Chapter 3:

"Who the hell drove you home?!" The moment I stepped inside the pitch-black apartment, a hand suddenly clamped down onto my arm, violently yanking me forward. I gasped as a sharp wave of pain shot up my shoulder. "Ouch! Let go of me! You're hurting me, Vin!" I hissed, deliberately keeping my voice down. I was desperately trying not to scream because I knew Sutehan was still outside. I hadn't heard his car drive away yet. "VIN?! HUH? It's just 'Vin' now? What, is your new man better than me? Is he more satisfying? Did he—" He didn't get to finish his sentence. I violently wrenched my arm free from his grip and threw all my weight into a resounding slap across his face. His head snapped to the side, the sharp crack of the slap echoing through the entire apartment. "What do you think of me, a w***e? Is that really how you see me?" Tears welled up in my eyes, hot and furious. "We've been together for seven years, yet you don't even know my favorite color, my favorite food, or even what I like to drink! Because you know and memorized everything about your best friend instead! Tell me, Vin, who is your actual girlfriend between the two of us? Huh? Me or her? Because I can't even feel your presence in my life anymore." I paused, aggressively wiping away the tears streaming down my cheeks as the memory of our anniversary date flashed bitterly in my mind—the night he ghosted me. Again. "I waited for you! I sat at that damn restaurant until midnight! I stayed because you told me you were coming! I am always gaslighting myself, always making excuses for you even when I know you're constantly by the side of your supposedly suicidal best friend! What about me?!" Sobbing, I repeatedly poked him hard in the chest, while he stood there, completely unable to meet my gaze. "That man you just accused me of throwing my body at last night? He was the one who saved me when a thief almost stabbed me on the street because I was stuck waiting for you! Waiting for you to answer my damn calls! Damn you, Vin! I really hate you! I don't even know if I can ever forgive you." I swiftly turned my back on him. He desperately tried to catch my arm, but I forcefully slapped his hand away. He kept chanting his apologies, but I couldn't bear to look at him for another second. I knew him all too well. If Furanshin were to call right now in the middle of our fight and claim she was going to kill herself or that she was holding a knife, Vin would frantically abandon me in a heartbeat just to run to his girl best friend. Before finally stepping into the bedroom, I glanced back at him one last time, a hollow smile cutting through the tears on my face. "He made me hot chocolate because he actually knows me—he knows I despise coffee." Vin froze instantly, completely paralyzed where he stood. I slammed the door shut before he could say another word. I slid down against the locked door, covering my mouth tightly to muffle the sound of my heavy sobs. Vin kept pounding on the wood, but I ignored him. Walking over to the vanity mirror near the window, I noticed Sutehan was still parked outside, his gaze fixed directly on my room's window. The moment our eyes met, I quickly drew the curtains shut. Moments later, the deep, powerful purr of his sports car's engine echoed through the quiet street as he finally drove away. I pulled the curtains open again, my eyes tracing the retreating frame of his red Ferrari car. He had truly become incredibly successful, owning luxury vehicles, and despite my own misery, I felt genuinely happy for him. Turning back to the mirror, I stared blankly at my reflection, my eyes eventually anchoring on my waist-length hair. "This hair... I know this hair only reminds him of her," I muttered venomously. I grabbed the scissors hanging beside the mirror. Furanshin and I shared the exact same hair length and jet-black color. We even shared the same body size, though she was slightly taller than me—and red definitely didn't suit her, so she better not try to copy that, too. I cut my hair straight to my shoulders. Yeah, I finally cut it. Vin treasured my long hair so much, and I wanted him to see that there was no love left inside me for him—only pure, unadulterated pain. In our seven years together, he mistakenly assumed that whatever Furanshin loved, I automatically loved too. Who on earth would actually like coffee overloaded with sugar? Damn it! Unsweetened coffee tasted a million times better. But because I loved him, I forced myself to swallow it every single time, even when it made me sick to my stomach. I was such a fool. "Hon? I already cooked dinner... let's eat," his voice drifted through the door along with a gentle knock, making my eyebrows twitch. I remained seated on the bed, leaning against the headboard as I flipped through a book about different animal breeds. I had always wanted a cat, but Vin was severely allergic to animal fur. For all these years, I had constantly compromised and catered to his needs because I loved him. But it turns out, constantly giving and endlessly understanding someone is incredibly exhausting. "Hon, I'm really sorry, okay? C'mon, let's eat. I cooked your favorite." I closed the book, setting it down slowly on the vanity table before standing up. I was wearing red lingerie. "Hon—" His knock and his words died in the air the moment I swung the door open. He stared at me, his eyes scanning me from head to toe. "Why... why did you cut your hair?" He couldn't even look me straight in the eye anymore. "I'm hungry," I said coldly. He awkwardly stepped aside to give me space.
