“BRENDA” Joan shouts before heading back to the house. “mike is here”
I can hear my heart pumping, I know her mother now knows am here also. An idea just pops in my mind if she asks, I’ll say I was coming to borrow some movies from Brenda. “come in” Brenda says but from her voice I can hear shes not in the living room. I get inside and only see Joan scrolling on her phone.
“Hi Joan” I said.
Joan:” hi to mike, oh sorry I didn’t say hi when I opened the door my mind was on the phone”
Me:” ok no problem”
Joan:” have a seat”
As I seat Brenda comes from one of the rooms I think its her bedroom. Shes beautiful as always, shes wearing a long dress which is tight revealing her body shape.
“Hi beb” she speaks first
Joan:” beb? What about jimmy”
Brenda:” Joan please”
“hi to” I stand up and we hugged. Joan left us and went to her room. we both sat next to each other
“tell me whats wrong beb, you said you were not ok and from what I can see you are not I a good mood”
“mum and dad are having a divorce” she said and I can see shes trying to contain her tears.
“Its ok dear, it will be ok just try to stay strong”
“I know but that means that we will have to choose either to stay with mum or go with dad to Canada. I love them both I don’t want them to separate” tears are rolling down her cheeks and I feel sorry for her. I had a new handkerchief in my pocket, hand it to her and then pull her close to me and hug her.
“its going to be ok dear” we hold in that position until she stops sobbing then we break the hug. Then It just hits me, HER MUM. I haven’t seen her since I came here and I was sure she was in the house since I overheard her on the call but I just decide to ignore, it wasn’t the best time to ask. I place her head on my lap and she stretches herself on the coach. I caressed her as we were talking about random stuff. About one-hour latter I decide to go back to our house since I had some work to do.
“Swee I need to go now I have some work in the house that I need to do”
“Its ok, I now feel better and thanks a lot for being here for me.”
“You don’t have to thank me, I wanted to be here for you, can you escort me out?”
“JOAN” She shouted “am coming, we are outside”
Outside their house we hug goodbye and I go back to our house.
In the house I do all the work then decide to watch a movie. Before the movie starts, I call Cess (big siz) to know Saper plans. Dialling her number, she receives almost immediately “Hello kid bro” I hate it when she calls me that.” Hello siz, how was your day” “It was fine am just tired” she replied” Was calling to know what I should prepare for Saper” “We will be having beef-Rice for Saper, I think you’ll just prepare rice, I’ll pass by the butchery on my way home. Ill prepare beef myself I don’t trust you with the cooking” Laughing “Seriously Cess, you know am a better cook than you, that’s why you are saying that.” I also laugh in my reply. “ok, I hear you, see you when I get home am kinda busy” “ok love you siz”…” love you to bro” then she drops the call. Putting the phone down I concentrate on the movie
At around 7:30pm Cess gets home and hands me some shopping on her hand.” how was your day at school” she asked “T’was good just a normal day same routine” I replied
Cess: “anything fishy happened while I was away?”
Me: “anything fishy like?”
Cess:” You are my bro and I know you. Let’s say there is none, let me go and take a shower” she went to her room and after like 30mins shes back
Cess:” Mike, did Brenda visit you yesterday?”
How did she know? I said to myself. Looking at her shes looking at the cctv camera at the corner of the room. Oh s**t, I dint erase the footage of Brenda and I having a good time. How did I forget, I guess I’ll have to tell her everything that happened.
Me:” yes she was here”
Cess:” ok am listening” as she sits down. I told her everything and by the time am done shes laughing at me
“why are you laughing now”
Cess:” do you like her”
Me:” yes I like her a lot”
She starts to sing
Cess:” My bro is in love, mike is in love oohhh he is in loooooove” she sings running towards her room, I run after her and hit her with a pillow before she locks herself in her room. “I will kill you when you get out ”I said heading back to the living room. Five minutes later she came back and we both went to the kitchen to prepare Saper. After we are done we serve and sit down to eat, just then my phone rings. Its Brenda “hello babe” she doesn’t answer but I can hear shes crying …….
