Emily's nerves were tingling as she stepped out of the bathtub, feeling revived and refreshed with the sweet-smelling bath bombs swirling around her. She wrapped a towel around her, and walked to her closet. She picked out her most attractive outfit; a red, satin dress that hugged her curves in all the right places. The dress had thin straps, exposing her shoulders and back. The length of the dress was perfect, falling just above her knees.
She walked towards the mirror applying some makeup. Her makeup was minimal and easy-going. She applied a little bit of eyeliner and mascara with a pop of red lipstick, and tied up her hair into a neat bun. She would add more earrings or necklace later, but for now, she was good to go. As she finished getting dressed, she picked out a small clutch and a denim jacket in case of chilly weather. She took a deep breath, ready to leave the apartment as she walked to her shoe rack and took out her silver sandals heel and in no time, she made it fit into her legs as she walked and stood in front of the long mirror hung on the wall of the room when she heard her phone buzzed. It was her boyfriend, David calling.
On the phone…
"Hello my cute punny? Are you ready? I'll be in your house in the next 5 minutes. I'm near already." David's voice was upbeat and full of excitement.
"Yes, almost about to leave just waiting to probably touch up my makeup," Emily replied.
He left out a short chuckle and then spoke. "I can't wait to see you tonight; so much fun tonight." David was so excited because that was the first night of partying with his girlfriend and they will be together without anybody disturbing them. Not from work or from his cruel brother Damon.
"The excitement is killing me already." Emily smiled, keyed on her door, and walked out of the building. She made sure the door was properly locked as she threw the key inside a flower verse beside the entrance door. It was the usual place where they normally drop the house key for one another.
She was outside the building and now waiting for David beside her gate when suddenly, she saw a car driving towards her direction. She watched the driver dim the front light to prevent its reflection from shining directly into her eyes and that convinced her the person inside the moving vehicle was her boyfriend.
Emily was amazed. The moment the car got closer to her, it parked at a corner and switched on the light located inside the car so Emily clearly saw who was inside. She was right, it was her boyfriend. She excitedly walked towards the car and got in. David looked dashing with a white shirt with neatly rolled up sleeves and a black jeans trouser. His eyes glinted with appreciation, seeing Emily, and he gave her a gentle hug as she settled comfortably beside him in the car, front seat precisely.
"You look incredible, Em, and the dress seems to fit you so well," David complimented her.
"Thank you, you look handsome too," Emily replied, blushing.
As they drove to their destination,
David would turn to Emily every few minutes, holding her hand and gazing into her eyes. "I know we haven't been together long, but you're special to me, Emily, and I want to spend all my life making you happy. I'll be happy to Introduce you to my friends as the love of my life."
Emily genuinely smiled at his words when suddenly, the thought of Alice popped into her head. She immediately picked up her phone and called Alice. As they spoke, she told her she already made her requested burger and that it was waiting for her patiently. She also told Alice that she had already left home and was with her boyfriend already, on their way to their destination.
"Ok sis, just stay safe. I'm on my way back home but there is a little traffic. Make sure you take care of yourself okay?" Alice's words sounded like a plea.
"Sure sis, you too. You both should take care. I'll see you both in the morning. Bye." Emily replied and ended the call.
David cared less to know who Emily was talking to but he was sure and convinced that the person wasn't a male.
After several minutes of the car moving, they pulled up to the venue, driving into the building premises.
"This place doesn't look like a club." Said Emily the moment she looked around and observed the decorations and all.
"Yes, you are right. I was invited for an event." He replied.
"But you said it's a nightclub. What if I had dressed in a very indecent party dress only for me to see myself here?" She spoke disappointedly.
"I'm sorry babe." He apologized and smiled. He gave her a short kiss on her lips, causing her to smile back at him. In the Next seconds, with the help and directions of one of the security men, David parked his car at the parking space provided to him by the security man.
They climbed out of the car and David led Emily towards the entrance door. They got there as their eyes welcomed the scene before them.
Emily gasped in amazement. It was a grand ballroom with chandeliers, twinkling like stars on a sky ceiling, and accented with various shades of purple, fuchsia and green lights. The decorations looked breathtaking, and an open bar lined the corners, with people in their best dress enjoying their evening. Their table, with the center of the room illuminated with a spotlight on a stage.
They both walked towards the direction they felt would be comfortable for them and shared the table with five other couples, all of them impeccably dressed.
They dined on a splendid meal and talked and laughed with their tablemates, and as the night progressed, music started to waltz through the room. Elegant couples danced on the floor, and David took Emily to the dance floor.
As they drifted into the music, Emily could feel David's eyes transfixed on her. Her dress flowed and swayed to the rhythm of the music and glimmered under the lights with the intention of spending a night together in a hotel room after the party. It was going to be their first night spent outside together.
