He didn’t reply for a few seconds before a sigh later, and he nodded, letting his hand fall into mine as he led the way outside towards the staircase. Out of all the possible reactions, that was not one I saw coming at all. I thought maybe a little uncertainty or perhaps a bit of begging would be needed but no . . . He happily and willingly just started leading me up the stairs. “Trust. It’s a two-way street.” He added into the dimly lit staircase as if sensing my thoughts. “Thanks,” I mumbled, my fingers tightening a little more against his. I won’t f**k it up this time. The walk up to the attic and the cold stone steps felt a lot faster this time, and I guess, a little less scary. I could still feel my body ache from who was inside there, the injuries still hadn’t completely healed,
