Chapter 6 - I Make An Enemy, And A Friend (Pt: 2)

2466 Words
Recap - Clarisse snorted in laughter. "What, you want to go first, girlie? Bring it on." She took a step towards me, no doubt ready to deck me, or grab me in a choke hold, but what she didn't know was that I knew how to fight very well. Not to sound cocky, but I was probably better than Persassy Jackson himself. [Don't look at me like that Percy, you know that it's true] The world seemed to slow down. I anticipated her every move. Her arm stretched out slowly, like it was moving through water. I could calculate exactly where she would land her punch, weather it was because of my ADHD, or me being a Math whiz, I don't know. I turned on my heel, and ducked underneath her outstreached arm. Clarisse, unable to stop her momentum, stumbled forward. While she was unsteady, I swung my good elbow outward, and it connected with her nose. There was an audible c***k, and Clarisse grunted, obviously in pain, doubling over. Percy and Annabeth looked over at me, their faces full of shock. I burst out laughing. "You-your expressions! Hahaha. Oh-oh my gods, yo-you should lo-look at your expre-expressions! Priceless, I tell you, absolutely priceless." Annabeth chuckled. "I guess that I made the right choice to agree to duel you." Clarisse's syblings just stood there, frozen, like Medusa's victims, like they didn't know what to do. Clarisse straightened up, and when she looked at me, I could see that her nose was defiantly broken. Purple bruises were already starting to form around her dark eyes. I swallowed hard, and took a nervous step back. I had meant to hit her on her cheek an dknock her off balance, not break her nose. Clarisse respected courage, but she didn't handle getting hurt well - by someone smaller then her no less - very well.I held my breath, waithing for the return punch but instead... ********************************************************************************************************** Charisse started to laugh. "You've got fire, Girly! I like you," She said, grudging respect shining in her dark brown pig-like eyes. I let out my breath in a long sigh. I started to smile, but it returned into a nervous frown just as quickly. Apparently, my little scruffle with her hadn't bought Percy any freebies. In fact, Clarisse's eyes looked even more dangerous, as she glared at him. "You know," Clarisse growled. "Getting a girl to fight for you dosen't score you any points." Percy glanced at me, and I mouthed I'm sorry. He shook his head in response, his way of saying: don't worry about it. Once again, he got into a fighting position, but it wasn't much of a fight. Clarisse grabbed him by the scruff of his neck and dragged him towards the restrooms. Percy was trying his hardest to fight, but Clarisse was like a pit-bull: once she locked on, she wasn't going anywhere, anytime soon. Annabeth's fingers wrapped around my wrist. "Come on," she said. "Let's make sure that he dosn't get hurt. Nice reflexes, by the way. I haven't seen anyone be able to get the drop on Clarisse in a long time." I shrugged, looking notchalant. I wasn't such a big deal, cause I had trained practically my whole life. Not to brag, but I'm sure that I could take on the great, and almighty, drumroll please, Zues! Also known as my stupid father, without his powers, of course, and that was when I was twelve. Imagine what I can do now. Now, hold in your questions, I will come to that later. Anwho, let's go on with the story. Annabeth dragged me along, towards the brick building. I didn't want to follow them to the bathrooms, but her grip was like iron. Seeing as how I had no other choice, I let her lead me inside. I wrinkled my nose as I entered the filthy building. I hoped that the Zues cabin had their own bathrooms, because I was not going to use this one. Annabeth and I stood in the far corner, watching Percy fail miserably at trying to get out of Clarisse's vice-like grip. "Like he's 'Big Three' material," Clarisse sneered. "Yeah right. Minotaur probably fell over laughing, he ws so stupid looking. Good thing the girl was there, or he would be beaten to pulp." Her amd her three friends started to laugh. I snorted quietly at that. I just can't wait for her to get proven wrong. Annabeth looked at me curiously. Oh, great. She probably heard my snort and will bombard me with questions later. [Yes, Annabeth. You were that bad] Clarisse bent Percy over on his knees, in front of the nearest, disgusting looking, and vile smelling toilet bowl. He resisted as much as he could, but he was losing fast. Suddenly, the pipes all around the bathroom started to groan. "Oh no," I mumbled, and turned to Annabeth. "Close your mouth and cover your eyes. Don't ask Questions!" But, as usual, she didn't listen. [You know that it's true, Annie. And no, I will never stop calling you that] Just as she was about to ask why, the toilets exploded, tones of water slamming into Clarisse and her siblings. The showers and sinks burst too, and soon the whole bathroom was flooded with high-speed plumbing water. I threw my arms around my face, just as a wave of water crashed over me. Annabeth gasped, which probably wasn't the best idea. She most likely had just swallowed a gallon of sewer water. We were pushed back into the wall, but then the water disappeared. Annabeth and I looked around. Clarisse and her siblings were out the door, lying in the mud right outside the building. There was some stringy sea-w**d splattered on Clarisse's disgruntled face. Percy was slowly standing up, his face white as sheet. He was standing in a circle of dry water. I suddenly had an epiphany that I was completely dry as well. When I looked at my hands, I saw that they had formed a cross in front of me. A shield of air had formed in front of me shielding me from the water. In utter desperation, I had probably subconsciously created a shield from the air around me, and solidified it, forgetting that my clothes couldn't get wet. I gasped. Wow! This is so cool! [If only I knew that that was only the beginning of what I could do] I should probably stop making this shield, though, cause it's draning my energy. Fast. "What was that?" Annabeth asked my. Then she directed her gaze to Percy. "And how did you-" "I don't know," Percy said, at the same time as I said, "I didn't know I could do that." We just stared at each other for a while, when we finally burst. "Hahaha... D.. Di.. Did you... se... see." "O... oh.. m... m... my g... go... g... o... gods!" * I was the first one to walk out of the restroom, Percy and Annabeth following close behind. I spotted Will in the crowd of campers that came to gawk at Clarisse, who looked downright murderous. She wiped her nose, which had a trickle of blood running from it. Probably because of me, though being blasted by pressurized sewage water most likely didn't help her case. "You are dead, new boy. You are totally dead." Percy balled his fists, his expression steely. "You want to gargle with toilet water again, Clarisse? Close you mouth." She lunged at him, but her siblings grabbed her arms and pulled her towards Cabin five. The other campers gave them a wide berth, some of them wrinkled their noses and sour looks on their faces. Will looked at me confused, taking in my dry clothes, and smirking face, and then ran off again. Percy sighed. "Sorry about... whatever that was, even though you weren't affected. By the way, what was that air shield thingy that you did?" I punched his arm lightly. "S'okay, it gives me a reason to get you back later. As for the 'air shield thingy', as you call it, I don't know how I did that. It just - happned. I don't know. I didn't know what I was doing. I just did it subconsciously." "Selene Aetos, not knowing what to do. Well, that's a first." He chuckled. I punched him on his arm, but there was a smile on my face. He rubbed his arm where I punched him. "Owww. That hurt. You punch hard." Annabeth was still staring at Percy. Her face was unreadable, but she was thinking hard, I could tell that much. "What?" Percy demanded. "What are you thinking?" "I'm thinking," she said slowly, the idea forming in her brain. "That I want you two on my team for capture the flag." *** Hi, hello, how are you? Me? I'm pretty good, cause I GOT CHAPTER SIX UPLOADED. Sorry for the wait. I was taking a break from writing and just reading a little, but I got carried away, and forgort about this book, and then, while reading my notifications, somebody had commented on my story, so I decided to continue writing. This chapter was pretty fun to write. I loved the part when she made that super-cool air shield. I kinda got the idea from Aquaman, which I totally wasn't watching till 5 in the morning yesterday. Anyway, instead of the water shield move thingy that Vulko, and then Aquaman did, I turned it into an air shield. In this chapter, you can really feel Percy and Selene's friendship, and how protective she is over him. I'm going to say this now: THERE IS ABSOLUTELY SOMETHING GOING ON BETWEEN PERCY AND SELENE. They are my ultimate OTP in this book. I mean, look at how cute they are!!! I'm literally gushing at their cuteness. Percabeth used to be my ultimate OTP, but I've read too many Chaos Army and Avengers fanfics that I can't stand Annabeth/Percabeth anymore. I love them sooooo much. I know that Selene grew up with the relationship of Percy and Annabeth, but that gives up even more deama! Drama! DRAMA! DRAMA! DRAMA, DRAMA, DRAMAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA! Sorry, I probably sound like Aphrodite right now. But I do love some drama. Sooooo basically Selene would be so confused, cause she her favourite ship was Percabeth, and now she's developing these unnplaned feelings for Percy. And he likes her back, but Selene thinks that Percy is destined to be with Annabeth so she rejects him. So basically, drama! I probably sound crazy right now. Anyways, what was I saying again, right. What did you think of Selene's introduction to Luke? I wasn't sure how to play that, because on one hand, she could've had no idea about who he was, and the story could have been written that she wasn't allowed to know the massive over-plot of the story. But re-reading my previous chapters, I knew that that couldn't possibly be the case here, as she already mentioned to Grover that she knew who the Lightning Thief was, and she mentioned in passing that she knew what and who the big threat of the series was: Kronos. So having her forget it all wouldn't have worked out for anyone. But, I also didn't want her to remember every detail, because then my ending of this book wouldn't be able to play out the way I saw it in my head. So I kind of put her in the middle. She knows that Luke isn't a good guy - but she can't remember why. Lol. Guy and why rhyme. Anyways back to the A/N. Luke gives her a bad feeling. It will be explained more as the story goes on. You alos get to see more of Selene's personality in this chapter. She's supre protective of her friends, especially Percy. Mostly because she knows what he's in for, as the books go on. She is level-headed, and smart, like a daughter of Athena. But she can also be pretty impulsive. She says things without thinking aboth the consequences, like how she did when she met Clarisse. It's because of how well she knows the stories. Put yourself in her shoes: if you were sucked into your favourite book, wouldn't you savor every minute of it, and constantly say the lined of the other characters? I know I would. To be completly honest, I know thet I would probably end up stealing every single of Annabeth's lines. By the way, I just wanted to tell all of the Percabeth Fangirls and Fanboys out there that I didn't want to break Percabeth. No. In fact, I love Percabeth, but I find Percy and Selene's bond super cute. Basically, Selene is bae. I love writing her. She kind of creates herself, which dosen't happen very often with me. Most of the time, I need to put a lot of effort into characters of my storys, but with Len, the words just flow onto the page, like I was just meant to write her. It's - It's like we're connected, like we're one. It's ike I can feel her emotions, her happiness and her sorrows. With other books, for example, my 'Brother Of The Hunt' book, there I'm writing from a male character's POV, but with Selene... It just feels natural, you know what I mean. Well, I should probably get on with the General Disclaimer and the Translations and stop ranting out to ya. Καταραμένη να είσαι, Μοίρα, καταραμένη να είσαι - You just can't keep it in your pants, can you, Zeus? Another Child of 'The Big Three'! O Gods of Olympus, help me. What are we going to do now? The Prophecy. No, that can't be possible. The second. There was a second. Where is the second. Guide me, Athena, guide me. Curse you, Fates, curse you. General Disclaimer: I do not own Percy Jackson nor am I affiliated with any of his stories. If I did, then I would have put a Percy/Sally and a Percy/Grover reunion at the end of 'The Blood Of Olympus', and Leo wouldn't have "Died" and given everyone a heart-attack, oh, and I wouldn't have killed Jason. Huh. Who said that. I refuse to belive it. Jason Berryl Grace is not dead, and Jiper/Jasper has not broken up. All rights go to the troll that is Uncle Rick Riordan. I do however own Selene Aetos and she plot line. xoxo, _Zoe_Nightshade_
