There was a faint warm breath on my neck and a snarly voice spoke quickly from behind me. “Where are you going?!” It was a man’s voice. He grabbed my arm tighter and spun me around. As I turned, I got a quick glimpse of him. He was an older bald man with narrow sneaky eyes. His clothes were worn and tattered as if he had been living in them for a while.
“Let me go!” I exclaimed, pulling my arm away from him. I freed myself for a second only to be grabbed again but this time, harder. Just as this happened, I heard a low growl from the ally way next to us. The man continued to yank me closer to him, disregarding the noises coming from his right.
“Come on sweetheart, let’s have some-” before he could even spit one more word out, his grip was yanked off from me in a blur. I stumbled back, falling to the ground in the process terrified. As I looked upon my savior, my eye widened, and my breath caught in my throat. The bald man was laying, unconscious, underneath what looked to be a wolf. But this was not an ordinary looking wolf. It was much bigger, almost double to a typical animal.
I began to scoot backwards slowly, hoping to not catch the animal’s attention. As if I was that lucky. With one small movement from me, the wolfs head turned making eye contact with me and I froze. I froze out of not only fear but intrigue? I had never seen eye on a wolf as this one had. Bright blue, just the same blue as the guys from the store earlier today.
The wolf turned its body fully towards me and was starting to advance when I came back to reality. I needed to move, get out of here, something! I quickly jumped up to my feet and took off down the street towards my parent’s house. When walking it only takes me about 10 minutes to get back home so sprinting as I was now, I would be there in less than 5.
I didn’t have the guts to look back to see if the wolf was following me. I assumed I might have startled it away. I could help but revert my thoughts back to those eyes though. They were so similar to the man from earlier and I couldn’t shake that.
I could see my house in the distance, and I picked up speed. Darting up the steps and through the front door, I slammed the door shut before falling to the floor exhausted. The commotion alerted my parents who then came sprinting into the front room where they found me gasping for breath on the floor.
“Sophia, what in the world are you doing?!” My mother exclaimed running over to my side.
I spoke in between breaths trying to explain what just happened. “Man… Wolf… Attack…” I could only get three words, the three main words of the situation. My mother paused at my response and looked at my father oddly calm.
As if it were right on cue, there was a loud knock at the front door next to us. I paused looking over at my mother and then to my father. They both were looking at each other as if they knew what was about to happen.
My father walked over to the door and opened it to reveal two people standing at the front. One was a man who had tan skin, wavy black hair that fell to his shoulders and piercing green eyes. The second person was a woman with long blonde hair pulled to the side in a tight ponytail and deep brown eyes. She spoke first.
“It is time.” Was all she said.
I looked over at my father confused. “Time for what?” I asked looking back and forth between the two. They ignored me and continued.
“It has become too dangerous for her to stay here.” The man now spoke. I looked at him and then at my father once again. His eyes were tight and narrow as if he knew what was happening.
“Too dangerous for what? What the hell is going on!” I yelled finally. My mother grabbed my hand as I turned to look at her.
“Everything will be okay. Stay calm and go with them.” Upon hear the words “go with me” I flipped.
“What!? Go with the creepy people who randomly showed up at our front door? Have you lost your minds!?” I said jumping to my feet and backing away.
“Honey, please don’t make this more difficult.” My father said with a concerned look on his face.
“What are you talking about!?” I yelled again but at this time I noticed the man enter our house and start walking towards me. “Oh no you don’t!” I said putting my hand up to block him from coming closer to me.
“Kai, just use the Propofol.” I heard the women in the background call out to the man who was advancing towards me. Upon request, he pulled out a small syringe and my eyes widen. Before I could resist, he had grabbed my arm and he was holding me tight. I felt a small pinch in my arm. Looking down I could see the little syringe protruding from my left should.
The man’s grab softened and as I my eyes began to get heavy, I heard a small whisper from him. “It’s going to be okay.” And with that everything went dark
I woke in a dark room. As my eyes adjusted to the darkness, I began to look around and noticed I was in a bedroom. Sitting up, I could feel the softness of a bed beneath me. Where the hell was I? As my mind slowly scanned my memories to figure out what happened, a syringe appeared in my head. I quickly gasped jumping out of the bed, to my feet.
Everything flooded back to me in a split second and I began to panic. I needed to get out of here. I needed to get home. I looked down and noticed I was still in the same clothes as I was when I was taken. The was a relief because…well obvious reasons. The only thing that was missing were my shoes, but I could go without them.
I noticed a closed door and quickly approached it. I put my ear to the door and waited to hear anything. Nothing. I opened it, letting the bright lights of the hallway into the dark room I was placed in. I needed to be careful. Whoever took me would probably have someone watching me. They wouldn’t have just taken me and left me alone, right?
I peeked my head out of the door frame looking around for any sign of a person. Nothing once again. The next decision left or right. There was really no difference between the two options. Each hallway seemed to be endless with multiple door spaced out on each side of the hallway. I did notice, the left hallway might have another hallway attached to it. Making my decision, I began to jog left down the hallway towards what looked to be another hallway.
Unfortunately, I was wrong. The closer I got to hallway, the more I began to hear sounds coming from that area. I slowed down as I approached an open door leading into what seemed to be a large room. The sounds were not voices but more grunts and bangs.
I peeked into the room carefully to not alert anyone and the second I peeked into the room I laid my eyes on a similar wolf figure as I saw the other night. Immediately, as if on cue, the wolf turned his head and made direct eye contact with me. I my breath caught in my thought realizing not only did it see me, but it was the exact same wolf from the other night. The same light-yellow fur, same piercing blue eyes.
Before I could do anything, the wolf was the tackled to the ground by another wolf. The second the wolf hit the ground, hard might I add, something changed. It wasn’t a slow change but slow enough for me to recognize what was happening. Sitting on the ground where the yellow wolf was previous was now a man. The mysterious blue-eyed man from my parent’s store to be exact. He sat in nothing but a small pair of boxers.
I began to feel light-headed as I began to back away. “Micah, what the hell?!” I heard someone yell from inside the room. My eyes moved from the blue-eyed man to the now additional man standing across from him also in his boxers. The second man followed the blue-eyed man’s gaze to me, and we made eye contact. My breath caught in my throat and I could notice a deafening feeling overcome me. The last thing I saw was the blue-eyed man looking down at me before my vision went completely black for the second time in my life.
