I sat up on the bed, my eyes following his moving figure as he busied himself rummaging through the closet.
When he finally found a set of red lingerie, he walked back to the bed carrying it, along with some wet wipes and baby powder. Even though my eyes were half-shut with exhaustion, I forced myself to stay partially awake just to watch how this man was taking care of me—the same girl who had ghosted him as a friend in the past.
"Don't worry, I won't look," he promised, handing me the clothes, which I weakly accepted.
He promptly turned his back to give me some privacy. I shook my head softly, amused by the thought that maybe, even until now, this guy had never actually seen a woman naked in person and only ever saw them on a screen. But wait, what about him and Ashika? Aren't they together?
"I'm done," I called out with a smile.
He turned around and took a quick glance at me. Nodding while intentionally avoiding eye contact, he knelt in front of me to carefully pull my dress away from my feet and remove my boots. He grabbed the wet wipes from the bedside table and began gently wiping down my feet. After my feet, he moved on to my arms and neck. I just let him do it, honestly relieved because my skin felt incredibly sticky from the bar.
"Can I?" he asked hesitantly, gesturing to my face to see if he could remove my makeup with the wipes.
I smiled and nodded, closing my eyes. An overwhelming wave of affection washed over me. The sheer amount of love and care he was showering me with made my heart ache. I couldn't tell if he was doing this just to restore our old friendship, or if it was because he was my boss now.
He even gently patted some baby powder onto my neck and back, mentioning it would make me feel fresher. I didn't object and just let him have his way. Once he was completely finished, he suddenly lifted me into his arms again, catching me off guard. I gripped his shoulders tightly as he transferred me to the sofa. He then stripped the blanket he had used to protect the bed earlier, tossing it into the laundry basket along with my soiled clothes, before neatly placing my boots onto the shoe rack. Unable to fight the exhaustion any longer, I curled up on the sofa. I couldn't even track what he did next as sleep completely consumed me.
End of Flashback
Feeling incredibly shy, I finally stepped out of the bathroom. I spotted Sutehan standing out on the terrace, staring blankly into the distance as if lost in deep thought.
"Sutehan~" I called out, waving my hand.
He blinked out of his daze, a massive grin instantly spreading across his face as he walked toward me with his hands slid comfortably into his pockets. I instinctively took a small step back, swallowing hard.
I need to act like I don't remember a single thing—like I'm not incredibly awkward or embarrassed around him.
"The porridge got cold while I was waiting for you... I went ahead and reheated it downstairs, so shall we go?" he said, noticing my gaze drifting toward the small table near the sofa where he had initially left the food.
I beamed at him, which made him raise an eyebrow in amusement.
"Okay! Let's go!" I chirped happily. I stepped forward and confidently wrapped my arm around his, catching him completely off guard.
"Hey? Are you okay? You're acting like a frozen worm right now," I teased, waving a hand in front of his face.
He blinked rapidly to break from his trance, then suddenly started walking so fast that I was practically dragged behind him.
Is he being shy?
"GRUMPYYY!" I squealed in delight, instantly letting go of Sutehan’s arm when I spotted his cat rolling around on the living room floor.
I scooped Grumpy up and showered his cheeks with endless kisses, which clearly made his owner jealous as he reached out, trying to take the cat back from me.
"That's enough. Stop kissing him, or he might start expecting a kiss from you every single day," Sutehan muttered. I rolled my eyes at him and walked toward the kitchen, still cradling Grumpy in my arms.
"Did you already eat, hmm?" I cooed at the cat. He just stared at me, his eyes fixed on my face as if he were memorizing every detail.
"It’s nice to know Grumpy gets asked if he’s eaten and even gets a 'good morning' kiss," Sutehan remarked, fishing for attention while he prepared our meal.
"You're crazy," I snapped.
"Crazy for you," he retorted with a wide, smug grin. I decided not to bite. I knew this man must have picked up plenty of cheesy lines back in Dubai. I turned my attention back to playing with Grumpy, content to let Sutehan die of envy.
