THE ACCIDENT

1366 Words
POV DIANA ROSS I on the other hand did not really understand why he was really pretending to be worried about me, besides it's nothing much, just a little accident. We arrived at the castle and were met by some of his servants. "Lord let me help you with her" a voice which by my guess was that of the bottler. "No worries, Steve, I've got this. Just return Louis back to the stable and don't feed it nor give it water for the next three days", Lord Frederick ordered. Everyone was speechless after hearing what he said, but no one dared asking because from reading his tone sounded really serious. "Did he really choose me over Louis?" I kept on asking myself as he took me to his room. At first, I tried signaling him that he was in the wrong place, but after trying hard, I gave up. He lays me down on his bed. Immediately a servant girl came in with a bowl of warm water and towels in her hand after knocking. She offered to help but he asked her to leave it to him. She was shocked by his response but left hurriedly for fear of being yelled at. "Like, does he like me or hate me?" Why is he confusing me?" I keep on asking myself, not knowing what to really think about. As soon as she left, Lord Frederick reached out to the towels and the bowl. He dipped the towel into the water, pressed the water from it and then reached out to clean my face. "How can someone be this handsome, hot and sexy?" I kept on asking myself as I focused on his green eyes, broad shoulders, finely chiseled jawline, green eyes, and his burgundy hair which I haven't really noticed all this while. He shifted his gaze to me and I immediately shifted my eyes like someone who has been caught ogling. "I will go get you some coffee", He said and left. At last, I could now breathe well because I really did not breathe all through. "Can he hear my heartbeat?" I asked myself, feeling embarrassed at the thought of him finding out. He stood up and entered a particular room in his chamber and not long enough, he returned with a cup of coffee in his hand. He gently pulled me up to sit, and held the cup to my mouth. I drank a full month and couldn't drink again. "Oh, sorry I wasn't able to tell you I added some bitter herbs that will help you relax and recover quickly" he said. I on the other hand just nodded and then he helped me to lay down and before I knew what was happening, I slept off. .......... The sunlight peeping from the window and the chirping of the birds woke me up. I immediately thought about Lord Fredericks schedule and was about standing up but then felt something different and strange about my environment, I looked beneath my blanket just to find out the clothes I wore weren't the ones I was wearing anymore and to worsen the situation, I was about getting out of bed but then was greeted by a pair of green eyes. I recalculated my steps back to the bed and covered my face with the duvet and tried recalling what had previously happened. I was embarrassed to death at the thought of him watching me sleep, just so you know I do sleep talk. "What did I say last night? Was he listening or did he spend the night in another room, did he change my clothes?" I gasped on the thought of him changing my clothes but immediately consoled myself with the thought of him not knowing anything. "You're finally up", at last he spoke sarcastically. I gently peeped out of the duvet. "Am sorry Lord but how long have I been sleeping?" I asked, not really knowing what to say. "I know you're curious about what happened last night, well don't worry, I will save you the stress of being obviously emotional by pretending that nothing ever happened" he added sarcastically. I really don't know if I should be glad or not. I just giggled at him. "Don't worry, just take your time in getting out of bed, I've got other things to attend to. If you don't mind" he said. I nodded in affirmation. As soon as he left, I immediately ran to my closet, and sat on the floor. I vowed not to cross part with him again, but then I recalled that I was the one handling his schedules so I also decided to act like nothing ever happened to. Since I've been locked indoors for a whole day, I decided to take a walk with Lucky. I took him to the garden because it made me feel at home, the sweet melodious chirping of the birds, the fast running of water and the rustling of leaves by the winds. I stayed for an hour and then decided to walk back to the castle but then, thought of plucking roses of different color mixtures. As usual, I took my bath. This time around, I decided to look extra hot. So, I put on some makeup, wear some perfumes and then picked out a blue dress matching my light blonde hair and her blue eyes. I stepped out to get dinner for Lord Frederick because he wasn't able to eat anything throughout the day. I went as usual to the kitchen, picked up his food, took it to his room and successfully kept it. Then I recalled 'the wine' . I went back downstairs, picked his favorite wine "Domaine de la Romanée-Conti", and happily went upstairs. I planned on appreciating him yesterday. On entering his room, I didn't really notice anything, I just went in, dropped the wine beside his food and was about to leave when I noticed the eyes of someone staring from the darkness. I immediately became alarmed and remained in that same position for some seconds. The distance between where I stood and the door wasn't close. "What should I do?" I thought to myself. I summed up courage, made up my mind to just pretend I didn't really notice anything rather make it look as if I was trying to recall something. I resumed walking again but due to fright, I mistakenly stepped on my dress and stumbled. It's said that when you're about to die, your life begins to flash before you. The thought of leaving my mom behind, her tears on receiving the news of my demise, not being able to be there for her and most importantly, not being able to leave my life and grow old with the man I love all flashed before me, as I fell to the ground with my eyes tightly closed and I accepted my fate. Everything happened fast and before I could reach the ground, a hand caught me. I was shocked and scared because of our fear. When I opened my eyes to see who it was, I was surprised and happy to find out it was Lord Frederick. "Did you also die and follow me to the afterlife?" I asked him. "Does this mean we are fated right from the sunset?" I asked him again. "Why aren't you answering me but confusing me?" I asked for the third time. "You look pretty when confused" he responded with a melancholic smile and then put me down. I immediately tried to comfort myself as soon as I could stand on my own. "Welcome back Lord" I said with a slight bow trying to ignore what just happened. "Did I hear you say we are fated?" He asked sarcastically. "Your dinner is getting cold, I replied, trying to avoid his question. "If you don't mind, I would like to get ready for your next schedule, please excuse me". I said turning around to take my leave before I felt him catch my hand and pull me to face him. The space left between us wasn't enough as we could clearly hear each other breathe and heart racing.
