The monitors flicker in the dimly lit study as I pour over surveillance footage from the company building, searching for any trace of Valerio or his henchmen. My men have already gone through it but since there was still no word from Alexandra, I had to do something. That bastard has managed to stay hidden for weeks, but everyone leaves a trail. It's just a matter of finding it. My eyes burn from staring at screens for hours, but I can't stop. Not when I remember what he did to her. What he made his men do to her all because he wanted me. The bruises, the cuts, the haunted look in her eyes when we found her, how she collapsed…
A soft knock interrupts my dark thoughts and I sigh, calming my nerves.
