I got to my place in record time, exhausted and needing to rest somewhere to catch my breath. I locked the door and leaned against it. I slid to the floor and spent a good seven minutes huffing and puffing. Then I sat up, only to find Maddox on the couch staring at me with amusement dancing in his eyes. s**t, I forgot he’s a bloody vampire.
I felt embarrassed. Mostly by the fact that he’d been sitting there while I was struggling to get my lungs to work. I don’t meet his eyes.
