Jade POV
It felt like someone had set fire to my back, and I was bleeding from the mouth. I was able to hobble with the assistance of isha as she helped me lay down on the bed. I had been beaten ruthlessly by Lady Hattie after the snacks incident.
"Do you think everything is going to be okay?" Isha asked as she let go of my hand and sat down in front of me because her bed was closer to mine in the room that we shared than mine was to hers. She got to her feet and said, "I am going to try to get a first aid box to assist you in getting better."
I wanted to stop her because I was sure that nothing would make me feel better, but she had already started to leave the room when I saw her.
"isha," I managed to utter in a hushed tone, and before I knew what was going on, I was crying. My eyes were filling up with tears, and there was no way I could conceal how I felt. No matter how hard I tried to suppress my sobs, they became louder, and my hands began to tremble. To prevent anyone from hearing what I was saying, I quickly covered my mouth with my hands.
After Lady Hattie had punished me, I became convinced that I would pass away. According to her, I had embarrassed her in front of the Royals, and as a result, I deserved to have a powerful whip applied to my back. It didn't matter to her whether I was pregnant or not.
It was tragic that none of them cared about me, and all they wanted was for me to pass away; I had hoped that at least one person would support me in this struggle. Even after Raymond came around and took my side, I should have been happy, but I wasn't.
It was unfortunate that Nicholas did not take my side because he did not believe me and left with Angelica, who was the cause of my suffering. I wanted Nicholas to take my side, but he did not.
"why me!" I ruffled my hair and wiped away the tears streaming down my face. The tears wouldn't stop.
The anguish in my chest was so intense that I began to fear I might pass away. The game that Fate was playing with me was making me despise my existence. When it came down to it, I was a nobody.
Because I would do anything to make sure I had enough money, I ended up in a situation where I couldn't be reunited with my family, and that was the beginning of the end for me. "I don't understand why you're doing this to yourself, Jade." I bit my lower lip until there was blood coming out of it. I sniffled and muttered, "I am such a fool."
I hastily wiped the tears off my face in response to Isha's announcement that she had returned. "Have you been crying?" She asked me while dropping the first aid kit on the bed next to me and asking,
"I....." I was at a loss for words and could only shake my head because I knew that if I tried to say anything, tears would immediately start streaming down my face.
Isha let out a long sigh before pulling up the collar of my shirt. When she saw my back, she let out a shocked gasp. "I couldn't help but wonder why she would treat you in such a disrespectful manner given that she is aware that you are expecting!" Isha voiced her displeasure with the situation, but there was nothing she could do about it seeing as how we were both maids and held no authority over anything.
She suggested that we convey this information to the Queen, but my response was to shake my head.
"no," I declined to comply. It would only bring me more suffering to tell the Queen because the Queen detested me and fervently hoped I would perish. I was anxious to leave the Royal residence as quickly as possible because I didn't want to worsen the situation. If Only I could take my child with me, I would jump at the chance in a heartbeat.
"You ought to be feeling better by this point. Why is it taking time ?" isha referred to my wounds.
"Are you done?" Isha received a curt question from me because I didn't want her to discover any of my deepest, darkest secrets. I tossed my clothes on the floor and flung myself onto the bed, turning over to face Isha's potential questions from the opposite side. "I need to rest."
"I understand you better than you think," She finished her sentence by saying, after picking up the first aid kit from my bed and closing it.
"Believe what I say when I own a unique breed of wolf. I don't use healing either because I don't have a wolf yet, which is another reason. "Before she left the room, she said something to me and covered me with the blanket. After she had gone, I started crying all over again.
I could feel the pain in my forehead and the weight in my eyes, but I couldn't stop crying. I rubbed my stomach as I rubbed my hands together and told myself, "Everything is going to be fine." Even though I was upset, I forced myself to smile and promise to protect my child by saying I would defend him. "I will guard you."
I was startled when my child suddenly kicked against my hand, and I let out a loud laugh because I thought he had heard me and was reacting to my touch.
Even my infant was aware of how miserable I was feeling. I muttered to myself that I had to escape this toxic environment. I had no idea what I was going to do or the steps that I would take, but I knew that I had to get out of there before it was too late for my life. Up until the very end, no one cared about me at all.
No one.
