Damon's Visit To Alice's House

680 Words
Damon's car slowly cruised into Alice's middle class local street, its gleaming metallic exterior glinting with the help of street lights. The sleek lines of the car and its expensive, customized detailing proclaimed it as a symbol of luxury and excess. The engine's throaty growl echoed off the walls of the modest homes surrounding the compound, drawing the attention of onlookers. As the car came to a stop in front of Alice's home, the doors smoothly opened, revealing the plush interior that offered every comfort imaginable. Soft leather seats, climate controls. The scent of sumptuous leather and expensive cologne wafted out from the open doors, enveloping the entire compound in a heady aura of luxury. Despite the relative modesty of the surrounding homes, Damon's car was a beacon of extravagance, a symbol of wealth and status that drew the envy and admiration of all who beheld it. As he stepped out of his car, Damon's confidence and wealth radiated around him, marking him as a man of power and influence as Alice climbed out of the car as well. Neighbors, seeing her come out with her little sister from such an expensive car, they didn't stop looking and wondering while Alice led him to the entrance door of her house. As they stepped inside, Damon didn't waste any time. His eyes travelled around her less expensive sitting room. Alice took a deep breath as she followed him into the sitting room. She knew what was coming, she saw the way he was staring at her house with his cold blue eyes which sent shivers down her spine. He sat down on her sofa, crossing one leg over the other and folding his hands in his lap. “Alice, I don't know how to say this, but your house is just not up to par. I wouldn't have expected a middle-class establishment from someone in your position,” Damon's voice was cold and calculating. Alice felt her blood boil at his words, but she didn't dare say any harsh words to him. She took a deep breath before replying, "I know it's not the best house on the block, but it's all I can afford right now. Please, don't be too hard on me. Your words are breaking me.” she replied, facing her head downwards. Damon leaned back on the sofa, his arms crossing over his chest. “Well, that's your problem, isn't it? You’re lucky that you have me to take care of you and your sister.” Did he just say take care of me and my sister? I'm working for him for the payment of 31 days he sent to me earlier… Did I ask him to get things for me and my sister? These were the words Alice was saying inwardly to herself. She wouldn't dare to say it to his hearing. "You suddenly gone mute?" He asked the moment he realized she had stayed quiet for some seconds. Alice felt a lump in her throat as she tried to hold back the tears that threatened to fall. She couldn't believe she had to spend her days working for someone who had no mercy. She just was regretting the day she stepped foot into his office for a job interview. Damon stood up, towering over Alice. Alice watched as he strode out of her sitting room, leaving her alone with her thoughts. It was hard enough trying to keep a roof over her head and food on the table but now she also had to deal with her cruel boss, who made her feel worthless. Alice, still carrying her little one, she noticed her sister was already asleep so she walked into the bedroom to lay her on the bed and the moment she was done laying her sister on the bed, she left her and walked back into the sitting room where she noticed Damon standing at the corridor of the entrance of her house. She watched him giving out an irritated look on his face as his eyes continued to look around the premises.
