The elevator dinged and the doors slid open but I had not realised as that fateful day played continuously in my head. I was completely unaware of my surroundings, Eli's trembling arm around my waist, the commotion on the floor, the three humongous men that blocked our way and the intense eyes that roamed my form.
I can't do it, I can't walk into that hospital room but I can't also ditch my best friend. He's going through a hard time right now, he needs my support.
I snap back to my senses the moment Eli pulls me closer. I shift my gaze between Eli and the man whom I recognize as the man from the restaurant as they stared at each other challengingly.
I lock eyes with the hulk of a man, unintentionally showing more emotions than supposed. In seconds, I'm pulled into his burly chest and his arms enclose me into it.
His masculine scent of sandalwood and mint fill my nostrils making my knees wobble. I snap my gaze up to his, my emotions probably written allover my face as I am enclosed on the chest of an unknown man whom Eli was definitely no match for meaning that he could probably kidnap us if that's what he wants to do though, although I wouldn't really mind considering how damn fine he is.
I mentally slap myself at my remark.
"yo what the f**k are you doing? Who are you? f*****g let go of me"
Eli grunts seethingly.
He stares intently at me, taking a deep breath.
"who are you?"
I try to say in a composed manner but it instead comes out fearful.
Something flashes in his eyes but I couldn't quite make out what it was and considering the situation, I doubt it's something good.
His arms loosen around me and I take the initiative to push him off but he immediately tightens his arms around me.
"please let me go"
I say in fear of what may happen to Eli and I.
Suprisingly he does so but for some dumb reason, I didn't like it but I turn away from him and towards Eli who was struggling with the other two burly men but they were not as burly as the one who held me.
They let Eli go and I rush towards him, wrapping my arms around his waist and he does the same to me. In a quick movement, he rushes out of the elevator with me clung to him.
He slows down when far enough and I let go of him.
"are you okay Rose?"
He asks, scanning my face for emotions.
I nod.
"do you know who they are?"
He asks, looking back at the elevator only to watch it close.
"no"
I say without much thought.
He nods and gestures for me to move forward, giving one last look at the elevator, I do, the realization of where we're headed dawns on me once again.
Soon we're at the door, the one door that haunted my dreams. I stare at the white painted steel door, refusing to peek through the glass frame atleast a centimeter above where I stared at.
Behind this door is a room I'm all too familiar with, a room that holds a memory which I'd like to forever keep buried in the back of my head.
I couldn't walk into it, just staring at the door has my head spinning. My hands are trembling and my heart is thundering in my chest so loud I can hear it in my ears.
"Rose, what's wrong?"
Eli says alarmingly.
I hadn't realised I started hyperventilating.
"here take a seat, I'll go get some water"
He says, helping me sit on the waiting chair beside the door then rushing off to get water.
He returns with a glass of water seconds later, helping me take a few gulps.
"are you afraid of hospitals?"
He asks, giving me a soft look.
No I'm scared of this damn room, my mind yells.
I nod despite my screaming thoughts.
"you should've told me, you can go home you know? "
He says, crouching before me.
"I know I can but I'll stay"
I say after taking deep breaths.
I can't just leave him here, he's going through a tough time, he needs support.
He smiles and nods.
"OK but just sit here and wait, you don't have to go in, I'll be out soon"
He says and I nod.
I Inwardly smile, thanking God for not having to go back into that room.
He stands and pats my head before walking into the room.
I sit quietly, gathering my thoughts for a minute before deciding to walk around.
