Chapter 9: The Revelation A child ran across the sidewalk, a soccer ball bouncing around his feet as his parents chased after him. “Darren!” they called, but the kid just laughed. Jess smiled as she watched, taking in the scene. Cars drove by slowly, as they were forced to this close to the city centre, and there was the unmistakable smell of coffee and spices from the market stalls just down the street. They were opening up for the weekly market, much to Jess’s delight—she loved the amalgamation of different goods and cuisines that became available on market day. A scattering of pigeons gathered around the base of a nearby lamppost, chirping away, and most of the pedestrians who passed by the coffee shop were slower than usual, the midday sun making for a more relaxed atmosphere.
