Jade POV The day for the ball finally arrived and while getting prepared for it, I received a letter from an unknown source. I am coming. The letter was thrown into my room and when I read it, it came from Angelica who announced her arrival. Before I knew what was happening, she had arrived at my room. "I told you that I am coming and you should prepare for me. you thought that I was bluffing right." I was shocked when Angelica appeared in my room and stood in front of me. I had no idea how she was able to enter my room but I figured out that She was able to gain access to my room. it would be easy for her since she was wearing the same dress as me. A royal purple dress it was specially picked by Donna, Angelica's maid. it was a purple tulle ballroom gown. A floor-length silhouette, off-shoulder wide strap. I thought it was a special dress until I saw Angelica wearing it too. "when I sent those messages to you, I thought that you would be smart enough to understand that I am not requesting but ordering you instead." "How could you break your promise and walk in here!" I yelled at her. "you are going to risk our lives!" "our lives?" she chuckled. Angelica pointed a finger at me and shook her head in response to me. "I am not going to lose my life but I can't say the same thing about you!" she circled me lifting her dress and laughing like a maniac. she yanked the diamond necklace from my neck and held it in her hand like a prize. The Queen had given it to me as a reward for planning the Royal ball with Nicholas and Raymond. planning the event wasn't easy for me because Raymond made life unbearable for me but at the end of it all, we had all come together after planning a royal party that I expected to be successful. "you are becoming unbearable! why the hell would you snatch that necklace away from my neck!" I shouted at her. "Because it is mine!" she retorted. "Everything here belongs to me and someone like you is enjoying that privilege because I gave it to you so you should be grateful to me!" she pushed me forward and I almost fell to the ground but I held my balance and tried hard not to fall. Heaving a deep sigh, I chuckled and rubbed my forehead then I watch as she continued talking about herself. "I gave you a life where you would be treated as a royal but in return, you decided to make it yours. how dare you deny me of coming to this royal ball huh?" she asked and wore the diamond around her neck. she walked close to the mirror and stared at herself. "I look amazing." "Why did you return when you know that you will start going back to being yourself and I would continue to be you?" I demanded clenching my fists as I felt the urge to punch her in the face. "if you are going to risk my life then do it where they won't see you. if they see both of us then we are done for!" "you are done for!" she pointed towards me. "I am a noble werewolf and I could easily tell everyone that you stole my identity as yours and decided to impersonate me to get closer to the royal family." "What?" I stared at her in shock wondering how she could be as evil as that. How could she even think of such a thing? she was the one who came up with the idea and now, she was going to turn it on my head. "how could you think about that?" I asked her. "All of this was your idea so why would you put it on my head!" Angelica laughed. "haven't you heard about the phrase where they say that a poor person doesn't win?" she said and folded her arms. "you are a nobody and you could be easily killed but I am a noble wolf who has a duty in the society," she said and continued staring at the mirror. "just stay calm tonight while I see prince Nicholas. He is the only reason I am here," she said. "Prince Nicholas?" There was a hint of jealousy In my tone as I stared at her. I envied her for living a great life where she is being worshiped with money while I get to work hard and live as a different person entirely To put food on my table. she was being loved by someone amazing as prince Nicholas and I get to be only a substitute. A substitute who could disappear soon. what a cruel fate. my life was an exhausting one while Angelica had to live as a princess because she was privileged to be the daughter of an alpha. I guess everyone was right when they said that life had its ups and down, especially for the poor. "Prince Alaric just being around for a while right?" she asked too but I gave no response to her question as I ignored her as if she wasn't there. "The royal ball would be amazing so causing a scandal would be amazing right?" she asked and walked towards me. "cat got your tongue huh!" she pushed me on the shoulder. "you are starting to piss me off!" "pissed you off?" I chuckled and rolled my eyes. "Ever since you sneaked your way in here, you've been acting as if you are not at fault. how could you come here when you know that you will be risking my life!" I voiced out how I felt at that moment. Although my voice was a little shaky, I was grateful that I was still able to say what I had on my mind at that moment. "you are the one acting as if you had the whole world in your palm. The princes and I planned this together and I should be there but you coming here now has ruined everything," I felt tears welling up in my eyes but I blinked them away and heaved a deep sigh. "if you want me to do my job then I don't want you interfering in the things that I am doing!" "I don't care peasant!' she shouted and turned to leave. " if you know what is good for you then you keep Your mouth shut. " "where are you going?" I asked her. "To the ball silly." "you can't leave like that because I should be the one there!" I yelled at her. "shut up," she shouted back at me. "I am the owner of my body and I should be able to use it anytime I want to," she grinned at me and walked out of the room. I rushed after her but the room was slammed in my face. I heard voice whisperings and the clicking of the key against the door sounded in my ear. someone was trying to keep me away and no one needed to tell me that Angelica had left for the royal ball instead. why does life have to be so cruel?
