When the bell rang for lunch the next day I went to Mr.Sharp’s office again to report in for detention. He sent me and Blake up to copy sheets again, and I expected forty minutes of awkward silence but he was actually in a good mood and he wasn’t trying to make me feel awkward or bad at all - he just spoke about our project and the idea he had. It was obvious he had actually been reading the books we checked out of the library, and as skeptical as Brooke was, I figured he was actually serious about working when we went to the beach. It was disappointing when I couldn’t stop daydreaming about him taking my hand as we were walking along the beach, but at least we might stand some chance of getting a decent grade.
