Chapter 56: Skills Tab

Even Uyler, who was previously smug at first could not help but curse out! The professor was shocked for a brief second. "You must have a high concentration at your and good mana control at your age, I'm impressed!" The bell went, signaling the lesson had ended and it was time for the next lesson. Asardo simply disappeared from his spot while the rest of the student rose from their desks and made their way out; all their gazes fixed on Trevor. He couldn't take it anymore standing there and decided to leave as fast as possible. Suddenly, a hand reached out to him and rested on his shoulders. Upon turning, he discovered that it was Uyler, the other star student. "Oh no, I hope he isn't jealous and out to get me!" Trevor thought, forcing a smile to his face. "Uyler, how may I help you?" he said. "What you did there, that was amazing!" Although it sounded like a compliment, the gloomy expression Uyler had on made it rather impossible to believe so. After saying those words, Uyler strode away quickly with clenched fists. "Okay.....that was weird," Trevor thought, his eyes still on Uyler. * Later that evening, it was training as usual. Everyone did the usual warm ups then proceeded for their combat lessons. After the combat lessons had commenced, everyone was excited. The paid students who had enrolled out of the programmed felt a little regret but they still did not want to risk their lives for a stupid tournament. At first, they would have probably worked hard for the tournament but that was because it was the only choice they had. But now that they had the freedom to train if they wanted, they chose not to. To most of them, magic was the key role in their lives. Magic combat was already part of the curriculum so why would they need physical training. Some students struggled to pay the fees for the normal curriculum so the extra combat training was already out of their budget. While those students from powerful backgrounds already had a footing in physical combat, so they found the new training in school pointless. Still, there were those who wanted to do it just because of the fun or to simply outgrow some specific people they had feuds with. Currently, Daksh and his two students were in the training ground allocated to sword training and there were a total of 6 sword teachers. The one with the least students being Daksh who only had two. "Logan your movement is a little stiff......" Daksh said pointing out the shorter boy's mistakes. They had been practicing this in the morning but Logan hadn't gotten the hung of it yet. Normally, any teacher would be frustrated after repeatedly teaching the same thing. But Daksh maintained his calm attitude and smile. Logan glanced at Trevor on the side, who was doing the flash step ever so easily and was still going on. Envy and frustration registered in his gaze when he saw how easily he performed the flash step although it was far inferior compared to Daksh's. Daksh noticed the gaze in Logan's eyes and his expression turned serious. "Never envy anyone!" he said in a low growl causing Logan to lower his head in humiliation. "You should instead use look at what they are doing different to better yourself." "Yes sir!" Logan replied. "UNDERSTOOD!? " Daksh yelled: startling Logan and Trevor who was quite a distance away. "Yes sir!!" Logan yelled back his response. Although Trevor did not know the reason for Daksh's yell, the actions of the duo reminded him a lot of the military back in real life. "Good!" Daksh smiled once again, returning to his calm demeanor. He walked to the side and crossed his arms over his chest and said nothing else. Logan understood his gesture and looked at Trevor to learn how he was doing his flash step. Trevor was already sweating profusely after attempting the flash step 6 times already. Om the seventh try, he performed the footwork quite slowly and covered a shorter distance at a slower rate. Now that the skill was showcases slowly, one could see that the boy was moving backwards with his feet slightly hovering above the ground like he was being pushed backwards. [Stamina used up] Ephraim's monotone voice spoke which Trevor guessed was the system's AI voice that activated by default when the panel wasn't open. Just like it said, Trevor was so exhausted that he fell to his knees. Daksh had told them about the toll the flahs step would take on someone's stamina. After Trevor had fallen to his knees, Logan started his flash step while recalling every action Trevor did previously. A strange determination arising in himself. To Daksh, Logan was still doing the same actions with the same mistake. Just when he was about to point it out again, he stepped back with a wider smile. Logan was getting tired by the looks of things. His movement becoming more fluent as he got tired. His body was slowly getting tired to keep his movements stiff. Finally, Logan performed the flash step just like the one Trevor performed last before he feel to his knees. "Maybe that's how young Trevor learnt it,"Daksh thought, completely pleased. Logan too was exhilarated by the success of his method. "Good.... You both have learnt that. All you have to do now is keep on practicing until you perfect it to my level, I will let you rest now. " The flash step involved set of movement where one would step back then in front in quick succession with their feet following a specific pattern. The person would feel a force pull him back. Kinda like the law of inertia. Daksh had accidentally, discovered this when he was faced with a number of arrows aimed at him. In an attempt to dodge one aimed at his side, he stepped back but immediately he discovered that there was another aimed at him so he stepped in front in quick succession. The result, the flash step which fortunately happened after the second arrow had passed. Otherwise, he would have gotten shot. Though there was still almost 1 hour and a half left for the training to conclude, Daksh found it pointless to teach tired students so he concluded the lesson for the day. "You must have gotten on Daksh's bad side this time huh?" Trevor offered his hand to Logan who was still on his knees. The latter slapped his hand away in response, "I can manage, thank you" then got up by himself and left Trevor all by himself. "Woa....looks like you got your self a rival there fighting the teachers favor," Ephraim remarked sarcastically. "Shut up please!" Trevor shrugged his shoulders after that and went in his own direction too. [New skill discovered to have been learnt!] The message intruiged Trevor so he opened up the system panel. He had already finished taking a bath and had changed into a new set of clothes as he waited in his room for the rest to finish their training so he could head for supper with them. The panel light shone brightly on his face displaying its beautiful layout. [Skills learnt] a new tab had opened up right next to the hack tab so he switched the display to it. There were a total of 3 moves displayed. [Soi-ryu: single sword technique taught by Master Soimacho.
