Alice stumbled into her apartment, her head still buzzing from the pulsing beats of the nightclub. As she closed the door, she noticed that Emily was on a call, her voice hushed as she spoke into her phone. Alice waved to her friend from afar, not wanting to interrupt. Emily nodded in acknowledgement, but didn't move from her spot.
Alice took the opportunity to slip into her room and found her sis sleeping already. She splashed some water on her face, hoping to wash away the remnants of the night, as if that wasn't enough, she rushed into the bathroom to have a good bath.
After a few minutes, Alice made her way back to the living room. Alice tried to appear as casual as possible, hoping that Emily wouldn't notice anything strange. She walked over to the couch and sat down, pretending to read a book.
As Emily continued her call and her face, looking worried, Alice's mind began to wander. She couldn't help but wonder who Emily was talking to as she tried to focus on her book, but her thoughts kept drifting back to Emily's call.
Finally, Emily hung up the phone and turned to Alice. "Hey, sorry about that," she said, smiling. "I just had to take care of something."
Alice tried to act nonchalant. "No worries," she said, forcing a smile. "What was that about?"
"Oh, just some work stuff," Emily replied, shrugging. "Nothing exciting… My father wants to have a physical meeting with our company staff and he wants me to be present… I'm worried because of your little sis…"
"No, it's ok. That's not a problem. I can take my sis with me to work tomorrow." Alice replied and smiled.
"Huh? Are you sure about this?" Emily asked and Alice nodded. Even though Alice wasn't comfortable with taking her little sis to work, does she have a choice?
"I can take her to my house if you don't mind. Besides, my mom has been asking after her and she would be so happy to see her. She said she misses her a lot.." Emily spoke, smiling back at Alice.
"But I don't want to inconvenience you." Said Alice with a sad face.
"No, you aren't." Emily replied, trying to make Alice not feel any guilt at all.
"Don't worry, I can cope. I'll take her to work tomorrow." Alice replied and Emily nodded. If that's what Alice wanted, then it's fine.
As the night wore on, Alice and Emily chatted about their day. Emily remembered what happened last night about Alice asking her if it was bad to be a virgin and about who rejected her so she thought that they should talk about it.
"Sis, you mind telling me what happened last night? Who got you rejected?" Emily's face looked serious and Alice could tell that this time, Emily won't take chances. She was ready to hear what Alice, her best friend, had to say.
Alice didn't have any intention of telling Emily about her contracted job as a girlfriend so she thought of saying something else.
"I have been crushing on this guy for so long and when I finally got the opportunity to talk to him, after I told him how I feel about him, he rejected me because I'm a virgin." Alice just lied. Her Cruel boss already warned her not to say it to anyone and even though she is no longer working as his contracted girlfriend, she still respected his warnings and that's why she can't tell Emily about it.
"Your crush had the guts to say that to you?" Emily appeared angry.
"Who is that fool?" Emily asked.
"No, it's fine sis. I'm fine now. I already forgot about him." Alice smiled.
"Are you sure?" Emily was ready to do anything to protect her friend from getting hurt. If beating up Alice's so-called crush was possible that moment, she wouldn't mind going to find that fool and beat him up.
Back then in school, Emily has always been known as a warrior. She beats whoever messes with her and her friend.
"Yeah, sis I'm sure." Alice replied and in the next moment, they laid on the bed, gazing at each other and smiling while they waited for sleep to find them.
