Jade POV It wasn't until I turned around and saw Prince Alaric had pushed me off Angelica that I realized who had done it. He looked me in the eyes with sinister intent. "what the hell are you doing!" He yelled at me. "she attacked me, and although I tried very hard to fight back, I could not do so and..." "lies!" he shouted at me. "Nothing that you are saying even remotely resembles the truth. "How dare you lie against me!" I yelled. Prince Alaric glared at me and lunged toward me, but Prince Raymond, who was standing in front of me, was able to stop him. "Enough with this already!" Raymond yelled at him. Nicholas did what he did every time; he stood there and watched as if what was going on was of no concern to him. I wanted him to feel at least one problem toward me, but he didn't, and he treated me as if I didn't mean anything to him. I was disappointed by his lack of reaction. As I begin to cry, I scratch the inside of my lower lip. "Why in the hell are you standing by her side? She is a betrayal that must be punished, and she is guilty! " I was the target of Alaric's accusation. ''I am going to ruin you, and when that time comes, I will make sure you cry and watch you die a pathetic death,'' he spat angrily as he carried Angelica up off the ground. ''I am going to ruin you,'' He yelled out to the guards who had followed him up to the front door, "Guards! Take her with you!" he gave his orders. "what the hell are you doing?" Raymond yelled and spread his arms wide in front of me to act as a shield against the guards. As they came closer to me, he growled at them to keep them away from me and made sure that they did not reach my side as they came closer to me. "because you don't know the real story of what happened here, I strongly suggest that you avoid her at all costs!" How he defended me demonstrated his concern, and I was angry at myself for having doubted him; his tone was sincere, which caused me to wonder why he was acting oddly friendly toward me. "Since I am the crown prince and next in line of the throne and your older brother, I must hand down the rules then. Raymond, I ask that you kindly step back unless you want to participate in her schemes and disrespect the Hierarchy! Prince Raymond clenched his fists and moved away from me as he showed disapproval. He faced me and mumbled an apology before turning away. I was aware of everything there was to know about the hierarchy, and I knew that because the royal family placed such a high value on it, they wouldn't want to break with it. The guards grabbed my hand, and he yanked me up off the ground angrily. As my eyes became blurry from the tears, I pulled my head down. Again, Angelica's scheme was successful, and I was made to feel like I didn't matter at all. I began to wonder, as I was being dragged toward the room entrance, whether or not what I was going through was a result of my attitude or my level of stupidity. I was at a loss to explain why I needed to act like this continuously. I could not defend myself or fight Angelica, and no one tried to assist me other than Raymond, who was unsuccessful in his efforts. I could not win. "stop!" The guards were forced to back away from me as the voice bellowed at them. I slowly turned my head to face him. "Are you okay?" he asked. Nicholas was assisting me in the matter. When and why did he come to this conclusion? When our eyes met, he gave me a reassuring nod, telling me everything would be all right. "What the hell are you doing!" Alaric, who had begun to walk away from us while holding Angelica in his arms, yelled at Nicholas and then turned around to face us. "I just gave you an order, and you are required to carry it out!" "she is pregnant with my child!" Nicholas said as he kept his hand on mine the entire time. "I will look into this matter on my own!" "I am the prince of the crown!" It was Alaric who yelled. "And I will make sure that my pup is safe!" Nicholas refuted, but I noticed how he avoided talking about me in his response. It was his child that he wished to shield at all costs. At least he supported me when I needed it. I really ought to express gratitude for that. "Have you forgotten that there is a hierarchy!" Alaric reminded him. In the back of my mind, I kept wishing Nicholas wouldn't be like Raymond and change his mind. "I believe you have forgotten that she is carrying my child," Nicholas retorted. "You mean to say that the child who is going to be born out of wedlock as a result of a s****l encounter lasting just one night?" Laughter came from Alaric. "pathetic!" When Angelica started to moan in his arms, he turned his attention to her. He inquired, "Are you feeling okay?" "Why don't you attend to your bleeding bride while I report this to father myself!" Nicholas drew me closer to him. "As long as she is carrying my child, she is under my protection, and you have no understanding of how the hierarchy system works!" Nicholas turned and walked away, dragging him behind as he abandoned Alaric and Angelica. Okay, I must admit that it was terrific to see Nicholas standing up for me. I turned my head to face him and flashed him a grin as I did so. Even though he didn't smile back at me, I could feel everything worked out perfectly. At least he supported me when I needed it.
