Chapter 2

I knew how broken my parents were going to be once they found out that they can no longer have me around. I vaguely remembered I opening my eyes only to face a really beautiful person. It was a woman. I was sure that I was dead. Because suddenly my listening skills were improved by like a thousand times. I could hear my parents', brother's, friends' voices without having to make any kind of effort. My vision suddenly enhanced. I could see everything properly despite being dead. I was accompanied by the same beautiful woman. She was not saying a single word. She was looking at me with a blank expression. I realized I was still on the ground. I could see and listen to everything. I was near my body. It was morning now. I saw my mother entering the room and trying to wake me up. I did not wake up obviously. She called out my name a number of times and was replied by utter silence from my side. I wanted to reply to her so badly that I started crying. The woman put her hand on my shoulder. She was trying to comfort me. My mother yelled and immediately brother and father entered the room with worried expressions. They realized that I was gone now. I was not going to reply no matter what. They looked devastated. Their eyes were filled with unshed tears while my mother was crying. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- "Samantha was the kindest person. She was enthusiastic about living each and every moment. She cared for everyone. Although she had a strong temper she forgave people very quickly." My friend Nick said. "I still remember, when we were giving our final exam in the class eighth I was irritating her by kicking her chair throughout the exam. She was so annoyed that after school she punctured both of the tires of my bicycle. If anything ever went wrong I could count on her. I will always remember her smiling face whenever facing any trouble." Sameer said. "She was the strongest person who won the game of life. We will always remember you Sam. May your soul rest in peace." It had been a month since my death. I was still here and was able to see everything. It broke my heart to see all of my favorite people like this. That woman was still with me occasionally providing me with comfort. "It's time." The woman uttered her first words to me. I nodded as I was not in a condition to reply without crying. I turned around to see everyone including my family for the last time and started following the woman. I hoped that everything would go back to normal and they would live a happy life even though I was not around anymore. I felt lost. We had been walking for about... I don't know, maybe two hours? While walking the woman gave me a bottle of water. I was sipping from it once in a while because it tasted very refreshing. "Why is this so good in taste?" I asked in order to break the silence. "What you are drinking will help you feel calm and collected. We will have to walk until you feel completely at peace. I was beyond shocked. I did not expect this. Little did I knew that this was the least surprising thing. After about what felt like an eternity we reached our so-called destination. It was a very huge building. Few people were gathered around the main entrance. We joined them. Suddenly the door opened and a bulky guy came out with cardboard in his hands. "Kiara Kyle Malcolm Nicola Aaron Samantha" And with that said, the woman pushed me towards the entrance. I turned around to see her gone. "May you receive what you truly deserve. All the best child." I heard her voice. I muttered 'thanks' in my head and made my way towards the huge building. As I entered, my eyes almost came out of there sockets. The build was not only huge, but it was also gorgeous. It was, as if, I was in the movie. It was so unreal that I had to remind myself that I was dead and that is why it is so unreal. The building was full of people who seemed to be in a hurry. There were five booths where I supposed we were to report. Apart from me, there were four other confused people. We gave each other a look that said, "I don't know what's going to happen, but all the best." We gave each other a hopeful smile and made our way. Huge screens were hanging right above all the five booths. On each of the booth, our names were written. I made my way towards my booth. I was still awed by the beauty of the building. When I reached near my booth, the man behind the booth said, "Samantha Noah. Age 16. Date of birth 6th January 2003. Date of death 6th January 2019. Here is your ID." He handed me an ID that said- Samantha Noah. Block 6. House No. 66. Oddly enough, he looked a little scared while giving me the ID. "Umm.-"I was about to ask about what to do with it when he interrupted me. "Miss Samantha. You may exit from the door behind me. A member of your house will be ready to receive you. That person will explain to you how things work here. I hope you are loved and remembered for a very long time." "Thank you," I said with a small smile. "By the way, my advice to you is, do not break any, and I mean any of the rules. I am telling you this for your own good." He whispered. "I will keep that in mind. Thanks." I whispered back. As I was making my way towards the exit I noticed people of various races, countries, and ages were around me. Not only Indians but foreigners were also walking around. The exit door was huge. It automatically opened the moment I came near it. As I exited the building I saw... nothing unusual. I had imagined everything to be white or black. but it was all normal. As if no one was dead. The buildings around me, the trees around me were just as usual. Though buildings were less and trees were more. "Sam!" I heard a voice that I heard seven years ago for the last time. It was my grandma's voice. I searched for her but could not find her. Right then I saw a beautiful young girl making her way towards me. she looked around twenty years old. At first, I thought someone was behind me as she was smiling brightly towards my direction. But she indeed was smiling at me! "Excuse me? Do I know you?" I asked her. "It's me! your grandma!" She looked at me while smiling. And with that said, I was literally speechless. ================================================================================================================================================================================
