She instantly felt irritated. He was the last person she wanted to see right now, especially in her own home.
"Alice," Damon called the moment he noticed her present. He walked back into the sitting room, now standing next to her. Alice stood there, feeling like she had been invaded.
"Sir, you should be on your way back home. It's getting late." She said,
"You are chasing me…" He chuckled. "Didn't you see that my presence brought your home some pride? Didn't you see how your neighbors looked at you the moment you climbed out of my expensive car? Or were you blind?" He replied.
Alice's heart sank. "Just leave please."
Damon ignored her and continued to walk around her sitting room, picking up objects and examining them closely with an irritated look on his face. Alice watched him, feeling like she was being violated.
When he got to the kitchen, his nose suddenly twitched. He sniffed the air and turned to Alice.
"Is that the smell of a burger I detect?" he asked, his eyes lighting up.
She had been looking forward to that burger all day, and now Damon was going to ruin it for her.
"Yes, my friend made it for me before leaving." she said, trying to keep the irritation out of her voice.
"It smells nice despite being made from a classless kitchen." He said, looking around the kitchen.
Alice gritted her teeth, but she knew better than to argue with him.
"Let me have some." He said, placing his two hands into his pockets, gazing at her and waiting to see her reaction.
"Ok, sir."
She couldn't believe she was being forced to serve her cruel and manipulative boss in her own home, like some kind of servant.
In the next second, she led him to the dining table, offering him a seat to sit. Instead of sitting, he placed his fingers on the table and chair, feeling it if they were dirty on them. Alice got more irritated seeing him make her look like someone from the gutters.
"It's properly clean sir." She said, letting out a very quiet frustrated sigh.
"I see…" He replied and finally sat. He saw a plate, properly covered and he could tell those were filled with burgers. The aroma was something he couldn't resist.
"Get me some water to wash my hands." He ordered and Alice immediately walked into the kitchen and brought out a bowl, filled in water into it before returning back to him. She placed it on the table.
"Good." He said and made his way to the bowl. He washed his hands and made sure he washed them properly.
"I need a towel to dry my hands. Make sure they're clean." He ordered and Alice nodded her head before walking into the kitchen and returned with a clean white portable hand towel.
"Here, sir." She stretched out her hand, offering the towel to him in which he took and dried his hands. He immediately opened up the plate and the aroma welcomed his nose as he sniffed the air. Alice just stood there, staring at him with so much anger as she couldn't help but smile out just to cover up her anger.
"Why are you standing there? Switch on the TV and tune it to a music channel." He commanded and she nodded. She walked towards the TV and switched on the television and the cable as well, tuning it to a music channel just as he had Instructed her and then returned back to the dining table. She stood beside the dining table, staring at his moving mouth as he munched his tasty burger while she kept swallowing her saliva.
The thought of her craving for a burger and when she finally got it, she was unable to have them. The thought broke her, realizing she had had a stressful day and hadn't eaten since afternoon. She was damn hungry and there he was eating her specially prepared burger. Her heart wept while her eyes witnessed the scene before her as she watched him eating, nodding his head to the rhythm of the song, not giving a hint that he was going to remain a piece at least.
Damon, on the other hand, ignored her presence.
"Get me some water." He demanded and she obeyed. She walked to the fridge and returned with a clean glass cup and a chilled bottled water, placing them carefully on the table.
The moment he set his eyes on the water, he smiled devilishly.
"Oh, the water is cold. You even have a fridge. Nice. I expected that, at least…" He looked at her. "Pour out the water." He commanded as usual and she obeyed. She poured out the water into the cup and in the next second, he drank from it and after that, his throat gurgled and then, he continued his meal as Alice walked towards the couch and sat.
After eating for a few minutes, he took another glass of water. His throat gurgled for the second time as he leaned his back on the chair, breathing heavily, trying to rest a bit for his meal to digest.
"It tastes good." He said. The moment she heard his words, she stood from the couch and walked towards him. Her gaze fell to the table and what met her eyes was empty plates. Her burger was nowhere to be found. They were all gone and were now inside his stomach swimming in the water.
Without replying to him, she took out the empty plates and headed to the kitchen to wash the dishes.
After a few minutes, she returned to the sitting room only to find him sleeping on the couch without his shirt on. Her eyes caught sight of his hairy muscular chest as she swallowed her saliva, not knowing what to do. Either to wake him so he would go into the room and sleep properly or wake him to go back to his house. She just stood, looking confused.
Alice stood for several minutes, looking at his sleeping face which looked peaceful and wondered if his heart will someday be this peaceful just as his face.
Alice strolled towards her entrance door and when she got there, she peeked through the door and saw the night was getting darker. She sighed and pulled her door close. She made sure it was properly locked and after that, she walked towards the window and also pulled them close and locked them properly before walking to the kitchen.
