Chapter 2

Elijah's POV   I got up earlier than expected. It was already nine in the morning, but most of the pack stayed in the house were still sleeping or just staying in bed late.   I walked into the kitchen and saw my mom making coffee. I hugged her and gave her a peck on her cheek. "Morning mom."   "Good morning Elijah, would you like a cup of coffee?" She asked and smiled at me.   "I would love a cup of coffee." I said as I sat down on the opposite end of the kitchen counter.   My mother grinned and ruffled my hair before walking out. "Then make it yourself" she said out loud. I could hear the laughter in her voice and could not help but smile.   I got up and made my own coffee. I was going through a list of things I had to do for the day in my head when Caleb walked in. He looked angry and ready to kill someone.   "What’s wrong?" I asked him, secretly hoping that it was something minor that one of the pups did.   "Where is Eric?" He asked visibly relaxing. As my Beta he knew that getting angry and not being able to control his wolf was not good and I would have to find a new Beta.   "Still in his room, why?" I asked, curious as to why Caleb was angry at Eric.   "He brought home a rogue, her scent was coming from his car. From what I can tell she is in heat.”   I too got angry at Eric now; the only way for a female werewolf to be in heat is if she found her mate.   "That’s not all; it seems that Zane was with them. He knows the rules he should have stopped Eric from bringing home a rouge."   "Calm down Caleb, they got home late. The rouge could be Eric or Zane’s mate." I said and was confused as to why Caleb seemed so upset. And I doubt what I said was true, neither Zane nor Eric have found their mates yet.   "Let us go talk to Eric and Zane."   When we got to Zane's room, we found it empty and his bed was undisturbed. It was clear that Zane came back to the pack house last night, but he was not in his room.   Caleb and I went to Eric's room and when we reached his room door, my wolf started acting up. He was howling and going wild. One word kept on running through my mind, but I could not make it out. Until my wolf shouted loud and clear, Mate!   I opened the door quickly and the sight that greeted me made me want to rip my cousin and Zane apart. In between Zane and Eric was my mate. Her head was on Zane's chest and Eric had his arm over her waist. Her long black hair was covering her face.   I growled and Zane and Eric practically jumped. "GET. AWAY. FROM. MY. MATE!"   "Oh, s**t!" Zane and Eric said at the same time.   Zane and Eric quickly put on their pants and were heading towards the door to get out of the room.   "STAY!" I growled at them using the full force of my Alpha voice on them.   My mate got up and took the blanket to cover her. She was mumbling and I could hear her curse before she looked at me.   I walked up to her and pulled her to me, she whimpered when I kissed her, but pulled away from me and frowned. I was so happy that I found my mate that I did not care about Zane and Eric. Well, I did not care about that for the moment.   Later, I will make them pay.   "Get out." Those two words came from my mate; her sweet voice held so much power that it had Zane, Eric and Caleb get out of the room and close the door as fast as possible. I was shocked, though her words were not directed at me they held so much power that I could feel the change in the air that surrounded us. She looked me straight in my eyes and sighed before she spoke; "we need to talk."   "I do not want to talk; you are mine that is all I need to know.” I said and tried to kiss her again but she dodged me.   Her brown eyes were filled with tears and all I wanted to do was wipe them away. “I am so sorry but I cannot be your mate."   Her words stung, but it was not a rejection. There was still hope for me and my wolf.     Skye's POV   My wolf was angry at me for refusing to be with my mate. All I wanted to do was hold my mate and stay in his arms. I looked at him and felt my stomach do a flip.   "Will you give me a moment to get dressed?" I asked, scanning the room for my dress. When he didn't answer I looked at him and noticed that his hazel eyes were filled with confusion and hurt. "Can you maybe turn around for a minute?" I asked again and flinched when he let out a growl.   "You are my mate.” His voice made my knees weak, but I refused to let him see what he did to me. "I can see your beautiful body if I want to. You are mine now."   I knew then that his wolf was fighting with him to be in control and by the looks of it his wolf was winning the battle. I quickly put on my dress from the previous night under his unblinking gaze. I walked up to him and let him hold me. I wrapped my arms around his neck and let him take in my scent. His nose running up and down the side of my neck.   "We really need to talk now." I said and let go of him, putting space between us.   He simply nodded his head once and folded his arms.   "I know that we are mates and that we belong together.” I said hoping that I was starting off on the right note.   "Damn right.”   From the kiss we shared, I found out his name and saw the last woman he was with. I could feel my wolf snarling, ready to rip apart the woman that was with our mate. I blocked her out and took a deep breath before continuing with Elijah.   "Elijah, I am not normal. If I stay bad things will happen and I do not want to be responsible for it. “I felt like my throat was closing up and my eyes were filled with tears. “You are the Alpha here and you need to protect your pack. If I stay you’re pack will constantly be in danger. I am so sorry, but I cannot be your mate."   My eyes were so blurry that I did not see Elijah come closer to me. I felt his arms wrap around my waist and his body was shaking. I wanted us to stay in this position forever.   "Please just let me go, for the sake of your pack.” I said and turned around in his arms to face him.   "As your mate, I already love you. As a rogue, staying in a pack is not for me. I am a danger to your pack, I strongly suggest you let me and find a she-wolf worthy of being your Luna."   I kissed his cheek and focused on my apartment in town, before he could speak I teleported back to my apartment. I was in my living room and fell to the floor, already missing Elijah. I cried out loud and let my tears fall freely. My wolf was whimpering, but tried to comfort me.   I know I am not the only one losing a mate, by leaving Elijah. My wolf needed me to be strong as well. I owe it to her.   I closed my eyes and fell asleep on the floor from sheer exhaustion and hurt.
