Under observation

Alex POV
What's wrong with him. He is behaving weird. He has been with so many girls before, but never behave like that. He pretends to be cold and calm, but I know him. He is possessive for that girl as he is not even answering his brother's call. That's why when I got to know that Edwin called the doctor for her. I went to visit her.
As I knew, Edwin was restless to know the status of her health, but it took some time because the doctor ask for some tests. His brother was calling him again and again, but he was not interested in anything else at that time.
Finally, we got the reports, and what the doctor said, made Edwin even crazier. He said that the girl was not in good condition. An ample amount of drugs were injected into her body which harmfully affected her, and also she was so weak, like she didn't eat anything for so long. She needs to be under observation for some days.
Edwin was in that state now, where it's not easy to control him. He told me to make arrangements for her treatment and left the room.
I saw him furious before, like so many times. But not for any girl. He was one of the most eligible bachelor in the world. Rich, handsome, intelligent, with a dashing personality. Girls are crazy for him. He never went after any girl, because girls come to him on their own. Then what happened now. Why is this girl so special for him.
Edwin's POV
What the hell.
Those bastards did that to her. How can someone be that insensitive. They drug her to death.
No... I can't let her die.
I was thinking while sitting in my room. I told Alex to arrange for the treatment, and then I came to my room. My face was livid and veins standing out of my head because of the anger inside me. I have to take a cold shower to calm myself down.
When I stepped out of the bathroom after a long bath. I saw seven missed calls from Daniel.
What's so urgent.
I called him. And he picked up instantly.
"What's wrong with you" he yelled from the other side.
"you called" I asked straight.
"Of course I did and you didn't pick up" he was still yelling.
"come to the point" I said, as I am never interested to talk to him.
"Dad was not happy with what you did" he said
"What are you talking about"
"I am talking about Mr Carter, Ed. You not only insulted him but also broke the deal with him." he continued.
"I did, what was right. He deserves that"
"Dad was angry and want to meet you. Come home, Ed. As soon as you can. "
"Send my apologies to dad and tell him, that I can't make it" I said in a harsh tone and cut the call without listening to him. I switch off the phone in order to avoid further calls.
I was already in a bad mood and he was only trying to push me more.
After I cut the call, Rose knock on the door. I let her in.
She is another maid in my mansion and also the only person who have the guts to talk to me when I am furious.
She is in her late fifties. She works in my mansion, with her daughter Nia.
She took care of me as a mother when I lost my mom at a young age and need love and affection.
"You OK dear" she asked sweetly.
I didn't reply and went to the balcony.
She followed me.
"what happened Ed," she asked again while placing a hand on my shoulder.
"I don't wanna go there" I replied while looking towards the sky.
"Where" she asked again.
Then I told her about, what Daniel said to me.
"You should go" she said.
"I don't want to go. The place they call home is not my home" I shouted.
"But your father wants to meet you" she retorted.
"he never wanted to meet me. The only thing he wants from me is to handle his business properly." I yelled again.
"But you can't disobey your father," she said again.
"The father, who never loved me, never cared for me or my mother, even when she was dying" my eyes were full of tears of anger.
"Calm down Ed, don't behave like a child" she said while placing me on a chair.
"OK leave it, tell me about the girl. Alex told me how you got her. "she cooed with a smile, in order to distract me.
And it worked. we talked for a while. And then she brought me dinner.
After dinner, I went downstairs to see the girl. She was still unconscious, but a soothing warmth slid down inside me when saw her. I sat on the couch, while the nurse was taking care of her.
I desperately want her to be awake. I want to know her. her name, her life, everything about her. Wanna talk to her, hear her voice. I just want her to be fine as soon as possible.
While thinking about her, I didn't realise, when did I doze off.
The next morning, I woke up on the couch, when Rose came into the room and call my name.
"Why are you sleeping here" she asked while smiling.
Nia was also there, looking at me.
" I just didn't realise......." I tried to say but she cut me off.
"It's ok, go to your room and freshen up. I'll bring you breakfast"
She said.
I nodded, then took a look at the girl.
"she is improving" said Rose as she noticed me looking at her.
A half smile spread on my lips.
I went to my room and switch on my phone, as I didn't check it since last night. Then I went to the bathroom.
I got ready and went downstairs for the breakfast. While having my breakfast, I got a call from dad.
"Hello" I started first.
"Edwin, where are you." he said without formalities.
"Home" I replied.
"Didn't Daniel tell you to come here?" he said in a cold tone.
"Didn't he send my apologies to you for not coming there" I replied.
"Mind your tone boy" now he is angry.
"first you messed up with the business and now you forget how to talk to your father." he continued.
"I didn't mess anything up. I am very well aware of whatever I did. And according to my knowledge, you never bear a loss because of me. So relax. I know how to handle my businesses " I replied firmly.
I heard his sigh in defeat as he know I was right. He again started after a pause.
" Fine. But at least return the thing you took from Mr Carter "he said in a calm voice.
Now he triggered me.
" What !! " I yelled.
"I know you took something from him, give it back and finish it. That thing seems important to him"
"Who told you that" I asked.
"Mr Carter himself. He came to me and told me everything" he was still calm. That means he didn't know the whole thing.
"Is he still there?" I asked.
"yes" he replied
"I am coming there" I said and cut the phone.
How dare he.
That scoundrel tried to get the girl from me, by using my dad. I have to fix this, before he makes any more trouble.
I got ready and went downstairs to see the girl before leaving.
I check on her health status then instructed all the staff and nurses to take good care of her. I also told Rose to personally take an eye on everything. And she assured me. The nurse told me that she showed some movements last night and suppose to wake up soon. I wanted to be there when she wake up. I want her to see me first, when she woke up, but have no choice.
Newyork
I went to Newyork before night. I don't like to come here. This city reminds me of my childhood, my mother, which is painful. I want to do my work and leave as soon as possible.
I went to the mansion. Where I used to live when I was a kid. I step inside and look around. This place made me remember every moment, which I spent with my mother. My loving mother. And also that how I lost her.
My father never has time for the family. He was always busy with his work, that's why I am not attached to him emotionally.
Even after my mother died, he never make time for his kids. Daniel is able to forgive him and always stand by him, but not me.
I was always a rebellious son. After mom's death, I left Newyork and started leaving in L. A. In order to get rid of him. I continued my studies there and join his business later. But never came back. He also tolerates my behaviour, because he knows that I am so good at work even better than him. He thinks I deserve to be his heir instead of Daniel. But I am not interested at all.
My series of thoughts broke, when Daniel came and hugged me. I never like this about him but he always does this.
"Hey buddy, it's good to see you here" he said in a cheerful voice.
I forced a smile in return.
"where is dad" I asked.
"he is not home yet" he told me.
"you go to your room and take some rest. You can talk to him tomorrow" he said with a smile.
He always is happy to see me, but I use to avoid him mostly.
Next morning, I woke up, when Daniel knocked on the door.
He brought me breakfast.
I hate it when he shows affection to me because I am unable to do the same. Then he chats with me for a while. He told me to get ready and meet dad at the lunch. I agreed.
After he left my phone rang. It's from Rose. When I picked up, I hear so much noise in the background.
"Rose" I said shocked, because of the noise .
"Edwin........she......she woke up".
