Jade POV
I heaved a sigh as I sat down to remove my makeup. it's been a long day as I was busy training as a potential Luna. Throughout the training, I was either running to the bathroom every few seconds or complaining about my back. I hated how I was feeling and it's not that I hate my unborn child, it was because of how I had to deal with it alone. Alaric who was supposed to be by my side was barely around and just like Nicholas had said a few days ago, he was probably whoring around like he normally does.
"have mercy on me, goddess," I whispered as I wiped the makeup on my face. "I can't believe that I have to do this alone," I sniffled as I wiped my face clean with a wiper slowly removing the makeup that made me look like Angelica away. when I was close to wiping and removing the facial mask I had on, my door burst open and I heard Nicholas's voice sound behind me.
"Angelica!" He shouted and moved towards me. I could hear his footsteps as he headed toward me and stopped when he was behind me.
"what the hell are you doing here!" I shouted not turning back to face him. if I tried to turn back then it means that I was done for and my secret would be revealed. "you shouldn't be in my room!" I yelled at him. "I have told you several times that coming to my room is not going to change my mind!"
Nicholas didn't say a word but instead, I felt his cold hands on my shoulders. They were so cold that it made me shiver. "I don't know how to explain this to you but something is driving me towards you and I can't seem to stop wanting to be around you," he stated and placed his other hand on my shoulder.
The baby was probably pulling him closer to me and sooner or later, he'll understand that it was the baby pulling him and not me. when he realized that I wasn't Angelica, he might not even accept the child because he was deeply in love with Angelica and there was nothing that I could do about it. " look at me," Nicholas tried to turn me to face him but I slapped his hand away.
"Please just go, " I begged him. "you shouldn't be here because I don't want a problem, and I...."
"I can't believe you care now. in the past, you used not to care about what others said or do because you always prove them wrong. how did you go from such a person to this?"
I closed my eyes and heaved a sigh. "my secret was just about to be revealed and I had almost started acting like my usual self."
"leave!" I slapped his hand and pushed him backward. when he wasn't looking, I ran into the bathroom and locked myself up.
"Hiding away from me isn't going to solve anything Angelica!" He shouted at me. "you can't chase me away forever because I will always be around you and....."I couldn't hear his voice any longer and thought that he had left but I heard him let out an exasperated breath. " I shouldn't be acting like this. I'll find out why I am longing to be around you," He slammed his hand on the bathroom door causing my heart to jump in fear. "Take care Angelica," he whispered and I heard the sound of his footsteps on the ground as he headed out of the room. I placed a hand on my chest and stared at myself in the mirror. my reflection stared back at me and it wasn't Angelica anymore.
it was the real me. The golden locks girl had to pretend to be somebody else because of money. Now I was regretting it because I could never live my life the way that I wanted. "what have I done to myself?" I placed my hand on my chest and held my swollen breast. "should I have rejected her offer to impersonate her?" I questioned my reflection. "why did you come here?" I slammed my hand on the mirror.
"Greediness," I suddenly heard my reflection replied me. Now I was going crazy by everything around me. I rubbed my eyes hoping that I had not gone crazy. when I opened my eyes and stared at my reflection again, it didn't speak. when I blinked, it also blinked. "Thank goodness that I have not done crazy yet," I heaved a sigh and stretched my arms. "I haven't gone crazy," I repeated and yawned. "what do I do now?" I washed my face in the sink and continue staring at my face. I had become pale and I could notice that I had lost all color on my face. it was not hard to notice the dark bags under my eyes.
"I have dark bags now," I screamed and checked my eyes. "oh no!" I frowned. "I have dark eyes and this is pretty sad!" I said and rubbed my forehead. I was always concerned about my looks because as an impersonator, I had to look good to hire. If I looked like an old hag then no one would want to hire me. "I am now resembling a frustrated person!" I grabbed my hair and pulled it. "what do I do?" I questioned myself once more before walking out of the bathroom. I stood at the entrance of the bathroom and roamed my eyes around the room making sure that there was no one around me. I quickly rushed towards my door and locked it from behind. while walking back, I realized that the facial mask I wore was laying on my dressing table. it was in the exact way I left it meaning Nicholas either saw it or he pretended not to.
"oh goodness!" I gasped when I realized that my secret could be out.
