What she saw when she walked in was far from anything she could have ever imagined. She misunderstood the scene before her.
Damon chuckled. "Don't worry, I'm just having a bit of fun with her and she suddenly started to cry." He said and then carried her from the bed, pacing forth and back just to make sure she stops crying.
Alice hesitated before walking over to them, slowly easing the tray of food down onto the table.
Alice felt her blood boil as she watched him tickle her little sister. Damon had always been a difficult boss, but this was beyond cruel, she thought. The fact that she thought he was using her sister to taunt her made her want to lash out.
"Is she not so innocent to be cruel at?" She asked and Damon looked confused. He didn't understand why she made that statement.
"Let me have my sister."
"Now, don't be like that, Alice. I was just having a bit of harmless fun. You can't deny how sweet your little sister is."
"You didn't think of that when you needed me to take her to the orphanage. Let me have my sister please."
Damon glared at her before sighing. "Fine, here… " He handed the baby over to her and Alice carefully carried her sister.
Feeling a wave of emotion, She was angry, confused, and hurt. Had she misjudged Damon? Was he not as cruel as she thought? Or was this just another way to manipulate her?
Just as she was about to walk towards the door to leave his room, he spoke.
"I'm sorry if you misunderstood the scene. I was just having a bit of fun," he said, sounding sincere.
Alice frowned. This was far from the Damon she knew. "I'm not angry." She replied.
Damon raised an eyebrow. "Thank you."
Alice sighed. "Just that you crossed a line with my little sister, sir. I keep my personal life separate from work, and I didn't appreciate you interacting with her like that," she said, her gaze steady.
Damon frowned before nodding. "I see." He replied as he watched her open the door and walked out while he walked towards the table where she had placed his meal. He sat there and began to devour.
Back at Alice's house…
Emily had already left and was now at her father's company, now sitting in the conference room, waiting for the meeting to begin. Their company was in charge of producing different designs of fabrics to other smaller companies who were willing to make an outfit from it.
As the daughter of the CEO, Emily knew the ins and outs of the business despite her preference for working from home. However, this was her first time attending a physical business meeting with the staff, and she couldn't help but feel a little uncomfortable with it.
As she sat there, she watched as the employees entered the room one by one. They all greeted her warmly, but Emily could sense the slight air of apprehension around them. She knew that many of the staff had been with the company for years, and were probably wondering why the boss's daughter was there.
Finally, her father walked into the room, and the meeting began. Emily tried her best to pay attention to what was being discussed, but she found herself getting lost in the technical jargon and business talk. However, she kept a notebook and wrote down important notes.
After an hour or so, her father turned to her and asked for her input on one of the topics. Emily took a deep breath and started to speak, trying to articulate her thoughts as clearly as possible. The staff listened attentively, nodding and occasionally asking questions.
As she finished talking, her father gave her a proud smile and thanked her for her contribution. Emily could feel herself relaxing, and she started to feel more comfortable around the staff.
The meeting continued for a few more hours, with various topics being discussed, ranging from new product ideas to financial projections. Emily tried to contribute as much as possible, and found herself enjoying the discussions more and more as time went on.
As the meeting drew to a close, Emily's father thanked everyone for their time and input, and then turned to her.
"I just want to take a moment to acknowledge my daughter's presence at this meeting," he said. "Emily has been working hard to learn the ropes of our business, and I think she did a great job contributing to the discussion today."
There was a round of applause from the staff, and Emily felt a warm sense of pride wash over her. She had been nervous about attending the meeting, but had ended up feeling valued and appreciated.
After the meeting, Emily lingered in the conference room, chatting with some of the staff and after a while, she left the building with her father. Emily felt a sense of accomplishment. She had proven herself to her father and the staff, and had gained a newfound appreciation for the hard work that went into running a successful business.
Driving back home, her father turned to her and said, "You did great today, Emily. You really showed your potential as a businesswoman. I have no doubt that you'll be a valuable asset to this company in the future."
Emily couldn't help but smile at those words. While she still had a lot to learn, she was excited by the prospect of growing in the business world, and was grateful for the opportunity to attend the meeting and learn from the experienced staff.
As they pulled into the driveway of their home, Emily knew that she had taken a big step towards her future goals, and was eager to see where her journey in the business world would take her.
