Allison
As promised, Alpha Kael arrived early in the morning. I stood silently, watching the scene unfold—my family selling me off like livestock. I couldn’t decide whether to feel relieved or crushed.
Relieved, because I was finally leaving this prison of a house. Sad, because I had no idea what kind of man Alpha Kael truly was. He had saved me from my father’s brutality, a gesture that gave me a fragile thread of hope. But what kind of person *buys* another human being?
The rumors surrounding him were chilling. Stories of his cruelty, whispers that he’d murdered his own family, even his mate. My family’s enthusiasm for handing me over only fueled my anxiety. They reveled in my misery—if they were happy to sell me, then Alpha Kael had to be worse than them.
“It was nice doing business with you,” Lucas said with a wide grin. Karen stood just behind him, her hand resting smugly on his shoulder, her eyes glinting greedily at the cash Alpha Kael had handed over.
The deal was done. His beta, a sharp, composed man who seemed far more capable than Lucas’s so-called second-in-command, stood silently beside him.
“Remember, she’s mine now,” Alpha Kael said, his voice low and commanding. “She will not be returned to you. No matter what excuse you come up with.”
Even I found the warning laughable. Why would my family *ever* want me back?
“Oh, please, Alpha. We’d never ask for her back,” my father responded dismissively, waving off the notion.
Alpha Kael stood, his imposing presence making the room feel smaller. In a blink, he was beside me, startling me with how quickly he closed the distance. My breath hitched as he lifted my chin, his touch gentle yet firm—so unlike the harsh grips I’d grown used to.
“You are to look up at me when I speak to you. Do you understand?” His voice was calm but laced with authority, compelling me to obey.
I nodded, unable to speak.
“Talk,” he commanded, his tone sharper now.
I flinched, shame flooding me. Did he not know? Was he mocking me for my silence, or was this a cruel test? His brows furrowed as realization dawned on him—he truly didn’t know.
“Oh... it must have slipped our minds,” Lucas interjected, feigning innocence. “Allison is mute.”
Alpha Kael’s hand dropped from my chin, his face darkening instantly. A flicker of something dangerous crossed his eyes as he turned his attention to my brother.
Lucas, too engrossed in counting his money, failed to notice the storm brewing before him.
I braced myself for what would come next. The deal was obviously off, to people my silence was a flaw and there was no doubt to Alpha Kael, it might be the same.
“She’s mute?” Alpha Kael asked for confirmation.
“Oh yes, Alpha Kael, pardon my forgetfulness,” Lucas replied nonchalantly, a smirk tugging at his lips. “But it’s to your best interest, really—the less she talks, the better.”
I watched as Alpha Kael’s lips curved into a sinister smile, sending a chill down my spine. Without warning, he grabbed Lucas by the throat and slammed him against the wall with inhuman speed. His claws traced deliberate lines across Lucas’s face, leaving shallow, bleeding marks.
My eyes widened in shock, my breath catching as I watched Lucas struggle for air. He deserved it, no doubt, but the sheer ferocity in Alpha Kael’s actions made my knees weak. For the first time, I felt the full weight of the rumors—he wasn’t just cruel; he was terrifying.
“Did you think you could play me, Alpha Lucas?” Alpha Kael asked slowly, his voice as cold as ice.
“N-no, please!” Lucas choked out, his hands clawing desperately at Alpha Kael’s iron grip.
Karen and my father pleaded frantically, their voices overlapping in a chorus of desperation, but Alpha Kael didn’t even glance their way.
“Maybe I should kill you,” Alpha Kael mused, his voice eerily calm. “Set an example for anyone else who thinks of trying something so foolish.”
“No! Please!” my father begged, his voice trembling.
Alpha Kael tilted his head, feigning interest. “Did you say something, Alpha Lucas?” he taunted, leaning closer as if to hear better.
Lucas managed a garbled response, but his screams filled the room as Alpha Kael’s claws pressed deeper into his neck. Though the wounds would heal, they were a brutal reminder of Alpha Kael’s power.
Fear coursed through me as Alpha Kael finally released Lucas, who crumpled to the floor gasping for breath. My father and Karen rushed to his side, their faces pale with terror.
Alpha Kael turned away, his gaze cold and detached. “Aiden!” he called sharply.
“Yes, Alpha,” Aiden, the man who had accompanied him, stepped forward without hesitation.
“Take the money. They don’t deserve it,” Alpha Kael commanded.
Aiden moved swiftly, grabbing the bag of cash. My father’s face twisted in regret, but it was clear there was no room for negotiation.
I stood frozen, unsure of what was happening. The deal was clearly off—or so I thought—until Alpha Kael’s gaze flicked to me.
“Why are you just standing there, Allison?” Alpha Kael asked, his tone firm. Without waiting for a response, he grabbed my arm and pulled me out of the house.

The car ride was silent, the tension thick enough to suffocate. I clutched my small bag tightly, my heart pounding as I tried to process what had just happened. The luxurious interior of the car was a stark contrast to my frayed nerves.
We drove far from the city I’d known my entire life, the scenery changing as we entered a more modern, affluent area. The car finally pulled up to a massive building with sleek architecture and countless floors.
Alpha Kael opened the door for me, his expression unreadable as he extended a hand to help me out. I hesitated but accepted it, his grip firm yet steadying. Without a word, he walked ahead while Aiden followed beside me, carrying my bag.
We entered an elevator, and Alpha Kael pressed the button for the tenth floor. The ride was quick, the silence only broken by the faint hum of the machinery.
When the doors opened, I followed closely behind them into a stunning apartment. The interior was immaculate—modern furniture, soft lighting, and an atmosphere that screamed wealth and power.
“This is where you’ll be living from now on,” Aiden said, his tone calm and professional. Alpha Kael, however, strode straight to a room and shut the door behind him without a word.
“Come,” Aiden said, gesturing for me to follow. He led me to a room that was far more luxurious than anything I had ever dreamed of. The bed was enormous, the walls were painted in soft, soothing tones, and the decor was tasteful yet welcoming.
“This is your room,” Aiden explained. “Most of what you might need is already here, but if there’s anything else, let me or Alpha Kael know.” With that, he turned and left, closing the door behind him.
I hesitated before walking to the bed, running my hands over the soft blankets. Finally, I lay down, sinking into the mattress with a sigh. It was heaven compared to the hard, small bed I was used to.
But despite the comfort and kindness they had shown me so far, my chest tightened with anxiety. How long would it last? What repayment would they demand for all of this?
The softness of the bed couldn’t erase the fear of what might come next.
