Aurora's POV
“Boom——！”
Lightning splits the sky outside the window. Thunder follows a second later, close enough to feel it in the walls.
The storm rain is coming. I can smell it.
I push myself upright. "Ah——” The rib catches — a white spike through my left side — and my arms buckle and I go over the edge of the bed before I can grab anything.
I hit the floor hard.
The sound that comes out of me doesn't sound like me. I lie there with my cheek against the cold tile and wait for the black at the edges of my vision to clear.
Then I start to crawl...
I get my palms down. One knee, then the other. My whole body is shaking.
"Hey." My voice comes out ragged. "Aurora. You...can...do this."
