Maia waited for Atom to come back and when she heard his knock, she let him in. “No one there, sweetheart.”
She sighed. “I’m sorry, you must think I’m paranoid. It’s just…” She held up the photograph of Luka. “How the hell did this get outside?”
“Where was it in the house?”
She thought about it. “I think it was lying on a stack on the table in the living room.”
“It must have blown out when the door was open.”
She nodded. “That’s the only explanation.” The only non-creepy one at least. She touched the photograph. “It’s one of my favorites. I’d put it with some others to frame. For so long I couldn’t even bear to look at pictures of her.”
Atom smoothed his hand down her hair. “I think that’s a great idea. I could make you a frame.”
