CHAPTER SIX No sooner than Maia had put a ‘Help Wanted’ notice in the bookshop window than a young Asian-American girl came in, smiling shyly. Lark Sun was a college student looking to spend what remained of the summer vacation working and saving for her sophomore year at UW. What began as a formal interview soon turned into talking about their favorite books, and Maia knew she had found the right person. Lark wanted to start as soon as possible, and so Maia and she agreed on her hours and schedule.
