The next day, it was Wednesday morning, 3rd of December. Alice woke up so early. She prepared herself for work and also prepared her little baby sister because she was going to take her to work. She also packed the belongings of her little sister in a portable bag and made sure she wasn't lacking anything. Once she was done, she left, leaving her best friend, Emily at home and the moment she got to the office, she was told her boss wasn't yet at work. She called him and he told her to come to the house instead. Without wasting much time, she entered a taxi with her little sis and went to her cruel boss's house.
As she got there, she rang the doorbell and Damon opened the door and as soon as he saw her with a baby, he looked at her from her head to her toe twice, feeling disappointed. Seeing her with a baby in her hands and with the bag she carried, looking confused and speechless, he couldn't take his eyes off her and the baby.
Alice's heart sank at Damon's expression. She realized he wasn't particularly fond of children, but she had no other option but to bring her little sister with her. She held onto the baby's hand tightly as she heard the baby saying babyish words and looking at Damon's face while she giggled with her saliva.
"Now, this is the height of it." He was really disappointed.
"I'm sorry, Mr. Damon. My best friend was going out and I couldn't find anyone else to take care of her. I had to bring her with me, she is my little sister." Alice explained, trying to appeal to Damon's softer side, if he had one.
Damon let out a heavy sigh and crossed his arms over his chest.
"Bringing a baby here isn't acceptable. You should have just taken her to an orphanage home," he scolded.
Alice felt her blood boil. She knew Damon was difficult to work with, but she never thought he could be so heartless. "I'm sorry, Mr. Damon. I'll leave right away and find another job and for your money I owe you, I'll look for a way to repay you." She said, her voice quivering even though she didn't have any means to pay back. She was angry and couldn't stand there and watch him say harsh words concerning her little and innocent sister.
Damon raised his hand, signaling for her to stop. "Wait, don't be so dramatic, Alice."
"Come in and take her to the guest room and make sure she does not disturb. Come, I'll show you the guest room." He said, now leading her to the guest room as they approached there.
As they got in, Damon left them in the room and walked back into his room.
Alice made sure that her little one was peaceful. She fed her again and sang lovely songs for her before she finally slept off. That was a relief for Alice. She laid her sis on the bed, using the pillows to place on the edges of the bed so her sis wouldn't fall off by mistake and after that, she picked up her phone and called Damon.
On the phone…
Damon picked up but didn't say a word.
"Sir, she is sleeping. Is there anything you want me to do?" She asked.
"Come to my room." Damon directed her on how to locate his room and then, he ended the call. In the next moment, she walked out of the guest room and found herself standing in front of Damon's room door.
After taking a deep breath, she knocked on the door and she heard a voice.
"Come in."
She pushed the door and walked in, realizing the room was slightly dark and that the windows were closed, she saw Damon sitting on his bed and resting his head on the headboard. His eyes were focused on the television and the reflections of TV light flashed on his face as she felt the coolness of his room coming from the air conditioner.
She immediately shut the door and stepped forward, now standing beside his bed and he still didn't look at her yet.
"Sir…" She called.
"Go and make me breakfast." He replied and in his next statement, he directed her on how to find the kitchen and the meal he wants her to prepare.
"Ok, sir." She replied and shut the door, walking towards the kitchen.
Inside Damon's room…
15 minutes later, his attention was still focused on the movie when suddenly, he started to hear the crying voice of Alice's baby sister but then, he ignored. She continued to cry for 2 minutes when suddenly, he couldn't take it anymore.
He immediately stood up from the bed and walked towards the guest room. He pushed the door open and walked into the room, now, standing beside the bed and looking at the face of the crying baby.
He didn't know what to do so he decided to walk out and ignore the baby's cry but stopped midway. He just couldn't do it. He walked back towards the baby and carried her. The moment the baby felt being in someone's body, her cry subsided and in the next second, he took her to his room and laid her on his bed as he couldn't take his gaze off the baby's face when suddenly, he saw the baby smiling at him and waving her little folded arm to the air as her smiling change to laugh.
Damon, seeing the baby laugh with him, it marveled him and shortly, Damon's lips curved out a genuine smile. He placed one of his fingers in the baby's arm and the baby held it so tight, trying to push it into her mouth but Damon didn't let her.
"Shhhh, no, that's not healthy." He said to the baby, touching one side of her cheek which made the baby laugh even more harder.
"Ok, let me sing for you and I hope you love it." Damon said and meanwhile the baby hadn't left his finger yet. Her grip on his finger was so tight that she wasn't giving a hint that she would leave his finger anytime soon.
Damon cleared his throat.
"Make sure you don't laugh at me when you hear my horrible voice." He said to the baby as Damon laughed at his silly words.
In the next Seconds, he started singing one of the children's songs he could barely remember the correct lyrics and it was obvious the baby was enjoying it while she giggled continuously.
"Don't tell me I sounded horribly." He said and burst into laughter. He joined the baby to laugh when suddenly, the baby started crying for no reason.
That was the scene that caught Alice's eyes. Alice pushed the door open and walked in with the tray of food in her hands, now standing at the door, looking at him.
