once upon a time, an angel and a devil pressed their hands to their hearts, and started the apocalypse Chapter Nineteen: The sun was peaking through the dark clouds. The sunlight hitting through the windows of Hunter Kills' house, where he, Gem, and Sage all stared at the t.v., waiting for Paige to face call them at the new place she was located at: the sanitarium. "She's not going to call," Sage whispered, her heart breaking anymore. "She hates me too much." Hunter only sighed before getting up and walking away. I should have stopped her when I could. I should have faced the consequences with the Council. "She doesn't hate you," Gem whispered back. "You guys are the only thing keeping her sane." Gem had to hold back her wolf as she ranted about things that was beyond their control. "She loves both of you, and that isn't her anymore." Sage shook her head, "No. Her eyes told me it was. At least, she was there. They sparkle a certain way, you know." Then Sage snapped her mouth when she realized who she was talking to. Gem felt how Sage became closed off, and went to see Hunter. He was faced down on the bed, his head under a pillow in his room. "Hunter? Baby?" She whispered, knocking on the door. Her wolf wanted to walk straight in, but Hunter wasn't a wolf, and she knew how slow some humans were. "Not now, Gem." Gem whimpered when her mate didn't want her help. "Hunter, please?" Gem knocked again, her wolf wanting to be near him. "I want to help you. My wolf wants to help you. Please let us help." Hunter groaned, "Fine. Come in." Gem smiled softly before slowly opening the door a little more. She slowly walked over to the bed, where Hunter's back as faced up. She realized how tense his muscles were. "Hunter?" She whispered, putting her hand on his back. "You can talk to me when and if you want." Hunter's body jerked against the pleasant shocks. "I can give you a back massage if you want. I just want to do something for you." Gem notice Hunter was nodding under his pillow, and she quickly set her legs either side of his body. She started with his shoulder, her finger digging deep into his skin. "Gem?" Hunter called out. She hummed in response. Suddenly, Hunter twisted, making himself face Gem. He pulled her closer to him. Gem's head rested on his shoulder. Their bodies pushed together. Who would have known our body fit together like puzzle pieces? A familiar wave waved through both of them. Hunter looked down at Gem snuggling into him. "You know," he started, "when I first saw you, I had this whole protective phase." Gem smiled into his chest, "Yeah?" "Yeah. The others hunters thought you were like a little sister to me or something." "That's the mate bond. At this stage, it just amplifies the feelings you would have for me." Gem lifted her head up, licking her lips. "When I saw you, I wanted to show you my world. I wanted to convince you that wolves could be good. "I meet your sister, and she was the type of person the hunters needed. I tried to get close to her, I guess, but she was busy." Hunter smiled, completely understanding. Paige was a woman who would throw a riot if a innocent wolf or vampire got hurt or killed, and she was constantly throwing them and getting certain hunters in trouble. Gem shifted her head above Hunter's. She leaned forward, her forehead resting on his. "I'm so lucky I found you." "Is it rare for mates to find each other?" Hunter asked, his hands on Gem's hips. "Yeah," Gem whispered. Her wolf was pushing her to do something s****l with their mate. The only thing they have done is kissed. "You should explain mates to me." Hunter waited for her to start. It can't be that bad. "We have a Goddess, the Moon Goddess. She was the one that created us and gave us mates." Gem lowered herself off of Hunter and onto the bed. Her hair getting in her face as she rolled to her back. "There are probably thousands of versions of how things exactly happened, but I'll explain that to you later." Please don't freak out. "The mate bond basically leads you to the mating process." Hunter turned his head. "The mating process?" "The growth of the bond," Gem nodded her head. "Getting to know each other, claiming and marking, growing a family, moving packs, doing your role in a pack, and actual mating." "Ok," Hunter nodded his head. Packs have nothing to do with me. "What do you mean by claiming and marking?" Hunter watched as Gem's face blushed. I need to make her to that more. "I'm going to bite you on the sweet spot on the left side. That will give you my scent, and make us connected. Later, if you want, I can turn you into a wolf." Gem whispered. She waited for Hunter to speak, and when he opened his mouth, a loud bang happened down stairs. "She's calling! She's actually f*****g calling!" Sage yelled, "Get down here! I'm picking up." Everything is going to be ok. Hunter was the first one off of the bed. He quickly raced down stairs, smiling. Gem smiled too as she ran after him. What ever makes my mate happy makes me happy.
