up. The wizard walked to Trevor and chanted a short line then stretched his hand and roughed Trevor. "That should be it. Go back to class," he said. The spell he cast on Trevor was a painkiller spell. Although it couldn't heal his wounds, it helped him feel some relief but for only a certain amount of time. Trevor delayed no longer and made his way to the class he was supposed to be at. The illusions class. Trevor entered a full class. Being the last student to enter class, he gained the stares of those already in class although the teacher hadn't yet arrived. He took his seat but just then, a fairly young man fazed in and out of the surrounding before completely appearing. "Sorry I kept you waiting," he said flashing a captivating smile at the students. He placed the thick book he had on the desk. Although he put it down slowly, it still dispersed a noticeable amount of dust. "Come and get your illusion books from me if you don't have one." The students started descending from their seats to the class stage and picked the books before going back to their respective seats. "Good, good. Now open your books to page 1," he said after the last student collected his book. "Does anyone here know any basic illusion animation?" No answer. "Don't be afraid." Still no answer. "Alright, if anyone here does know any basic illusion and dares to come to show us how it's done. A reward will be waiting for you." Finally, the word reward did the trick. With one skinny tall boy raising his hand. "Yes. You... Would you care to explain?" The boy walked to the desk and aided himself with the instructor's book. He skipped some pages before landing on an image. Asardo was pretty impressed when he saw the boy skip the basics and heading straight to the action. The boy hovered his hand over the page and in 2 seconds, gold particles started raising from the picture slowly gathering beneath his hand. Bit by bit they formed a part of an object until finally, a gold particle butterfly came to view. "Impressive!" Asardo couldn't help his excitement as he stared at the flapping image before him. He wasn't the only one. The students' students above couldn't help but exclaim. Clap clap clap clap "These dungeons are so worth it." Trevor thought to himself. "Good work. Boy." Asardo said patting the boy's shoulder three times very pleased with him. "What's your name?" "I'm Uylar," he said retracting his hand proudly. "Good, good Uylar. And as promised here's your reward. Everyone in the lecture room gasped in shock when they witnessed what the instructor had pulled out of his desk. A mana cultivation stone! "Am I seeing things!" "That guy's so lucky." "I know right. I wish I had learned illusions before. Those manna stones are so precious. I heard that they can help make the manner in your tasarbar pure and dense. I need to get one." Shock filled the classroom. A mama cultivation stone was what they, as young mages could wish for. That was a must-have if one wanted to become powerful fast. Uyler's eyes widened as he slowly extended both his hands to hold the precious item. " That's right. Keep it up. You have a great future young Uyler." "You can now go back to your seat." Uyler earned jealous stares as he went back to his seat. Excitement bubbles up in his heart. "The key to illusion is concentration...." Asador continued, "Now I want you to imagine something simple...." Everyone's enthusiasm grew. They all paid attention when Asador spoke. They felt that if they missed out on a single word, they would have missed a lot. Asador let out a small chuckle when he saw how his class behaved;" That's more like it. " " Now I want you to read the instructions on page number one on the best possible ways you can concentrate. I'm giving you 20 minutes to learn your favorite concentration technique. Then we can go on to the next lesson." Mr. Asador took his seat as he stared at his class then turned the sand clock beginning the countdown. He took a bite on the apple he had with each passing second cherishing the taste. Time ticked by slowly. With everyone trying their best. Who knows maybe they could get to be the ones to impress Mr. Asador next time. Asador looked at the last grain of sand hit the bottom before announcing, "Times up." He stood up from his seat and walked to the front of the desk with the book in his hand. "I believe you're done. Let's go on to the next part." "Now the key here is to meditate upon the desired object as you channel the mana in your tasabar bar through your hands." and with that, golden particles rose from his hands as they formed a similar butterfly but it didn't stop there. I went as far as becoming more vivid. And the final result, a clear beautiful purple butterfly. " Okay, you all try that later. My lesson here is done." Asador said before turning to leave.
