Chapter 4 The mysterious space

ANA'S POV I don't know what time it was already but I have settled myself looking at the moon outside, just shining directly on my window. Or Leon's window, apparently, since this is his room. I wonder if he's going to hate me more than I took his room. Surely, he wouldn't be that kind of petty, would he? I could still hear him and Melissa arguing about something but I am sure it is all about me. Leon hates that I am here and I can't blame him, anyway. I am a complete stranger in his household. I can't prove that I have no ill intention toward his family. I tossed in my sleep due to the murderous look in his eyes. Why would this man treat her with such a strong sense of malice at their first meeting? To meet the devil incarnate, I was unable to remain here any longer. But given that Leon has already returned, would I leave easily? I was a bit hesitant to part with the locals since I took so much time to be well acquainted with them. Where could I travel? Once I left this place, I might be swiftly apprehended by the assassin dispatched by her brother. If I had known how awful Leon was, I would have preferred to practice my survival skills on the remote island where I had previously fallen. I sighed and closed my eyes. When I opened them again, I could see the sun hanging above me. I was on the grass at the time. My nose was overwhelmed with the weird yet familiar aroma of herbs. "Oh, no!" I sprang up and yelled when I look at the familiar herbs field and the flowing river, "I'm just kidding, "I don't really want to play on this lonely island. " This is the island I came across once I took a rest at the mountain. That day, I stopped walking to admire the surroundings and forced a hard swallow as the scorching heat of the sun seemed to have focused its attention on me. So I went in search of a tree, sat in the shadow, and took out the Rubik's cube from my pocket. This is the sole item which accompanied me to that I brought with me when I was brought into this world. The Rubik's cube seems to be buzzing with something unknown. But I didn't know how to use it. It would be the only possible tool may let me go back to my own world. I recovered the Rubik's cube, but disappointedly, nothing happened. A sound from the bushes pulled me out of my reverie. I was instantly on my feet as I looked for the source of the noise. A rabbit. Meat. My blood blushed. The Sardothiens rarely have meat on their table. If I catch this rabbit now, Clarisse would be so happy to eat meat after a long time. A sly smile curved my mouth. The rabbit was too busy picking some berries and I took that chance to hit it with a Rubik's cube. Just rendering it unconscious. And I did it! The rabbit fell with a thud on the ground and I immediately placed it inside my basket. But the moment I picked up the Rubik's cube, I realized I might have damaged it. Oh, no. No. No. This thing can't be broken! What am I supposed to do now? This thing was the one that transported me here. I need to go back to my real world and I haven't found out how yet. This thing can't be-- My hand slipped on the chipped part of the cube and it drew blood from my fingers. Blood pooled in an instant and it dropped to the cube. I was freaking out but then was stopped by a bright glow coming from the cube the moment it had my blood. The glow became brighter and brighter until I couldn't see anything from the surroundings. I closed my eyes and let the bright glow pass. When I felt the glow was gone, I slowly opened my eyes. I looked around and became aware that I was not in the mountain anymore. I pinched and hit myself to see if I was dreaming. But after pinching my arm, the surrounding was the same. I wasn't dreaming. I really got transported to another place. My eyes drifted to the vast field around me full of different kinds of herbs. "Oh my god! This must be a joke. This can't be real!" I plonked myself down to the grass, picked up a stone, and flung it as far as I could. In my original life, I was a military physician who recieved numerous awards and created a number of novel medications. But one day I tested the new inventory, Rubik's cube, and I got transported to another dimension. Not only that, I aged younger. From being twenty-seven, I became a seven-year-old girl and a daughter of the Alpha King of of Moonbane pack. I had a doting brother who spoiled me a lot. However, things changed in a blink of an eye. After around 4 peaceful years, my doting brother turned out to be a murderous animal and killed his parents--our parents--and he's hired someone to come after me after I escaped. I succeed in getting out, but I was changed into another universe now. Panic started to rise inside me. Other than the herbs around me, there is nothing else I could see. Where on earth am I? How do I go back? What if I can't go back? Will I be living here alone? Will I survive? What if there are wild animals here? Lots of questions raid my head and each of them was worse than the last. "I want to go back to the hill." I closed my eyes and sighed. When I opened my eyes, the scorching heat of the sun greeted me. I am back in the mountains. The cube vanished. That day, I hurriedly ran back out of fear that I would wind up back on the isolated island. Now, I was in this island again. I was too frightened and hit myself lightly for the idiotic notion--If I had known how awful Leon was, I would have preferred to practice my survival skills on the remote island where I had previously fallen. Okay, alright, I must now enroll in the survival courses by myself. I sat next to the river and threw the stone in. A closer glance revealed that the stream was teeming with fish: "I could catch two, Clarisse would be overjoyed......" The rising excitement that had been building suddenly subsided when I realized Leon was back. I could not stay with them anymore. I resisted to part with them, saying: "At least go back and say goodbye to them." I was back in the room as soon as I had done speaking. I jumped up and reached for the bed where I had been sleeping for two months, a little perplexed as to what has occurred. It's a deserted island, isn't it? I gave a lot of thought to the issue.Since the last time I dropped into the strange location after the Rubik's Cube was glowing, the cube has vanished. I had never seen it after that. I could now re-enter the space. Therefore, the location may be the cube's interior. The cube didn't disappeared; instead, it changed into a space followed me invisibly. I do recall the cube's inventor telling me in my original life that it is a tool for creating a sanctuary. I was a very ambitious woman who attempted to use it for the first time as soon as it was created. I turned into this small kid, though, so perhaps something is amiss. The majority of the specifics I couldn't hear about it, but this is what I can recall. I focused, closed my eyes, imagined myself there, and opened them to discover brilliant suns and a rich herb field. I then mentally commanded "go back," opened my eyes, and discovered myself in the room. I have tried it several times and it worked. I can move in and out of a certain space just by thinking about it. I could use this space to have my own sanctuary. This way, I would be able to escape the killer who was sent to kill me. A smile curved my lips and I went back to the space, picked up a fish to roast it by fired woods. I didn't eat well at dinner due to the sour face of Leon. After satisfying my stomach, I strolled around and discovered a cave. It was actually like a refrigerated warehouse. Since this area was created by medical professionals, various medications and medical equipment were kept there. When I saw the recognized objects, my eyes started to get wet. I believed I would never see these issues again. However, they are now properly kept in this location. "With this space, I don't have to worry about the safety if I leave the Sardothiens. There would be no way for you to kill me. Geralt Salvatere!" I laughed. Adrenaline rushed inside my body as I discovered the things the Rubik's cube could do. So I was too excited to fall asleep. I was eating the fish, but there is someone pushed me at the back, I felt annoyed, saying, "Don't be noisy. My grilled fish smells good, I won't give out...." Suddenly I felt I was suffocating. What is happening? My entire body was awake as I opened my eye and saw Leon clutching my nose to stop me from breathing. My first response was to scream, "Help," and my second was to stretch my hands to his wrist with the intention of breaking his arm.But just when I was about to reach his wrist, I managed to stop myself. I looked at Leon, who was furrowing his brows at me. Crap. Did he see what I was about to do? He was giving me a puzzled look and I scuttled away from him. He was about to say something but the door opened and Melissa came, giving us a questioning look. "I heard Ana whimper. What's wrong?" she asked. I instantly masked my face into being scared, making sure Melissa saw it. Melissa glared at Leon and I tried to hide my smile. "Go to the kitchen," Melissa said to Leon and the latter followed. But he was still looking at me while he was walking away. "Don't worry about him. Leon is like that. He likes pranking everyone here," Melissa comforted me. I doubt it was a prank. "I'm fine now, thank you." Melissa smiled and urged me to go and eat breakfast. When I was left alone in the room, I let out a huge sigh. Thankfully, I managed to stop myself before fully clutching his wrist to let go of me. If I had done it, he would be more suspicious of me. Because no normal fourteen-year-old girl would be able to do that.
