There was so much to unpack, I didn’t even know where to begin.
The dead? Nocturnal? The abused? My thoughts spiraled, each one more overwhelming than the last. I tried to sort through the nonsense Maddox had thrown at us in the last fifteen minutes, but it was like trying to untangle a storm.

The silence in the room was suffocating, pressing against my chest like a weight. No one seemed to know what to say, their faces mirrors of my own bewilderment. I had to speak up—someone had to.
